  • Fallout 76 on release left a bad taste in many players' mouths. But today I want to show you what Fallout 76 is like 2 years later, and hopefully convince you to also give it one more chance.

    Happy to see people having fun with a game, but let's be honest we need to keep holding companies accountable for delivering an objectively bad game at launch, instead of sugar coating it

    • @Mwarrior1991

      @nicholasp2453 Před 2 lety +10

      I agree, but hold it against the developer, not the game. If you don’t want to purchase the game, that’s understandable, but there’s a lot of people who bought it and only played a few hours, or not at all, and they might find it worth it to play now.

    • @JustAnotherPandaBear
      @JustAnotherPandaBear Před 2 lety +43

      @@0xsergy No, the game was not fine at launch. Just because you didn't experience bugs it doesn't mean no one else did. I didn't experience any bugs in 70 hours of Cyberpunk, but that doesn't mean the game was released in an acceptable state. It really speaks to the current state of AAA games when a company can release a half baked game at full price and some people will still say: "This is fine, this is the quality I will accept."

      You can play it as a single player game. Other people are on the map and the people regularly invite all on the server to join them for raids and to be part of a team, other people are scavenging and doing their own quests. It is a giant world and there's only so many people on one server and so it isn't something like Gta V single player where people are everywhere. I still feel that Loneliness and isolation when playing this game. The soundtrack (radio off) part is the best of any Fallout game. I got to the top of a lighthouse just to see the area and hear the music at sundown. You are also free to use workshops (with your items only) of other people at their base and that is extremely useful

      @Jabbathemut Well in all fairness, BGS has the overwhelming majority of the teams at Rockville, Dallas, Montreal and even much of Austin all hands on deck for Starfield currently. Starfield is an insanely deep and ambitious Space RPG epic that is on a completely rebuilt game engine, and now has a locked in release date of 11.11.22 so they're at the point where they need most of the teams focus on Starfield. Personally would I like to see more rapid story DLC/Expansion content? Sure. But I honestly can't complain as the content has literally gotten better and more refined through Wastelanders, Steel Dawn and now Steel Reign. And hey, they've fortunately kept it free. And at least we know what the future will be to offer consistently unique and varied quests/gear and exploration with Expeditions, starting with The Pitt.

    FYI if you do pick up any items on the map, for example the can chime traps, you'll only get them once per 2-3 days per character as the game remembers what you've collected so server hopping for the same item won't work. Either collect, swap character and collect again or go back with the same character after a few days. I believe collecting around 250+ items inbetween refreshes it too.

    I had to take a 7 or 8 month hiatus from this game just simply because I wasn't having fun, but now jumping back into it I'm enjoying my time spent on this game especially playing it with friends. Over the past 2 weeks I've spent over 100 hours on this game causing me to rank all the way up from A fresh character to lvl 63. I'm currently running a bloodied shotgun build (The bloodied prefix increases the weapons damage the lower your hp) and since my health is always so low I can constantly have the nerd rage perk which gives me an extra 20% dmg, as well as the mutation adrenal reactions (which also give me more damage the lower my hp) constantly running pushing my double barrel up into the 500+ dmg range, which lets me 1 to 2 shot most of the normal enemies in the game, and do big chunks of health to some of the beefier enemies. Overall I believe this game has gotten much better since the last time I played and I'm definitely enjoying myself a lot more than I was before. I'd say its definitely worth a buy. As every one of those times someone glitched into the walls to gain a shortcut to get to the launch sequence while I had to figure out the puzzles. My gripe is that the missile silos are exactly the same, nothing changes, and players are probably tired of doing it the legitimate way. One of my other friends was a rank 250 and didn’t even know how to do the silo legitimately, they skipped through using the photo mode glitch and I showed him as a level 120 how to do it. I have been enjoying Fallout 76 over the past few months. The game does have a lot to enjoy especially when it comes to exploring. The quests are probably my least favorite part as the things they have you do are usually quite boring. The dialogue system is very buggy for me. In addition on the PS4 version of the game there is a pretty serious problem with loading in objects that happens almost every time I play. If I am running(not even sprinting) through an area, the buildings and terrain will be very low res which shouldn't hinder gameplay much but the issue is that enemies will not have spawned. This becomes an even larger issue when I noticed that I die out of nowhere. From my experience this is from two separate issues. One is that objects can spawn inside of you like cars which can kill you, the other is that the game spawns the enemies yet you can't see or hear them because the game has not loaded them. It is beyond frustrating to have this happen. I still have enemies(especially scorched) not hold weapons correctly or shoot me with weapons that they are not holding. For instance it is common for enemies to shoot you with one type of weapon but when you search the enemy and the surrounding area that weapon is nowhere to be found. It isn't even similar weapon types either. I can kill a raider that is holding a missile launcher and he might drop a baseball bat. The game is still very flawed and feels very choppy at times but has the ability to be fun. Just buy it when it is on sale.

There are NO other FPS/MMO style games with the gameplay and freedom of expression that 76 offers. They’ve fixed a lot of the bugs and continue to release free DLC, while monetizing the game responsibly. There is good reason why it’s the most played game on game pass.

Not only does this show devs that they can get away with anything as long as they deliver on content years down the road, but compared to Hellogames Bethesda is a known triple A studio with a big portfolio and the amount of money and talent to match. Launching a game in this state is simply lazy and coupled with monetization it reeks of greed. NMS has not asked for a fucking penny for all of its expansions and updates, which added FAR more content than 76.

    Super late, at least to me, 76 is fairly good it feels like a game built more around having friends cause I’m playing solo and have been stuck for the longest and I’m so impoverished that I have to die to reset rads and such. Not my type of game but it’s not bad in most ways as it’s definitely fun but just not what I like tbh

    I've been playing F76 since a couple months after launch. Love it. Actually liked it more before they added human npcs. It helped me realize that I prefer my objectives to be found organically, either through stumbling across something in the environment or reading something and getting a quest. NPC quest givers feel very "gamey" to me and take away immersion, so even now I rarely interact with them.

    I'm surprises that some people think high level players giving new players stuff is because Fallout76 community is super nice.
    The phenomenon is often seen in online games that has significantly low number of players that newly enter or return.
    For online games, high level players also want someone, anyone, to populate the in-game world and interact to have fun. So unless there are sufficient number of lower level players actively catching up, high level players tend to give away help to new/returning players to boost the fun during earlier stages & to keep them playing the game longer.

    I mean I wanna give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt for this game but it seems to have taken the same route as no mans sky. Release as a broke mess and fix later, which is a business practice I refuse to support. However I am glad that you and others are capable of still enjoying the game, I hope it remains that way.

    • @icankickflipok
      @icankickflipok Před 3 lety +1

      Considering the way it’s actually played out for both Bethesda and the No Man’s Sky team, this “business model” as you seem to think it is, is highly unsustainable before you’ve alienated your players and lost too much money. They didn’t do this on purpose. Neither did the No Man’s Sky team. Developers don’t choose when to release their games, Publishers do that. If you fail to publish on time it’s a breach of contract and then the devs have to finish the game without getting paid what the contract promises or they’re just removed from the project and paid for what work they did complete, and it’s either released unfinished or a new team is contracted to finish it.

    • @arollingkino

      @@icankickflipok I'm not blaming the devs or the people that made the game, I am blaming the higher ups. But I see if I go back to the game, that might give the higher ups the view that they can use that as a model because it had later returns (in which the people that actually did the work to fix it got little pay) which can only be bad for the devs and lower workers. Although as I said if you can still enjoy the game go ahead, i cant stop you noir can anyone else.

    • @icankickflipok

      @@arollingkino the devs ARE the people who made the game, the Publishers ARE the higher ups. Are you stupid or something? You pretty much repeated what I had already said but in an attempt to make a counter-point rather than to reiterate my point I had made. The Publishers would not look at that as a success, they’ve still invested more money into the game than it’s returned. The only way the Publishers would consider it some sort of faux success is through microtransactions, if they somehow believed that releasing an unfinished game boosted microtransaction sales, in which case, that is what you should be complaining about, and not the fact the devs give enough of a shit to keep working on the game despite having no real incentive to other than to make it better for those who want to play it or possibly because they’re contracted to by the publishers, in which case, you should be complaining about publishers making devs work on games they don’t wanna make. First we’d have to show that a broken game making more in microtransactions is even a thing that could potentially be happening.

      @icankickflipok Před 3 lety +1

      @@arollingkino I just asked a question. Are you stupid? It’s a yes or no. Someone asked me that, my answer would be yes. People tend to conflate Bethesda Game Studios with Bethesda Softworks. Just because they have the same name in them doesn’t actually make them the same. One is a development team/studio, the other is a publishing team/studio. One of them just does what they’re told. The other is the one doing all the telling. Suppose it isn’t impossible for there to be some overlap but that would create a mess when trying to sort out who should be doing what and when as well as why and how. Most businesses tend to streamline things so I don’t imagine they wouldn’t streamline the actual work process by having the two stay distinctively separated.

    I played it since beta and gave it I think a year and half I came back after npcs but slightly before taking a look at it.
    Anyways coming back I started doing all the quests from old to new while enjoying all the fun events and funny little side missions and getting cool new loot I worked my way all XD from lvl 40 to lvl 200 easily just a lot of mission xp and events doing everything.
    Learning all the lore from 76 with rose calling the npc’s the old brotherhood and responders all basically sacrificing and dying to help people and research ultracite and the scorched with free states and whole enclave nuke dilemma you taking on all the roles from before like mayor or general or becoming a soldier or every type of responder helping everyone you soon feel like you’re known everywhere. I can see that’s where without npc’s it’ll be so full but after npc’s it’s great. Still a little bland but every now and then just playing with a friend or seeing some badass fallout moment or event popping up everything ends up fun or even building. Finding a cool new spot to make an amazing house is great.
    I don’t mean a little wood shack I mean an actual house that’s literally your job leaving the vault. Then the recent dlc after helping the overseer settle the dilemma with settlers and raiders moving in having to get vaccinated basically and informed about the scortched after comes the huge brotherhood super mutant dilemma getting back their weapons and relationship with the raiders and not going to patriotic.
    Overall I had an amazing experience ...
    What’s that new teaser dlc?
    Think they’re gonna add some dlc or whole map bog or whatever from fallout 3 the industrial city.
    Cant wait for that.
    Right now I finished all main dlc just have sides and exploring to do.
    Then the end game gear getting can be annoying cuz so many people just have god roll gear able to take nukes 1 shot the Queen totally ruin this game...
    But if you reach end game you can start noticing you do some damage vs a lvl 10 noob firing a pistol.
    Wish most events were more noob friendly
