"All human wisdom is contained in these two words: 'Wait and Hope.'"
Favorite classic story of all time
French cinema seems to be reclaiming their classics these days, what with the Three Musketeers and all that.
The Three Musketeers was heavily criticized for the changes in story. The same thing will happen to the Count of Monte Cristo. Even the second Three Musketeers film had a box office drop
The West only has incompetent screenwriters who distort the original material to convey feminist content and other ideologies.
They will insert fmeinism into the Count of Monte Cristo in which the Count will have an abusive relationship with Haydee.
Interview with actress Anamaria Vartolomei talking about the character she plays Haydee:
In the original
“Two roles that seem far apart on paper. However, rebellion is the common denominator of these characters: Haydée will free herself from the psychological influence of Monte Cristo, when Maria Schneider, despite her trauma and her drug addiction, will refuse to conform to the model that the society of the spectacle had planned for her. “It is essential to tell the stories of free, autonomous and independent women who dare to say no and assert themselves,” assures the young actress, totally in tune with the aspirations of her generation. Her feminist consciousness was forged through artistic collaborations and readings (Nora, the modern and independent heroine of A Doll's House, the famous play by Henrik Ibsen, is her model), or by observing her mother, a nurse who had to rethink her life by changing countries. His family remains the foundation on which a solid and determined temperament was built.”
Woke culture needs to be destroyed.
Too bad three musketeers was pretty bad. I had high hopes for it.
The best adaptation of this classic was done in 2002 and the Count was played brilliantly by Jim Caviezel. And in my opinion there will never be any better version of this movie then the 2002
Great to see it done in French
I genuinely can't wait for this to be out
I do enjoy the story even the film adaptations. I am sure I’ll enjoy this one too.
This looks great.
Dang this is going to be good. A real movie at that!
No one tops Jim Caviezel❤
Totally agree but I will say this also looks pretty good.
He was awesome but the way they butchered that scenario compared to the novel was shameful...
The 2002 adaptation is garbage.
In the book, the count lost interest in Mercedes and marries an Eastern princess.
The count is a rich and powerful man like Julis Caesar and Caesra had the young queen Cleopatra as a lover. A man like the Count would never be interested in returning to Mercedes.
Caesar was married and this did not prevent him from having an affair with Cleopatra, it would not be an old engagement that would be an obstacle for the king and his young princess, Haydee.
The film The Prisoner of Château d'If (1988) is the best adaptation of the book.
@@GaiusJuliusCaesar-dx9nl That's fair, compare most movies to the book and you're going to come up short...I however have not read the book so can't comment on that. As a stand-alone film, it was very enjoyable for me personally.
As much as I do believe that some movies should be remade.... This one probably was not one of them. The Movie with Jim Caviezel and Guy Pierce is fantastic and I believe still holds up. If you haven't seen it i HIGHLY RECOMEND IT.....
completely- still adore it today
I'll look for that, thanks. I only knew of the Antonio Banderas one.

C'me on, mate. Have you ever read the book? That Hollywood bastardization was an enjoyable but shallow story that does not transmit anything of the original story's depth and wisdom. There is certainly room for better screen versions of The Count of Monte Cristo. Not to mention the fact that, surprising as that may be for Americans, the language spoken in France is French, not English.
that movie is an insult to the magnificient story that the count of montecristo is. Imagine! The count ends with mercedes instead of the beautiful young Hayde!

this book made me the man today!
will this be closer to the book than any other movie?
So far, the closest interpretation of count of montecristo i've watched is an anime
How long is this? I would like to see the whole book done for a change.
3 hours long
@@AuxaneST Thank you very much. Certainly not going to get the whole novel in that space of time.
There will also be a television series with 8 episodes. With Sam Claflin as the Count and Jeremy Irons as Abbé Faria.
@@user-sv8ol6vu5k Now that's really cool. In 8 hours, there will be a chunk of time to tell other parts of the story and not just the usual done over again. Thank you very much.
I am older, and do not to spend my time reading a movie screen. You miss the visual message and the body language.
By Alexandre Dumas.
"Dumb-ass?" "You'll like it; it's about a prison break."
I hope they do it properly. Not modern woke crap.
Revenge movies, drama serials, books and novels are killing the humanity. The whole film and tv industry need to take u turn. People, new generations need to learn how to sacrifice, how to forgive, how to letting go. I, myself, watching movies etc from my childhood. How badly I was affected and addicted to revenge, I can't explain. Even my wife, my colleague, my labour, my companion, the thief who shots and my left femur was badly fractured, who stealing my money, means anyone you named who cross my path, I was prepared myself to take revenge from all of them.
But after the long long sufferings I came into that decision, that we human are not born to, not built to take revenge, to think negative thoughts. These cruel habits destroyed us. These are the main hurdles who prevent us from the great success. If we wanna a big success, we would like to achieve greatness then we need to learn letting go, to forgive, to love, to help, to nourish, to enrich, to nurture, etc one another.
hmmm the girl is def not Ornella Muti...
It will not match the level and class of THE COUNT OF MONTE-CRISTO 1...
That trash American film. All Americans can do is make terrible films out of excellent books.
The horrifying 2002 adaptation is not the first adaptation of the French book.
There is a film from 1908.
@@Mulhergostaedehomemrico It's fantastic.
The woke culture that is inserting feminist content into the story and distorting the count's relationship with Haydee.

the wokes ruined my favorite book.
Europe is culturally dead And long live Vladimir Putin, the greatest enemy of woke culture
Man Baby,
ZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZZZ
Shame on you for cheering on a genocidal dictator that is daily killing, raping and torturing civilians, women, children, old people. If you think feminism is worse than this, you need to get you head checked.
I'll stick with the movie starring Jim Caviezel in the role. That movie hat an essential that this movie trailer does not....heart.
On va éviter. Encore une fois. Le cinéma français!
Vous avez raison, Nous irons au cinéma à votre place. Restez chez vous bien au chaud. 🙃
Pas une grosse perte. Ne sortez pas...
