  • It’s still here! If you are a Jeep enthusiast, you should rejoice over the fact that for 2023, you can still purchase a V8-powered Wrangler. How much longer the 392 Wrangler Rubicon will stick around continues to be uncertain. Most rumors say this will be the last year, but that’s not set in stone (as far as we know anyhow). No matter what, we say if you want a Wrangler with a V8, it’s best to act fast because these continue to be a highly sought-after vehicle.
    In this video, we will go over what's new, gone, and things we changed.

    I think they could offer a 5.7 model that would be priced far cheaper and still have exciting power, sound, and capability. It wouldn't have to be full time 4x4 to save the axles, it would probably get better mileage, run regular grade fuel, and still pull the larger tires. The 392 is cool for sure, but I'd be happy with the 5.7.

    Does the Recon Grappler pickup small stones like the stock tires do? I had Trail Grapplers on my JK and loved the wide tread spacing for this reason but my 392 stock tires are very bad at this. My rear fender flares have several rock chips from the tires throwing stones.

      @DrivingLine  Před rokem

      It will work fine. It's a little out of spec, but you can just adjust the air pressure to ensure you have a good contact pattern. I like the Recon over the KO2 as it's a more true to size tire.

    • @ajeliasiv
      @ajeliasiv Před rokem

      @@DrivingLine I appreciate the quick reply. That’s reassuring that they work just fine. Any psi you would recommend to start with. I ran my 35s at 34- 37 most of the time. And 10 on the dunes. If I had a 392 I would have probably made some different choices. But with the v6 I didn’t want to lose to much performance. Keeping the diameter down a bit and the ko2s have a load range c that saves me about 10 lbs a tire were what swayed me in that direction. Oh and I live in Michigan and the ko2s work great in the snow. You setup looks awesome with the nittos though. I might have regrets but let’s hope not. I’ve already got the tires waiting and I just received my rear axel spacers today so it’s almost go time.

    • @DrivingLine
      @DrivingLine  Před rokem

      I would start with 35 psi and move down from there. My experience with 37's with a load range D rating is I generally need to air them around 28 psi on a 17x9 to get a good patter and best ride quality. If I'm going to drive out of town, I tend to pump them up to 35. Given you are going load range C, you might benefit from a little more air pressure.

    • @DrivingLine
      @DrivingLine  Před rokem

      The lift height is the same between the XR and Non-XR on the 392. The big difference in terms of 37s will be the tire relocation kit/tailgate reinforcement ,4.56 gears, and XR specific wheels that have a difference backspacing and width. So, you can run 37s with a non-XR, but you won't be able to run the spare without the relocation bracket. You will also need the 2-inch bump stops out back. The non-xr wheels will work if you go with a narrower 37 to keep them in spec. However, the backspacing might be an issue and could require you to purchase wheel spacers as well.

    I was wondering. Can you make jumps in this car? The reason why I'm asking : the RAM 1500 TRX can do it. As long as we have this 6,4 L V8 Hemi under the hood here and similar dynamics, this is definitely a vehicle to run on a fast trail right? And on a fast trail you can definitely expect some jumps here and there. I think this car can be a very good daily-driver, while also being very capable off-road, which is something I would like to have for my weekend trips.

    • @DrivingLine
      @DrivingLine  Před rokem

      I personally would never jump this vehicle in stock form. The TRX has a long-travel suspension meant for going fast in the desert. This does not. If you wanted to upgrade to a long-travel setup with coilovers and bypasses, that would be a different story.

      @@DrivingLine Ah, thank you for the insight ! So the TRX is rather for fast trails, while the Jeep is rather to do the technical stuff, rock crawling, etc.

    What’s your guys average oil temp you guys see regularly and also what’s the hottest any of you guys have seen? I’m coming from my JT Mojave and I noticed the 392 runs much hotter just curious

    • @DrivingLine
      @DrivingLine  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I saw your question earlier. I haven’t had a chance to look. The 392 is currently locked in by something else at the moment. I believe it was around 225 last I looked. I know it runs higher than the gladiator with a 3.6 L. Never so hot that I thought it was a problem, but it does run warmer for sure.

      @@DrivingLine yeah I wasn’t really worried about it either my consistently runs at about 235/240 ish but I do have steel skid plates, 38 inch bead locks, and a steel front bumper with a winch so it’s heavier then stock. I also live at 5000 elevation and I’ve seen it climb to 260 oil temp but that’s going up hills it does cool right down pretty quick though.

    • @DrivingLine
      @DrivingLine  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I have a friend with one on 40s that told me he was a little concerned about his oil temps as well. I wheeled all summer with 38s. We have plenty of heat here, but we don’t have the elevation you do. I think these things just like to run on the warm side.

      @@DrivingLine I agree because they’ll get up to some pretty questionable temps and then they seem to cool them selves off pretty fast. Thanks for getting back to me on that 👍 Love your channel

      Bronco supposedly has better on road manners but in no way offers more performance. The 392 is an entirely different league performance wise on compared to the Bronco Raptor. It isn't even close. 392 is nearly 2 secs faster 0 to 60 and runs mid 12s 1/4 mile. Bronco Raptor is at 15 secs. Jeeps 4XE is faster than the Bronco Raptor.
