    He does not, however, tell her why Mark has a British accent in spite of living in America all of his life. Or why Mark dresses like he is from an episode of Delta and the Bannermen.

    Pauline. "Course' I am. Everyone in the square is related to 'er in some way."

      @How Marvellous Am I Pauline was always a battle axe but they really turned her into a nasty piece of work she kept trying to control her children especially Martin she constantly tried keeping him tied to her apron strings and even resorted to lying to him over being terminally ill and even putting it in her will that Martin could keep the house so long as he didn't get back with Sonia. Yeah Sonia cheated but Pauline failed to see one thing and that is despite your own feelings on any matter if your kids are adults its their life their choice either get behind them or you're gonna end up alone and bitter and thats exactly what happened

    People say how they turned Pauline's character 'miserable' but of course she would be, Husband died, her son Mark died, Pete died, Daughterl had left, Martin was the only thing she had left and she was losing him, so it's understandable her being miserable, not like she's had a happy life.

      Rory Attwood True. Also Arthur cheated on her once. Then he was framed and sent to prison. Her daughter getting pregnant at 16 by a much older man. Lord, that woman's been through alot! Her kids gave her constant worries.

      She wasn't the only one to suffer though on the show, and the rest didn't choose to use that as some license to take it out on everyone around them, especially the ones who loved her the most. It was constant walking on eggshells, living up to her impossible standards. She wasn't an evil person, but her bitterness was so strong it was hard to notice the difference. They really should've given her a strong storyline about her attitude and why she always felt that way, even when good things happened to her and her family, because to someone like myself who started watching around the time she was said to have become so mean, it looked like she was a terrible person all around, all the time. I know a male version of her and I wonder when he dies, will he be missed? Will the good characteristics even be remembered?

    Pauline was so bubbly at the beginning, and at the end, she turned into a character that everyone hates. They say she was meant to become like Lou, but she was much worse than Lou. Lou was actually like by everyone, but Pauline wasn't.

    What Pauline did was wrong, but i wish they would've let her "win" so to speak. Like instead of killing her off, just let her go live with Michelle, and be somewhat happy again. She was wrong for the way she did Sonia, but for the most part, was right about her, and Martin ignored his mom and kept running right back to her. Sucks they killed her off with such harsh things being said. This episode just aired tonight, so idk if they'll reconcile, but they probably won't. They should've just let her live with Michelle, at least then they could've put in a future episode that she wrote to Martin and apologized or something.

      I agree. Pauline was way too coarse and rude to everyone, Sonia especially, even when she didn't deserve it. I hated the way she would insinuate herself into her grown son's life like his daughter, going too far when she had no business doing so. Somehow by miracle she even found love again, with her sour grapes piss poor poopypants attitude, with a really good man, and what does she do? Treat him like a common criminal as soon as she finds out one bad thing about him, and uses that to punish him 25/8 (that's right she found an extra hour and a day to give him a hard time because she was a grade A biyyooootttccch), and still he more than made up for his faults and she even gave him a hard time before she knew anything bad, and then they got married but she still didn't soften up! She was so high and mighty that even her friends BARELY ever measured up, but she was blessed with many friends and family despite all this.
      I'm no doctor, but I'm going to say in my diagnosis, she was so damn mean she died. Her body couldn't handle all that negativity and hatred she was putting out and just gave up on her, and I swear the second she died everyone who knew her took their first comfortable breath of fresh air in years, consciously or subconsciously because she was just too damn hard to handle. I felt terrible for Martin, don't know if he was more sad or relieved or both when this happened. He was a good man and I'm sure he missed her anyway.

  • @starkid77
    @starkid77 Před 6 lety +4

    Pauline made me less bitter just by watching her daily shenanigans. I was always told that people don't remember you even half as much as they remember the way that you made them FEEL. If this was true for Paula, then she will have a lot to answer for on Judgment Day. She went to church but she acted like she barely ever cracked open the good book and if she did she either missed or ripped out the pages or took a complete crap on the golden rules when she got to them. Maybe she was supposed to represent people not always coming to terms with everything and becoming good before they die, but she seriously needed a visit from the three ghosts of Christmas because she was seriously all Scrooged up. Even downright scoundrels on the show had a softer side than she did, like Johnny freakin' Allen! Even he calmed down sometimes for the sake of it, and because he loved his daughter, and he owned who and what he was, most of the time, which is better than hoity toity hypocrites like Pauline was.
    The actress was amazing though and she will be missed, and I'm sure that she was a lot nicer than her character. She was a matriarch who ruled with an iron fist, but the problem was that her family didn't need or deserve that fist, but an open hand of kindness, and open arms of compassion were replaced by cold hearted, judgmental and mostly negative energy. She added to her family's problems more often than she lessened them, and many times she was the main problem in her family being so stubborn and hard to handle, acting like she was the only one to experience hardship in town. I'm surprised that she even died of natural causes, because she was a step away from being the victim of yet another murder mystery, and she wouldn've had a fair number of suspects. She had a big heart that grew dim and the writing was mostly at fault, even though the show was incredibly written with strong characters, but her personality was strong in the wrong way, sucking away all positivity from everyone around her. Even her granddaughter was frightened begged her to stop being mean which should've been her wake up call because most children are incredibly honest. She's memorable though, and no one can take that away.
