  • I just had our garage floors epoxied, and I took a time-lapse of the entire 2-day process. The installation was done by MD Concrete Solutions here in Austin, and the color chips we used were the "Dolphin" color option.
On Day 1 they prepped the concrete floor with an acid wash and pressure wash. Then they put down the epoxy and covered it with the Dolphin color chips. That had to cure overnight, and then in the morning they cleaned up the excess chips and put down Cam-Seal, the first protective topcoat layer. After that had dried they came back later to put down the Polyurethane layer. Now we just need to let it dry for a day or two and we'll be ready to get our cars back in!
    0:00 Prep
    2:27 Epoxy
    3:00 Color Chips
    3:50 Chip Cleanup
    4:55 First Top Coat
    6:03 Second Top Coat
    7:04 Before & After

$1900 is not bad. They did a lot of work over 2 days.

      Our process is way different
      We
Grind the concrete or shot blast
Primer coat (24 hr dry time)
Top coat with flakes (24 hr dry time
      Clear top coat the finish

Yeah, that’s what I thought these guys were going to do. I was disappointed when they just did an acid wash. They were by far the cheapest in town, and I really didn’t want to spend much on the project. It’s not the greatest job for sure, but still looks nice.

nice job but why didnt they remove the mouldings and epoxy up to the wall?

    • @BrianGreenstone
      @BrianGreenstone  Před 3 lety +2

There were gaps under all the moldings so no need to remove them to get under them. Plus, those mounding sounds are 23 years old and would not have survived being removed.

The acid just self-neutralizes. Harmless after a few minutes.

They are, but they have special cleats on their shoes so they’re basically walking on tall nails which don’t affect anything.
