Poor Boys Garage...
Special Thanks: To my subscribers that love this car and bike stuff as much as I do, and letting me show you some of the things we do around here. Rescue classic cars!
man i live about 5 miles from ole sonny ive bought alot of stuff from him over the years we raced together years ago
Yeah he was a cool dude! I need to get back over there one day to visit
He's capping yoo
You have seen this car run at it’s prime?
@@anthonymccoy8771 sonny and the t bucket we raced a lot together
@@oldmanintheshopbuiltnotbou8726 that’s cool 😎
For you it is wiring that drives you crazy, for me it is carburetors. Dude, rebuild the carb, you're killin me!!
Agree. Carb rebuild and a points eliminator kit and that thing would probably run great
At least an accelerator pump!
Definitely, that carburetor is driving me nuts tooooooo.
saaaame. no accelerator pump makes me wanna scream D:
Neighbors gotta love it lol
My uncle Ed, who turned 84 today ( 2/2/23), built something like that in the late 50s out of a '32 Ford. It had an early Hemi in it and regular bias ply street tires. He ran it at Westhampton a few times but soon sold it because he said it was more fun building it than racing it.
Thanks for saving it! Give it a good freshen up ! Rings, valve job, a thumper cam, headlights, tail lights drive it! Leave the rest as is. Keep the soul in it!
Flipping hilarious! Skid boy! Ha ha ha a.
When you took off dow the street with old glory flying those pipes screaming American muscle it gave me chills
We got to represent the Red White and Blue.....
@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC absolutely
world needs more old school guys like sonny
carb set here's how remove the vac advance hose plug the vac side Put the emergency brake on put in gear, set each idle valve as high pitch can go may take couple times then plug in vac advance- set timing put # 1 piston TDC on fire stroke remove the distributor cap remove the distributor put back in until have on # 1 Spark plug Old School modern cars have electronic ignition, EGR if standard pull largest vac hose highest on vac gauge like the rod not the hesitate glad fellows got the thing going instead of setting around
The kid knows what he's doing. He actually rotated the tire. I have to do that all the time to hook tractor attachments up. Its so much easier than trying to push a big ole John Deer frontend loader
Sometimes he does good, but most of the time I’m cracking the whip on him! Lol
@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC That's what dads are for! Trust me....He'll both love and respect you for it as the years go by.
Love how when that thing fired up the camera started shaking like it was the shuttle launch ps that's the way a dad should raise his son out in the garage and going pickin together .
I agree! Thanks Aaron
That is a car you could be tinkering with for the rest of your life. There is aways an improvement, always something that will need fixing, and once you go racing... oh boy then the fun really starts. Drive it like you stole it... it is meant to go right to the limit and break, that's when you know what needs to be done to make it better. But it is all there, it works, it makes noise and spins the wheels... and you will be the envy of everyone driving a standard factory tin box.
Nice to see a classic rail run again
Now that's poor boy looks like drive shaft ,wishbones, a T.V tower welded with coat hangers. Next time you have a leaky tank use J B. Quick weld and 1st coat rub it in the hole back n forth after that's dry sand it then put 2nd coat thick.
should get it all tuned up runing good and see what it does at the texas mile, doest matter , you got a dragster that was someones dream to build get it finshed and have fun with it
Dammit boy! This thing is freaking LOUD...and I LOVE it! I really need to get some good old Murican muscle back in my life!
Love to see these cars brought back to life again
The old girl runs pretty good! Nice job dude...
The American flag and bald eagles coming out of the exhaust ...America, God I love you..
check ignition timing, sounds off. Change plugs wires and cap/rotor and rebuild the carb also make sure lifters are not sticking. That is a cool project.
It’s a 1923 model T bucket. That car with a small block ford would have ran in C or D altered back in the day. I hope you still have the car. It would make a great street rod. Semper Fi, brother, USMC 1971 to 78.
THATS COOL WITH THE FLAG FLYING ON IT
That's one Sweet ride. You might as well make your own parts, especially if you're buying them from Advance auto.
It sounds a tad rough but that’s expected considering how long it’s been sitting. I would the power plant out break it down freshen it up a bit new carb gaskets seals just a good face lift and I bet it will set back in that seat
When I was 16 and living on the farm, I built something like this. Slingshot dragster frame, pinto motor, 4 speed and a pontac posi track rear.i learned a lot. Driveshaft was 18".
P.O.R. 15 makes a kit to put an epoxy liner in fuel tanks like that. I've done two that were full of pinholes and both times it worked great!
I really dig that shot of you taking off with the flag. Nice work, cool ride.
I’m a retired Marine, so I thought it looked pretty good, flying in the wind....thanks Jamie
@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC Cool, and thanks for your service, sir!
Now that would be all fun! I would love it. Nostalgia nigh at the drags. Dude sign me up.
Man - I bet your neighbors love you.
Rattling the windows in the neighborhood
That sounds vicious!!!! Love it!!!!
That's really cool, thanks 👍 for your time and video.
Thanks for the support Matthew...
Your neighbors must love you
Glad to see something beside a Chevy motor
Your right they all can’t be the best
Everyone goes with chevy cause the dont know anything
Can't argue with some one that doesn't have a clue
@@DeathracerXD everyone goes with chevy because they make horsepower. look at all the fox body's with Chevy's.
@@robertweitlauf4653 That's just because chevy doesn't make a car worth putting their crappy engines in!
sad to see an old fella pass on his race car but at least it will live on
Hello from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Just found your channel enjoyed the video looking forward to many more, Rick.
Thanks from America really appreciate it
I use steel reinforced rubber valve cover gaskets, and valve cover studs instead of bolts. The rubber gaskets are re-usable, and studs keep the gasket aligned while you're securing the valve cover.
On top of that, I never use the stamped steel valve covers because I an never get them to seal evenly. Instead I use cast aluminum covers. You can find vintage aluminum covers (M/T, Edelbrock, etc) at swap meets if that's your thing.
Cool old Hotrod, ide like to seen it make some passes in its hay day
Damn that’s cool!! This thing should be cleaned up and put on display at car shows, what an awesome old build
I tried to display it in Advance Auto, as a local piece, as well as at a bar here, that has a hot rod style theme. Both were a no go......
@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC wow that’s surprising, that’s a cool old dragster, I figured people would love to see it, but I guess us gear heads are a different breed!
that looks like one cool old dude that has alot of memories with that drag rail the way he was looking at it
Be sure to check, all the frame work out real good, before you start getting real serious, make sure it's not deteriorating, remember safety first!
Kool old rail. Glad yall was able to rescue. Her
I bet your son is soo excited and cant wait for you to get that hot rod running Perfect father-son project. Nice you got it runnimng. Sounds nasty!!
Had the best time with that one! He loved it!
Nice save. Bet that old fella used to rip down the track. If I was nearer to you I'd polish up those rims and tank for you.
Damn awesome find brother👍👍👍👍 only if you had a coffin to go own it.
22:01 SHE'S ALIVEEEEEEE!!!!! 💪
Yes she is! Lol
Newly subscribed from UK; The sheer dedication and National pride in what has to be one of the Finest of American traditions, and truly fantastic to see a machine like this brought back from the dead; 101% enjoyed this...;)
I've seen Europeans do some fantastic car work in your own rights You've got some fine cars and mechanics over there
That's awesome, Poor Boys!! Check this out, Carolina Custom Classics!
Bad to the Bone 🍗 I like to hear the drag car run again American muscle 💪
Thats one wild bucket rail. I saw a Monte SS in the background... Cool score man.
Thanks brother, I know it’s an odd ball, but we had to rescue her!
Cool ol dragster. Can't wait to hear it roar
Can't wait to see it bc it's al blurry I wish they had a better camera man
carb rebuild and some timing and that will be a whole different car...
Cool old ride, I liked the one other one at the end too could be a fun ride too!!!!!!
We never did get a motor in that one, but they were racing it with a sb 283 back in the days
I wouldn't like my spine setting right over that old rear-end gear.
The headers are awesome looking
They were custom made Stainless
very cool , thank you
get that kid a better camera! He does a great job!
We finally upgraded, this was one of our older vids. Thanks JF B
That's a cool old drag car. Polish those 5 slots up and it will change the entire look!
I'm guessing a full carb rebuild is on the menu? Probably need to do something with the timing as well. Vacuum leak? Man, what a lucky score!
That carb needs a good tuning and I bet a cleaning too after sitting all those years it's a cool little car
I know, I took it apart a few times and changed out some stuff, and still couldn’t get it right! Lol
@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC sounds like the accelerator pump isn't squirting properly.
@@tacobob4664 x 2, lean stumble with no pump squirt.
Apparently you need some carburetor work on that baby man keep up the good work
Live the music brother and the the vintage dragster, keep up the great work
rebuild the carb, set the timing, throw some paddles and ribs on the wheels, give it a good air filter, make sure she'll cool well, and you've got a boss tier sand rail!
Agree.. not much for pavement these days unless gonna register it and rat rod up n down main street.. lol..
Good Dad.
That thing looks like a blast to drive go.through the carb and set.the timing and it will be a beast
One wheel burnouts in the garage.......LOL! Nice score on an old car. I'm with you on the wires.
Be safe and have fun
Terry from South Carolina
Thanks for the support terry!!!
sounds like that carb needs some love
Lots of love.....
Never seen your Chanel before . This car and your revival of it SWEET. Keep it up. IT sounded nice and LOUD.👍
Thanks for the support
I love it man. Thanks for sharing
so cool that you got it running and love that sound! will it ever see the timing lights? let's hope so !!! one more thing. how could there be any thumbs downs for the dedication to bring a piece of history back to life?
Awe man thanks for the kind words Douglas, much appreciated! The thumbs down is just part of the game.....
Not a thumbs down, and I go back to when front engine was still allowed, but I believe NHRA rules prohibit open cage front engine rail cars.
Looks like a old mud rail my dad and grandpa used to have lol it’s missing the blower and paddle tires but the nos is there 🤣
It’s not the exact car lmao just the look remind me of it 🤣💯
That Is a COOL FIND Fix the Carb and Add a little timing and it should be a SCREAMER, What kind of Engine? Looks like a Ford or a Mopar
It was a 351 Windsor.
so cool
If it ends up being to much work to get it NHRA / IHRA legal, This would be great for sand/drags drags! Just pop on some paddle tires and have a good time....they're alot less tech crazy.
Cool video. Love, to see a car like this brought back to life. Thanks for sharing the video with us.
Thanks for watching!!!
Sweet!!......great job!
The timing is off to far advanced and the carburetor needs a new accelerator pump and the fuel level checked outher than that it's just mean and nasty
thats what i was hearing as well.
@@j.walker3498 As well as I , the timing , and carbs need a some assistance .. That thing should be BURNING those tires, but it can barely eek them ...
Beautiful raw power 💪
Definitely like the Alice!!!! Definitely go through the carb and new accelerator pump!! And Timing should do okay for a Ford! Lol
Such sweet music.
Sweeeeeet rail job. Man I love to work on her.
Hey
Saw you were located in NC....
Subscribed right away 😁😁😁
That'd be my daily driver👍👍👍
Heck yeah ty
That drag rail car looks awesome!
Thanks Lucas, that was one of the most fun cars I’ve had around here.
@@PoorBoysGarageUSMC Awesome. She roars angrily!
Nice find, enjoy, be safe, and have fun. 👍
Yeah your driving around looking at the scenery. Then wam your sitting in the scenery looking out at the road
Really cool family project!
Sure it will run the old motor gas and spark.... lol 5 wires and it will run np ..as long as its not locked up solid off she go ....I always take out the fire and turn it over with the valve cover off tell i get oil up top so I don't run it dry and rip something up then fill the flot bowl up on the carb and give her the wood lol
Yep usually we can get them fired up, if they are not locked up! It’s all about what you can get working, that comes with the car, so it doesn’t break the bank when the parts swapping comes in full effect... thanks outermost. We have a few other cars I’m going to start on soon.
Nice..
Cool ride! First time viewer. The car reminds me of the Munstermobile from the sixties tv series. Sounds awesome. Big Al from Connecticut.
Thanks Allen, it ended up being a 351Windsor engine. Thanks for the support
Is this Big Als toy box? for those who don't know big Al's toy box he sells a lot of blown engines and naturally aspirated engines if this is the same guy. And he's been in the business for years and years. And don't worry he has Chevy Ford and Dodge the last time I was on the website.
@@tomtee4442 Sorry my man, different Big Al, but sounds like someone I’d get along just fine with. I do have some nice toys, blown etc. Big Al.
I think your son was holding the bake. Lol
Lol hahaha probably
Excellent video and toy to have for sure!
Wow that's pretty cool
Good parts car to build a T hotrod from.
NEAT RIDE
put paddle tires on it and use it for sand drag racing..
The pic on the camera wobbling as it starts awesomeness
You should play the Munsters intro music......
Those were the washer then the gasket is so you don't smash the gasket all the way out they go down and hit the head and hit the valve cover and then they stopped the gasket from being smashed out Love your video
Very cool !! 👍👍👍
Thanks brother! Much appreciated
Good job!!!
Love the old Glory
Right on Kevin!
