  • This is a personal review of the schwinn aluminum comp 27.5. It has a lifetime warranty on the frame and is commonly bought at Wal-Mart for around $160 in 2018. Brakes and gear shifting is good as well as the overall quality. I am not a bike expert as my thoughts and ideas are to be taken as my personal opinion of the product.

    Hey man, i just looked it up on walmart website and it seems like it has front and rear disk brakes, could it be a different model? It cost the same 170usd.

      Eduardo Black I’m thinking if maybe an updated model? Im looking at the same one. It also has front and rear disc brakes.

    I have the same bike for Christmas and it's way nicer than any other bikes I've owned personally i live right across the street from a water shed and some cross country and some dirt roads and some regular just concrete roads so far no complaints sometimes I'll have a chain issue
    :edit my back derailed completely bent completely out of place took it to a shop and got that fixed

    The 2018 and 2019 comes with disc brakes front and rear, quick release front axle. Also has flat pedals, plastic but flat.

    Just ordered my aluminum comp Schwinn online. Everything seems the same except the silver paint job and the disc brake in the rear. How do you like the rapid fire shifters compared to the norm twist shifters?

    • @zachmercer4597
      @zachmercer4597  Před 6 lety

      I prefer the rapid shift over the twist shift. Twist shift in my opinion is harder to know what gear your in where the rapid or lever shift is simle one click one shift, as well as it usually being easier to read.

      love it so far, took it on some rough trails and it handles great.

      rapid fire shifter seem to work good. i would definably take it over the twist shifters. It is easier to shift on rough paths with the rapid fire.

    I just looked at one of these yesterday, actually I went to Wal-Mart to check out the schwinn boundary until I realized my huge feet wouldn't let me turn the front wheel lol so I seen this one next to it and actually thought it was much nicer and 40 bucks cheaper. I'd like to know how good it holds up on the trails after you've broke it in a bit. I'm new to mountain bikes and looking for an affordable beginner for trails, fields, roads and pretty much everywhere else lol

      If it was the genesis v2100 I looked into that bike at Wal-Mart. But my idea on that was the schwinn would have better parts on it than the genesis and that their are more moving parts on a slighly cheaper bike could affect the lifespan of the bike. As well as the schwinn is a hard tail which performs differently that a soft tail, like the genesis. But both seem to be good bikes as long as you don't beat the crap out of them.

      cody davis did you look closely at the boundary... walmarr has been known to put the forks on backwards, which will cause your foot to hit the tire when making a turn. My suggestion is when buying a bike from a box store.. get it in a box and bring it to a bike shop and pay the 30 bucks yo have them put it together correctly, this way at least your starting off with the best that that bike has to offer you.

    A tire that’s fatter than a normal bike but not quite a fat bike is called a plus bike

    I just got this bike I haven't put it together yet I'm excited about it. Did you have to do any adjustments to your any gears when you got it home? Thank you for your time

    • @zachmercer4597
      @zachmercer4597  Před 6 lety +1

      The local Wal-Mart employees assembled it for me, but i have not toched my gear adjustments. Only the front and rear brakes. If it cycles through the gears well when you first ride it, it should be fine.

    I bought mine in the uk and the 3rd gear on the left does not work at all have you ever faced this problem?

    • @zachmercer4597
      @zachmercer4597  Před 6 lety

      tony dinh, if your roller chain is at a greater angle the chain need to be more straight in line with itself or it could skip. If it is straight with itself check the gear shift arms to see if they are properly aligned. Worst comes to worst if you just bought it you may have it under warranty.

    Hey Zach or anyone on here that can help. When you purchased the bike howd you get walmart to assemble it? Can you just buy the bike online ship it to a local walmart & get them to automatically assemble it for you so all you have to do is go pick it up? A friend of mine said its pretty easy to assemble but Ive never done it before so would like some input! BTW is this pretty much the best bike for the 200 price point?

    • @zachmercer4597
      @zachmercer4597  Před 5 lety

      So far the bike has been very good to me and i find it to competativly priced for what you get. As for my usage I do trail rides with a few 4 to 6 inch bumps here and there as well as bike paths. I dont abuse it the bike and i currently only weigh around 180. As for the purchaseing, I took it down off the bike rack already assembled. I bet if you asked Walmart they could ship it to the store and assemble it for you there.

    Are these sold in one size only? I'm 6'2" and I'm trying to see if this bike will fit me. Any idea?

    • @zachmercer4597
      @zachmercer4597  Před 6 lety +2

      Backroads83, they are only sold in one size to my knowledge. I am 5 8 and it is slightly larger than i would prefer. But i think it would fit you fine with the seat adjusted properly. Also you can take a look at them at walmart and ajust it to see it would fit.
