Your generosity of time (and ammo) is always appreciated. This is a great public service.
Best and baddest pistol packin grandpaaawwww on the internet. Hands down
This vid was EXACTLY what I was looking for to get a general feel for the recoil of sub compact 9mm vs .40 recoil. Thanks Hicock, you rock!
Hickok, every time I think of a test or comparison I would like to see, I find it in your video collection. You provide a great service to people like me and have fun while you're doing it. Thanks!
"If you consider me human" I don't. Anyone who can shoot like that is probably not human.
I think you’ve shot so much you naturally are aware of each pistols kick. I honestly didn’t see very much difference between you arm movements, but did hear a bigger bang between the three.
Thanks again for taking the time to film and post. I always enjoy your videos.
@bull068 , Yes, and I qualified with it at the local police range, but not with hollowpoint ammo. :-)
Another use for a target! Love the videos Hickok keep em comin
Can you all see any visual difference between the G26 and G27? It's not dramatic, but I think I perceive a more powerful jump, even if it's not that much higher. There seems to be more rearward thrust against my arm, as well.
Yet another great video. And kudos to you for an inventive solution to show muzzle flip.
BTW, thank you for taking time out from the teaching duties and still being able to put out these informative videos for us. We salute you, Sir.
your so cool Hickok 45 thanks your videos are so entertaining and knowledgeable
2:20 "If you consider me human." No, your not human, this is why we watch your video's in AWE as you pull any gun & drill steel!!! Just sayin......
Simple yet, effective demonstration. Thanks.
Hickok, thanks for the informational vids!
This is probably the best video on recoil.
Between 9mm, 40, and 45, I find the recoil of the 45 most comfortable. It's a push... not snappy like 40 or even a 9mm. However, 9mm is more affordable to shoot.
excellent videos hickok 45 i am learning alot of good information from them..
Liked the set up! I just bought a glock 27 gen 4 and I love it. Your videos made the choice easy.
Yeah, I tend to hold my Glocks sideways after having watched too many "thug" movies! :-)
hickok45 now that the 4th generations have came out which Glock would you personally recommend for a 5”7 120 pound male with smaller hands I’m looking for the lowest recoil
Yoda The Clover Holder mostly for competition and range practice I also checked out the KelTec pmr-30
@@Vonnister did u ever get something
The reason I bought the g20 in the first place was that I believe the 10mm to be the "does everything" round. It is suitable for protection in the woods or the streets, it is terrific fun to shoot at a range or out in the desert, it is very flat shooting and accurate for competition shooting, or long range target shooting, and because of its flat trajectory and high energy, it is a good hunting round as well.
It does everything great. Only two drawbacks, grip size and recoil (for some people)
Yep, I should post a warning on most of my videos to folks in a hurry or with short attention spans. :-)
Another great video Hicock45... Which most of you already know, Another cause of more recoil is weight, if u have a .45 that weighs 20 ounces and another that weighs 30 ounces you'll have less recoil from the 30 ounce because the energy from the blast will have more weight to bring up...
One can calculate all sorts of things; the practical experience is about all that matters to me. Difficult to convey, though, through a video, of course.
Hey Hickock, great video - it was very interesting to see how you fired the gun. Could you make a video where your trigger and triggerfinger is in zoomed in focuz when you shoot at a target! I think that would be very educational to see! Thanks!
Your a great resource keep the videos coming
Thanks !!
@Mizzsekcnsweet , You'd need to get to a rental range and try them in order to have any worthwhile information.
i love .40 ❤
Yamil caban
awesome video hickok.
Very Helpful! Thanks again sir!
I am very impressed with your control of that doubletap 10mm out of the g29. Doubletap ain't no joke, especially when compared to other factory 10mm ammo such as blazer or Remington.
After I got my G20 I have fallen completely in love with the 10mm. I'm considering the G29 for CCW.
Very good my friend!
I enjoy your videos a lot.
I got a Glock 26, and I love it, it's a little great weapon.
Thanks
Ive carried a g23tb for a very long time now. Love the 40cal. Really wantin a 10mm tho just wish the g29 was a lil bigger size wise to the 23. Loved this vid.
Nice Video. Good quality. I did the same thing with a G26 and G19. To my surprise the 26 showed less recoil on the video. Wouldn't have guessed that.
Nice video, thanks for making it.
The G29 is a nice gun; it's just a lot heavier and thicker than the G27. Of course, it needs to be to fire the 10mm round.
do you realize mr hickok45 that you will always be considered a youtube legend? keep all the great videos comming and thanks
Love this video !
Helpful actually, thanks
I noticed that at the end of the the three demonstrations, you ran the .40 almost as fast as the 9MM, but the 10MM at a more deliberate rate. Relatively speaking, the Model 29 seems to demand more respect from the shooter than the other two. Thank you. This is exactly the video I was seeking.
because the 10mm and .40 have slower follow up shots as you can see
@Senicova , I have an FAQ on that.
Nice vid. Good point of view on recoil. Agree that everyone is different, however, like you said, you get use to it and don't notice it. Bottom line is practice. thx
Yes, stock, flush magazines. I dislike the Pierce grips that many people like.
Awesome demonstration
Looks like 9 one line .40 two lines 10mm 3 lines. Pretty straight forward. Thanks Greg!!
I've not owned one. The only Springfield pistols I've owned and own are 1911s. They are pretty good guns, I understand, though.
Excellent Vid, Hickock, and more scientific than you think. You can definitely see the difference in recoil. I carry the G29, as you may recall, and you're right; more kick, biut it don't hurt a bit. =)
Glad to hear it! We need more 10mm shooters out there.
There is a local gun shop in my city that is always sold out of 10mm ammo. I asked the owner why he doesn't order more at a time. His answer was "It just isn't a popular caliber. Not good business to order stuff most people never heard of." So I said "But you always sell out..." He looked a little confused and said "Well, yeah.. but it isn't that popular!"
I just shook my head and left.
"we've got human error, if you consider me human"
what a badass haha
Hello
You mention glock26 and glock27 in nine
Loved the information. I really learn a lot from all if your listings
nice video! my favourite glock is the model 19 a very reliable gun!
picking up my glock 29 sf this sat. first glock, I can't wait
.40 cal has been my favorite, but after seeing how the 10mm acts, which seems pretty controllable, i am leaning towards it. i would take a .40 cal over a 9mm any day, but the 10mm seems pretty practical as well. im going to have to get down to the range sometime.
from what i seen the 40 kicks just a little more than the 9mm. but the 10mm has much more recoil.
hickok45 is exactly right as always. I have personally dry-fired my glocks tens of thousands of time and they still run 100% in competitions. The only modern firearms that will be damaged by dry-fire are rimfire weapons - mainly your .22LR.
hicock45 is AWSOME!
I carried an colt officer 45 acp for over 10 years. I switched to the glock 27 and have been carrying it for over 5 years and compared to the officer the 27 has no recoil and is a please to shoot. I consider the 29 for woods carry but I desiderate for the versatility of the glock 30 with a 460 Rowland conversion. it does have a little bit of a kick but its very manageable a lot more than a lot of 44 revolvers and you can still shoot 45 acp 45+p or ever 45 super.
I think that most experiences shooter will agree that the recoil of all these common rounds are nearly negligible once you've practice shooting your gun and have put hundreds of rounds down range. Practice makes perfect. Don't fear recoil, find a gun that fits your hand like a glove and that you can consistently carry. Another great video Hickok!
You can see the differences in this video. If you shoot a G26 (9) and a G27(40), you will feel a difference and the movement of the muzzle is greater. Both guns are the same size so the difference is due to the bullet characteristics. The difference in recoil characteristics matter when it comes to accuracy and speed in your follow up shots. BTW - I once filmed myself shooting G36 - was amazed at how far the muzzle flipped up on me. Had to retrain myself for better grip and stance, etc.
LOVE YOUR VIDS FROMSOUTH AFRICA
I laughed when you said [ if you consider me human ] lol Love your videos
Great guy. Always provides humble and honest videos with some silly jokes sprinkled in. Haha.
Interesting premis...I am stuck between the 26 and 27 as I currently carry an XD 3" 9mm but wanting to go to a smaller CCW such as the 26. 34 years of military (Cav) M1911A1 and holding my horse with my left hand ... I enjoyed your presentation. Thanks
I just bought my g29sf today at a gun show and plan to get my CCW next week.
If you are concerned about over penetration, don't be. Most regular factory ammo (remington and the like) are underpowered anyway. Usually barely above .40S&W levels and about even with most .45ACP.
DoubleTap or BuffaloBore have a LOT more power, but in lighter bullet weights (135g-165g) with hollow points, the penetration will be about the same as a heavy grain .40 or .45, but with more energy transfer.
@mossbones1 Authorities generally don't recommend compensated handguns for carry. Muzzle blast can hamper your night vision, among other problems. Tritium night sights are recommended.
Thanks for the comparison. I am considering the Glock 29. I may put a Hogue sleeve on the grip though.
@bart4111 , I"m still leaning to shoot.
Very helpful!
I would have thought the 10mm would have kicked way more.
I have one also a 17. They are great I was looking at the Glock 33 Gen 3 (for cost savings $499) or the Gen 4. If you get the 26 you will love it.
The sound of the different calibers were distinct. 9mm seemed to be longer. Like when thunder rolls by. 40cal was a little higher pitch and slightly shorter on the reverb. 10mm was much louder, deeper, and had more reverb then the 9mm.
This was an interesting video because in all of your other videos you control recoil and flip so well no matter what you are shooting that it's impossible to get any ideas about those issues.
I don't know if you have any .45 Glocks (I can't recall seeing you do any before) but it would interesting to see this recoil demo with a .40 vs. .45
awsome vid :D you give alot info which is awsome ! i was just wondering do you have any glock 17 ?
The 40 and the 10mm seem to push your hand back a bit more than the 9mm. As expected the 10mm seem to push back the most. Thanks for posting. I found it quite interesting.
I think I've pretty much settled on the .40S&W finally. The Glock 23 is my favorite so far from online reviews, specs, forums, etc. The Springfield XD comes close because I like the grip safety, but apparently it's a little less accurate than the glock. I need to get to a store and see how they feel though.
That G29 looks like a beast!
I think the sound reflects how the recoil was displayed. 9mm was smooth, making it steady, 40cal was a bit sharper or "snappy", 10mm was like the 9mm but had much more power.
I honestly don't notice a big difference in recoil between a comparable (size, weight) 9 mm and 40 cal pistol, in my own experience. Your video seems to also demonstrate this, based on the muzzle rise and arm movement from both after each shot.
It is my opinion, based on experience, that if you can proficiently handle a 9 mm then you can easily adapt to the 40 and the recoil should not be a deciding factor in determining which to choose.
the best thing about the video is the semi-automatic assault stapler :P
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! HE WAS LIKE " AND AGAIN WE GOT HUMAN ERROR, IF YOU CONSIDER ME HUMAN"........awesome, and a badass shot too......
"high capacity assault stapler" lol awesome. nice videos. I have a Glock 30
In my 27 I shoot the 9mm, the 40 sw and the 357. I enjoy the kick, I just adjust to my target.
The 40 sw shoots a little high and to the left, the nine is straight and easy and the 357 sig is powerful but keeps me on target better than the 40 sw.
Clear Combat Self Defense and Fighting System .357 Sig is my round of choice for Self Defense, then my .22" Pythons!!...😂😂😂
I have super beginners question. How do you lock your wrist and control muzzle flip better?
2:20 Don't worry Mr Hickok, we consider you to be human
Most of my experience has been with a S&W 442 J frame with +P loads.
How does the recoil of a Glock 27 compare?
Thanks.
I like your videos...you are a good guy...greetz
Hey Hickok that was a fun and interesting video. I lol'ed at that part "if you consider me human". I don't know man. Sometimes your ability to hit those targets seems inhuman.
you should do a video like this for the gen 4s!
Nice video. I have a G27 and a G22 and with 165gr target load I find it kicks a little more than the G17 I borrowed for comparison, but it's quite manageable. Strangely, I seem to get in the "groove" quicker with the G27 down at the range than with the full size G22, not sure why. Also did some checking and nobody offers JHPs for your hi-capacity assault stapler :-(
very helpful
@eFFdRacing I have the glock 27 and I bought a Lonewolf distributers 40-9 conversion barrel. So my 27 is a 40 when I want to change it to a 9 I just drop in the barrel and my glock 17 mags and Is becomes a 9mm pistol. Works great and 9mm are cheaper then 40 ammo.
Good video ^ ^
Galco Summer Comfort
Knowing Hickok, he probably has a fully automatic recoil-operated assault stapler on the farm, obviously manufactured before 1986. Talon grips.
What is a good conceal/carry pistol for first time buyers/ shooter.
very simple, easy to understand your example,,so many others go into such extreme details,it flies above my head and I lose interest in those videos
Yeah, eventually . :-)
can dry shooting, like I seen you do at the end damage the glock? I had a Taurus PT 111 Pro 9mm, and I was told not to dry fire for reason that it can damage a gun. Just wonder if that goes for the Glock?
@pccchurch, Sorry, flattery will get you nowhere; I'm already married.
high capacity semi-automatic assault stapler, god your brilliant
Good Video 9mm all day almost no recoil, 40 just a tad more, then the 9mm, the 10 mm is just a tad more then the 40 !!
All easy to shoot !!
