I got the impression that the drug use and sequential overdose was because of the miscarriage/loss of the baby.

actually i don't think so, if you watch the video again you can see them getting drugs and getting high before the scene thats shes is pregnant. I think the miscarriage just made them spiral completly and overdose.
I don't know, I've watched the video multiple times and I stick with my opinion. She looks so happy when she's telling him she's pregnant and I don't think she's using at that point.

The wringing out of his shirt in the beginning, because he tried to drown himself. The burning of his piano, which was the reason they met in the first place. It's so well made.

While She Sleeps is normally hit or miss for me but this is perfection.

Lyrically I think there could be more, but the song itself seems more focused on the overall tone and the contrast with the guitar - and I do love that a lot.
Have been listening to it a lot without the video (for a number of reasons) and I find it's very good on repeat, but I tend to gravitate toward the intro and the outro specifically because of the guitar. I tend to do that with this band, since they have such great riffs.

I finally got to see them live for the first time last week and it was incredible. This song live actually gave me chills. Been listening to these guys since 2017 when You Are We came out and they are criminally underrated. I also got to meet them after the show and they’re the most down earth and appreciative guys.
Those guitar part are just heartwrenching, I could listen them on a loop

My take is that they both started smoking canabis, when that didn't help enough for her she injected something stronger and subsequently overdosed.

The music is supporting the video rather than the video supporting the music, meaning the song gets overshadowed by the video, which is always a bummer when it happens.
The song itself, without the video, is honestly just alright, idk. Except for some neat solo parts, nothing stood out or was special.
Definitely not wrong. but it's hard cause I was just at the gym and the song came on. Knowing the video clip and what its about, and ripping my heart out when watching it. I still felt enjoyment out of the music in general. Everyone is different tho.
@@mriridebikes totally understandable, you associate the song with the video, which is pretty much the intention of any music video.
Not trying to ruin the song for you, but after listening to it while watching the video I went ahead and just read the lyrics, without listening and completely ignoring the video and I was a bit confused. Without the context of the video the lyrics don't make much sense to me and that's disappointing.
