- Jim Caviezel started gaining prominence as an actor in the 1990s with roles in dramas and action movies like Wyatt Earp, The Rock, and G.I. Jane. He received critical acclaim for his gripping portrayal of private Robert Witt in Terrence Malick’s epic war film The Thin Red Line.
In the 2000s Caviezel continued starring in popular movies like Angel Eyes and The Count of Monte Cristo. But his biggest -- and most controversial -- movie to date was Mel Gibson’s biblical drama The Passion of Christ, in which he played Jesus Christ.
But today Caviezel is nowhere to be seen in Hollywood anymore. Here is why he was dropped by Tinseltown.

5 years ago sound of freedom wrapped up...and got suppressed. Finally in 2023 the movie was shown in theaters. Jim Caviezal is so much more than a handsome actor....he is a hero.

I do not understand how anyone could consider the movie " The Passion of the Christ" controversial. Jim Caviezel is a man of integrity and I applaud him for that. He is a devout Catholic. Jim Caviezel regrets NOTHING. I remember watching the Passion in theaters. People were stunned, bowing down literally on their knees, some crying, and some wailing. I remember a teenage girl and her brother embracing their mother, and she was crying, "Mom, I want to change" and her mother said, "We will go to Church again." I will never forget the overwhelming peace in that room. Hollywood, money, or fame is nothing compared to the Lord Jesus and the rewards that He has in store for those who love Him and have kept the faith.

I'm not religious, but Caviezel is a tremendous actor - mesmerising and a real presence. He's also a man of principle - not something Hollywood is noted for, as recent events have shown.
I don't understand why "The Passion of the Christ" is considered controversial as far as how graphic it is.
It shows the magnitude, the pain, the suffering, the anguish, and ultimately, the love, that Christ has for us. The passion and the strength of the King of Kings, Lord of Lords.
At this point being blacklisted or hated by Hollywood means you have morals and are a good person
The passion brought millions to the Lord what Jim and Mel did was a blessing for many lost souls.

Dude, I just read in his career bio that while filming Passion of the Christ, he actually got struck by lightning, was hit with pneumonia and hypothermia but he didn't quit the filming and continued even after that. That Man is a Boss!
