  • In today's video I am showing how to read drawings in construction and how to take basic information and what to have a look when dealing with drawings. I am using a GA drawing and few sections showing how they work together and what particular lines mean.

    Thank you greg I like to calibrate the plan view drawings in bluebeam then convert pdf to png using an online converter then in photoshop create a very large high resolution pixel canvas and then crop and stitch the drawings together then export the drawings as one large high resolution PNG then in my cad program geo locate it. And use them as layerd backgrounds. So I have all of the information in one place. There is a way to use google chrome settings to give you 8k resolution maps as well but this is only really for delivery of measured cable networks for roads or towns or just to have a presentation pdf of planned works.
    Thank you again

    I also need to know the methodology used for calculating steel quantity since back in India it is quite different as we calculate the weight of the bar by multiplying with its bar weight however in Canada, it's quite different as I can see from the textbook that it is given in terms of mass criteria as kg/mt and even the bar sizes too, they are different, as I can see they are shown in 10M whereas in India it is given in mm. So, I hereby request you to make a video on calculating steel and concrete quantities.

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  Před 11 dny

      Hi! Rebar quants depending on design so if you know how many kg you still need to 'change' it for the rebar di and spacing. UK is in mm as well. I am not calculating rebar quantity as these is provided on the rebar schedule drawings - I only take 1 cube off concrete for every 7850kg steel for the big big pours ;)

    • @SITENG

      Hi! Not always, often it's just a step and to make it possible you need the fold in the slab which creates that thickening.
