    Vestax VCI 380 was the first Serato controller to feature 16 pads and have that layout. Released in the spring of 2012. Still one of the best ever made.

      Good call. I’ve never personally used one. It was an eye opening innovative piece for sure.

    In torn between staying on my sb3 still saving for rev 7. Or upgrading to rev1. Let’s see.

    Great and informative video. I have an sb2 and am fresh into mixing. I love it as a starter controller but have been considering rev1 for the option to scratch using scratch tracking. Do you find that feature intuitive and helpful on the rev 1? Also can the rev1 smoothly use other softwares like traktor, Ableton live, or rekordbox?

    • @idjchance
      @idjchance  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the watch Josh. The scratch tracking option is very intuitive as long as you are using the crossfader in it’s normal mode and not reverse (hamster mode). As far as I’ve been informed it’s not midi mappable yet. Maybe someone will figure out patch or maybe in a firmware update.

    I have the gold SB3 and the gold Rev too....but dang...the Rev1's new tiny buttons sound and click horrible compared to the SB3....I wanted it for "scratch bank"....but the button size I can get over I guess....but not the cheaper feeling / sounding pads.... Rev 7 up next.

    I have a SB2 Serato Pro License. Can I use that for the Rev1 as well or I have to buy again specificaly for Rev1?

      Should be plug and play with your existing license.

    What about sound quality is it an improvement from the sb3?

    • @idjchance
      @idjchance  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Michael.Thanks for the question and giving me a watch.
      To me they sound the same. I listened in the headphones and a pair of EV Evolve 50s.
      Both Have 24 Bit 48khz soundcards. I didnt mention it in the video since it seems sound quality is more of a subjective thing. I always hear people debating over speakers,headphones ythat some think sound amazing ,some say they dont.

    • @michaelsinclair1509
      @michaelsinclair1509 Před 2 lety +2

      I had an ddj 2 then to a sb 3 and I compared both of them output quality and I realized I had to nearly max the master gain of the sb3 inorder to match up with the sb2 at half way so I dislike my sb3 for that and some other reasons, this is why I would like to know if the sound card is actually better before I can purchase the rev 1.

    Anyone having issues with the microphone sounds bad? This sound card or another issue my mic audio has no power and sounds not so good.

      @idjchance  Před 2 lety +1

      Sorry to hear that Bibba. I haven’t had any issues with any of my mics. I use the Rode Podmic, Rode Wireless go or a Shure Sm58. Is your mic a condenser or dynamic ?

    WILL THIS WORK WITH VIRTUAL DJ?

    • @idjchance
      @idjchance  Před rokem +1

      Virtual DJ does have a support page just for that. Here it is: www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/pioneer/ddjrev1/installation.html
      Hope that helps RJ. Thanks for the watch and comment. It helps the channel immensely.

    A Master Cue Mix Knob would gave been useful on these units … ?! (think they ditched it after the SB-2; not sure why, other than cost … ?!)

    • @idjchance
      @idjchance  Před 2 lety +1

      I agree. I always use that knob. It’s why I use my SX2 as my main controller. The SX3 had it, not on the playing surface but on the front panel which didn’t work for me.

    • @kierenmoore3236
      @kierenmoore3236 Před 2 lety

      No Slip control/button on the Rev1, either … Do you see that as an issue, at all?!

    • @idjchance
      @idjchance  Před 2 lety +1

      @@kierenmoore3236 I’ve never saw the use for the slip mode. I always used vinyl mode in everything

  • @rightside
    @rightside Před 2 lety +1

    The position of the pitch on the Rev has absolutely zero practical advantage, it’s a load of crap. Gimmick to the limit.
