    Love love love this video!!!! I’m a huge fan of Japanese and Korean skincare (it’s actually how I started my very first skincare routine),
    I was fortunate to live in Japan for a year as part of my university course and I agree Kyoto is so beautiful :)
    Incidentally, there is a UK website that sells Korean skincare called Beauty and Seoul. If you love Klairs and Purito they are both sold here. They only take a few days to be delivered as their warehouse is in the uk. I love this website :)
    I hope you will do another video like this later on as it was so enjoyable to watch.

I always get the Hada Labo Gyoku Jun HA (light) and CosRX cleanser, which I use in the morning in the shower. The other nice thing is, they always send a variety of little free samples with your order. I’m in Australia, but it still usually takes a couple of weeks to get here.

    Timeless Vit C has been my holy grail for years now ( even though its not a Japanese or Korean brand), its a much cheaper but just as good as Skinceuticals Vitamin C. Living in Asia I am so incredibly fortunate to have fairly easy access to all of these products. Even though it has been taken off the market and is in the process of being reformulated, Purito had the most wonderful unscented spf! I dont think I have ever met anyone who tried it and didnt fall in love with it. The joy of J& K beauty is that the majority of the products are really good and very affordable!

    DHC Soothing Toner - was a revelation that toners could hydrate rather than the grease strippers of my youth. Then got a Japanese urea moisture water beginning with S whose name escapes me. I also like Dr Jart’s ceramide range. Like others, I’m slightly sceptical of the UV protection & whether the lab measures to test are exactly comparable to EU standards. I’m not down on chemical sunscreens (I currently use Altruist face fluid which is a mixture)but for the eye irritation thing my holy grail would be mineral with J & K consistency. There is a Timeless UK site but no 20% Vit C available, the sister site Barefection has a number of J & K products if you’re in a rush. I do like that YesStyle has a lot of stuff in mini size to try out.

    Problem with the Asian sunscreens for me is they're formulated more for incidental uv exposure-indoors and short journeys outdoors along with wear sun hats and use parasols-how the Japanese and Koreans protect themselves from the sun. Lab Muffin wrote about this on her blog.
    If I want to spend a few hours working outdoors in the garden or am out for the day in the sun I want a sunscreen that's formulated for typical use here in Europe, so I stick to LRP, Garnier and Avene European formulations. The ones out this year from those brands are elegant formulations anyway while having the newest and best broad spectrum filters like TriAsorB.
    Also after a couple of Asian sunscreens failing to have the stated sunscreen I don't trust them to protect my Fitzpatrick type 1 skin.

    • @happleducky
      @happleducky Před 3 lety +2

      When I do outdoor activities like hiking, I definitely prefer a western sunscreen brand like from Neutrogena or EltaMD in the US, but Shiseido, which owns the Anessa sunscreen brand, is also a very reputable company for sunscreen. The recent sunscreen controversy only had to do with select Korean sunscreens, with the most popular brands being Purito and Dear, Klairs. For anyone looking for a heavy-duty sunscreen in East Asia, Anessa's waterproof formula and Biore's Athlizm line work well for my Fitzpatrick type 3 skin.

    • @greenknitter
      @greenknitter Před 3 lety

      @@happleducky Thanks for that info Leni. I would trust Shiseido actually-it's been available here in my country for many years so has had to pass stringent EU sunscreen standards so I trust it. C (am now giving Emepelle a try) when it was still in the old packaging, and liked the product--not the longevity. Nadine, how long does the Timeless Vit C last in the new pump before it goes south? I may be looking at it again if the Emepelle doesn't pan out. Also, the sun screens are very tempting as is the Klairs. Thanks for this post. It is something I've been wondering about.

      I use this SPF and find it easier to apply it in 2 lighter layers - so 1 fingers worth rub in and let absorb a little then a second layer rather than two at once. As it is so runny 2 fingers worth all in one go just feels like it’s sliding all over your face

      Hey having followed the updates, it is not a Korea specific issue their are many western sunscreens (same numbers compared to Korean sunscreens) so the explosive worry surrounding Korean sunscreen is just racism. But I assume that’s not your intention, what I’ve been looking for is specific products being taken of the market and reformulated. A mix of filters also assures me that I’m getting good protection from a sunscreen. Lab muffin as well as Charlotte Palermino have both been great at commentating on this issue 🙃
