    Great video. Keep on going🔥🔥

    46:43 nice it also transfers movements perpendicular to the "uv" plane

      Good catch! I forgot to mention it, but yes, there are a few nodes specifically for that functionality, and there's even an exposed parameter called "Depth Deform" (0.0-1.0) in case it's not something you want. For those cases, I would also advise to lock the bone controls on those axes, so they don't accidentally get moved along the depth, which will make it more convenient to use.

    Can't believe I'm 3 weeks late to this. THIS IS AWESOME! The Blue Sky Peanuts Movie rigging system lives on! I've been wanting to tinker with geo nodes to attempt something like this, yet here you are sharing the assets! This is awesome and so generous! Thank you! QUESTION: why spline? Why not rig the 2D mesh with armature deform? I don't quite understand the advantage of this "iterative curve deform" when you're already limited by the 2D mesh.

    This is a brilliant video, one I've been looking for for years! I'd be really interested in learning how you now get the inner mouth to work (connect to the lips)

    46:50 Hi @demeterdzadik, what should I press to pose jerry assemtrically because it is symmetrical by default. I tried shift+x but doesn't work. Thanks in advance!

      Oh, I already found it in the tool tab -- pose panel, thanks anyway!

    I really hope this could be a single addon.

      after 6 months is it still difficult ?

  • @gonderage
    @gonderage Před 10 měsíci

    This is pretty similar to how sonic mouths are done, just without the UV transferring

    This is very cool. So can I not use cloudrig if I am using 4.0.1? I tried adding all the past version into rigify and it wouldn't recognize any of them. And the stand alone addon zip can't be loaded in 4.0 either.

    How do I make that pie menu that changes the editor space?

    • @Jonah_Anthony
      @Jonah_Anthony Před 10 měsíci +2

      You have to enable an addon that is pre-packaged with blender called "3D Viewport Pie Menus"

    • @demeterdzadik
      @demeterdzadik Před 9 měsíci +2

      There is one such pie menu that comes with the 3D Viewport Pie Menus built-in add-on, as another commenter said, but my one is slightly different, in this case I created it with the Pie Menu Editor add-on which is available on the Blender Market.

    Cant this be done with duplicating the headshaoe and shrink wrapping the rigged head to the duplicate head shape?

    • @artspam
      @artspam Před 10 měsíci +2

      Not sure if it's what you mean but he mentions a shrinkwrapping approach after 19:00

    • @demeterdzadik
      @demeterdzadik Před 10 měsíci +7

      Yes, you're totally correct, that's what we did on Sprite Fright, so it clearly works and can get you very far. But I consider this an evolution of the Sprite Fright tech. I think it's superior, and this is how I would rig characters for such styles going forward. And this tech can still be built upon with more functionality, for example if Jerry had a nose or ears attached as part of his topology, it wouldn't work great out of the box with what's there currently. I can very easily imagine how I would address that though, and it would involve Surface Deform! ;)
