A half bridge controller is used for a Switched Reluctance Motor or SRM that don't have magnets. If you have magnets, you want full bridge to Push them away, otherwise, they create drag and big inefficiency trying to stick to the un-energized coil. SRM motors are now replacing Induction Motors which don't have magnets either.
My friend Brittany Benzaia used a full bridge design for a switched reluctance centrifugal compressor in a water cycle air conditioner. Apparently, it's worth the complexity to not have the rotor flux reversing which increases iron losses. The compressor spins at over 100k RPM at full power so maybe that doesn't apply for a switched reluctance motor spinning at lower speeds. My guess is that the stator is made of a material with much lower iron losses since it doesn't have to withstand the extreme centrifugal forces the rotor has to.
This is really cool. Thanks for the tips and lesson. I once taught of building an esc on my channel but I never got around to planning it out. Big ups.
Thanks, very well explained. You've divided the motor into individual poles, neither delta nor wye. Will this controller work for a rewound squirrel cage AC motor; re-wound to handle high amps and low voltage.
Hard drive disk platters can be made of either aluminum, or glass, and are coated with a magnetic material. The last set of drives I tore apart used glass platters and they shattered into sharp shards when I accidentally dropped them on cement.
Did you implemented zero crosing and communication timing difference by 30 angle in your code i am talking about your full bridge esc Because firing before proper commutation time may leads to more current consumption i am talking about techniques used in avr 444 appnote page 11 .
i got a question master.... im new to these bldcs or esc etc... but how can we say the motor is being drived imean the drivers doing the best and motor is at perfect rotation perfectly via using an osciloscope ???
The PWM frequency is rather slow by default when using AVR8 chips through Arduino, tending to cause an audible buzz and vibration. // You could use something like this for the t85: TCCR0B = TCCR0B & 0b11111000 | 0b001; // 32.35kHz
Rather than change the software to handle PWM just add an RC filter to the input and you get an analog voltage so 2 components will eliminate having to change working software ;)
I have broken my ESC from makita machine but I cant find any replacement for esc . I was waiting for you selling your ESC .i remember you planing to build one you would sell..
Thanks sir very useful demo I also done the bldc controller with 3 led but it has no starting torque just rotate shaft and than it works perfectly What can I do to improve my controller Pls suggest
Nice work. You've now done delta motors and Star motors. Track down a Star/Delta motor and try controlling them? I know these will be hard to find as they are old hat now.
Hello teacher! Firstly, thanks for sharing. What is the difference between your circuit (half bridge), which uses Arduino, and the others shown on the internet but which do not use Arduino? Another thing: instead of the AMS1117, can the LM7805 be used? P.S.: And if I'm not asking too much, is it possible to have a connection schematic that's a little clearer to understand? Thanks++
It's not full-bridge and half-bridge, it's full-wave half-bridge (Larionov's circuit, can bias windings positive and negative) and half-wave quarter-bridge (Mitkevich's circuit: positive OR negative biasing only). ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Трёхфазный_выпрямитель - it's about rectifiers, but also actual for inverters.
At 8:40 - you can see that there are voltage spikes on the phases that are off. Wouldn't it be possible to connect high value resistors and use those pulses as a source of back emf feedback?
Just wondering how you would control a 4 wire motor with the full bridge esc, because you say that the common is there on all the motors but just the 3 opposite ends joined, which is fine, but the other esc controllers you showed only had the 3 wires, no 4th connection, and where does the common go in the std motors we typically purchase? And how would you connect the 4 wire to a 3 wire esc? I have tried connecting one to ground then the other phases as normal and still didn't work. So I am wondering how you do it if you recommend a full bridge over the half bridge controller?
Please, can you make a video on building a simple SMPS circuit, with the basic understanding, because I really don't understand the what components, schematic to use.
Have U got sumthing I can build for my custom RC cars ..I want a simple setup for delta that allows me to have forwards and reverse from vintage radio gear
Hi Sir, My name is Anand, Please tell me Instead of half bridge configuration, can we use full bridge configuration? and what difference will get in both configuration?
uma pergunta o motor vai ter a mesmo velocidade e mesma potencoa? com esse modelo e lidaçao estrela a question will the engine have the same speed and the same power? with this model and star deal
Nice video! Are half bridges more efficient than full bridges? From an energy usage perspective. If it is both simpler and more efficient, then it sounds like the hall effect sensor might be the only major downside.
A long time ago you made a video about an arduino based temperature controller using a PID loop. I was curious if the diode set up that you used to step down from 220V to 5V is a safe method to be run 24/7? If not, then what is the safest method for 110V step down to 5V for sustained “power-on” use?
Hey plz make something f4 flight controller with 4 in 1esc...with arduino and mpu........... 4 esc with flight controller board now most demanding.to make fpv drone............. so plz make something like that........ and plz tell me that arduino nrf ppm receiver can use in any flight controller which support ppm signal
