I used to work at SEARS in Toronto, about 18 years ago. I did merchandising in Hardware, paint, water/air, garden, toys, Christmas, seasonal, sporting goods. Basically it was my job to make a quarter of the store look beautiful. My customers loved me. They would always ask me what was new for Christmas time. I still have a bunch of signs and things with the SEARS logo on them. I also have 200 paper cups from Kmart with the Kmart logo on them. I wonder what each cup is worth? 4:16 use mine for cutting my 2acre lawn. After 300 hr. Have replaced the deck belt 3 times deck pullys three times drive belt once. It’s always been hard to crank. I will never buy another exmark or toro product.

I wouldn’t use that fly wheel with steam, it has way more power than compressed air. I’m tinkering with a pillow bearing shaft and a big heavy brake rotor as a fly wheel. But with steam i wouldn’t trust a piece of wood.

Including model train sets running. How things have changed. And not always for the better. Excellent video. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

They used to have a clear top for the dirty water tank, which made it easier to see when the water was being sucked into the tank. It was a really stupid design decision to change it to the opaque white tank. Now I have to look more carefully to see if the carpet is still wet or not.

I was a WIC driver decades ago.The woodworking and glass work in some of those houses were amazing. I’d love to see Reynolds corners. There’s no drive videos in that area.

I recall when Sears dominated the market, but now they've become obsolete. It's merely an indication of shifting trends, much like how Hollywood Video closed, or Blockbuster and RadioShack disappeared.

Its just so sad! So big! I fantasize about reopening these stores.

when i was small me and my family went to kmart in Idaho before it closed and i got silver shoes there and i remember walking into the kmart .

Let's hope there will always be people who actually enjoy going out shopping, being around other human beings and not cocooned in their homes. Online buying is fine but it's kind of sad at the same time.

I wonder if that's the same Lazarus family that owns the huge dept store 'Lazarus' in Columbus, Ohio. Not even sure if that store exists anymore!

I remember when it was LaSalle's, had Lion Store at Westgate and of course Sear's, all great stores, nothing stays the same I guess.
