    this plugin is a great take on how to tackle the issue that most of our sample folders are barely used

    I can't believe nobody thought of this before, it's just brilliant and so simple

    This is a great plugin, I have it since the release and with all the cool updates since then it's so handy and intuitive.

    Love this plugin. Hope they add a slice mode, which will automatically assign the slices of drumloops to different keys, like FL Slicex.
    When I started out making music, I mainly used samples for all my tracks. But as my sample collection grew, this became cumbersome. I got Atlas, which is great to solve this problem for drums. But Rando is a great addition for chromatic samples as well.

      Yea I agree! I think they have added a slice mode (not sure if it triggers chromatically but thats also a great idea) in the latest update

    Gonna have to try this. I am honestly sick of auditioning the same first 50 kick drums from my hundreds of samples folder and going "yeah that one's good" I barely know what other cool shit is in there!

    This is defo more efficient than the follow action method in Ableton. Will def add it to my workflow

    all of my samples are perfectly organised
    except for a giant folder with hundreds of wav files and also subfolders with subfolders in them, also containing breakbeats which should be sorted like everything else but are in a completely random spot

    I like this approach to discover sounds that work well together but wouldn’t normally be paired.
    XLN’s XO drum mapping is another way to approach this. A bit more manual though.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Yea! I'm kinda drawn to the totally random or semi-random aspects because it does exactly that, give you unusual pairings. But also for larger loops/sequences etc

    • @SchibbiSchibbi
      @SchibbiSchibbi Před 2 měsíci

      XO drum doesn't compare bro. Rando fills the keyboard with random samples, XO you need to set all by yourself, which is exactly the point of why having Rando

    Does it lay out tonal sounds on keys so there is one tonal sample after the other all key matched to the notes on the keyboard?

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 4 měsíci

      I believe you need to either use the base note that's in the sample, pitch it to a global root note or switch to chromatic and play each note. However I'm sure such a feature wouldn't be hard to integrate. Not sure if you saw my video on gRainbow? It's granular so pretty different but it sorts samples into chromatic keys and does a similar thing to what you're asking, albeit granular synthesis so a bit less useful for one-shots etc

  • @HOLLASOUNDS
    @HOLLASOUNDS Před 4 měsíci +2

    This didn't solves the issue of My samples not being organised, I still have to organise My samples. I have to keep duplicate of the previous before sorting otherwise older projects are missing samples because I moved them.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 4 měsíci +1

      What DAW do you use? Does it not have a "Find all" for missing samples? That's usually an easy fix, just "find all" select your entire sample directory and give it a few minutes

    • @HOLLASOUNDS
      @HOLLASOUNDS Před 4 měsíci

      @@DashGlitch Reason 12, yes it can find most samples however not always plus I need to be able to open up old projects on 4 and 12.

    Whoever finds it useful more power to them, and I hope the makers get a decent compensation for the work they did, but for me its useless. If I want a cool sound I'd very much prefer to spend my time trying to synthesize it instead of scrolling through endless folders of mostly things that I don't want. This looks like another type of scrolling, random instead of going in order - not better just different.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Před 4 měsíci

      If I had to synthesize every kick and snare from scratch every time, i'd still be busy with my first album ;)

    My goal is to get rid of samples completely. It's going quite well. I still use Beatmaker, Nexus, sample instruments etc. But Kick2, synths, physical modeling is the way forward for a sample free environment. But for vocals I will still use samples a while longer.
