- Sadly Ethel lost her foal this week. Tuesday was a very difficult day and even now I'm struggling with the fact that I could have lost her. I love this silly little donkey! She's back on the ranch after spending time at 88 Equine in Buffalo, WY. A big thank you to Dr. Dallas Shaw and Dr. Matt Vercimak for saving Ethel.

Oh poor Ethel and poor you. They worm their way into our hearts and we love them no matter how stubborn bullheaded they can be. They are ours and we do the very best for them. I'm so sorry for your loss. Give the pretty girl in the stall some loving for me. Again truly sorry.
Thank you and she’ll get more kisses!
@@OurWyomingLife Hey Erin, Please give Ethel a BIG hug & kiss from me! She is such a sweetheart! ❤ So glad she is well but I am sad she lost her baby.... ❤🙏😪
Erin, I'm sorry for your loss of Ethel's foal. Ethel seems to be handling it well. It is a difficult time for everyone involved. Hope Ethel have a speedy recovery. She's a beauty! Take care, OWL! It is very hot everywhere. Try to stay cool.😊
We will!
Such a hard time to go through..you can hear the emotion in your voice❤
It’s been a hard few days.
I'm sorry to hear Ethel lost her baby.
I'm glad you did what needed to be done to save her. I'm sure she will live a wonderful spoiled life as she should.
😊 Will be excited to see a new friend for her in the future.
It’ll be fun to get another donkey!
I am happy that she is OK and I am sorry that she lost her foal sending prayers
Thank you!
I’m so sorry Erin. Poor Ethel….all things happen for a reason and you both are handling this with grace and dignity. Give Ethel a big ole hug from me…and while you’re at it give yourself one too! You are doing a great job!
Thank you!
Erin, I never knew how you are a true natural in all aspects of the multitude of animals.
I know you were raised on ranch and know it is difficult but you seem to just roll with everything, address it as it comes.
You have definitely won my respect and admiration.
Keep up the good work but take time to take care of yourself.
Erin, you have an amazing heart ~ thank you for sharing Ethel’s story. She is lucky to have you in her life. ❤️
It's good to see Ethel is ok. Sorry about the foal.
Thank you!
I know it's tuff. I lossed a mare when the filly was 6 days old. We raised her and named her Flicker. She wouldn't take a bottle but she sucked the milk out of a bucket. We do what we have to do to be compassionate to the life that is left.
Hope you and Ethel stay well.
❤🫶❤️ North Carolina 🇺🇸
Soo Sorry for the loss of Ethel’s baby ❤❤❤❤prayers for you and your family and Jeff and your other ranch hands friends/Family ❤❤❤
Thank you!
❤ and Big Hugs to Ethel!! She is just special all by herself‼️❤️
Yes she is!
So sorry for Ethel’s and your loss. I had a mini mare that had to have surgery for colic. The vet let me be in the room with them during the surgery. All was going well and then Mae West just died. They think it was a blood clot that killed her. What a horrible day so I know what you went through. We get so attached to our little critters.
Part of me wanted to stay through surgery but I also knew I wouldn’t have handled it well if something happened. I’m so sorry for your loss.
So happy she is still here and back home where she belongs!! Happy days ahead!
Yes!
So sorry! You have had a rough few days and know that we are all praying for you. And for Ethyl! You take care of yourself also.
I will!
Thanks!

I'm so sorry for you, and for Ethel, and the ranch for the loss of Ethels' foal. We all waited so long and to have a result like this is not what we all had hoped for. I admire you for deciding to spend valuable ranch assets to save Ethel. Like you stated, she is now just going to get spoiled. Now we just pull up our big girl pants and move on. Thanks for sharing Erin, I know how difficult it was.

Sorry about the loss to ethel and the ranch
I'm so happy she pulled through. Get her a sweet gelding to live with.
So sorry about the wee foal 😢but glad Ethel is ok ❤
Poor Ethel. Sorry for the loss of the foal.
When I was 14 or 15 I helped a Vet do a C section on a sow. She had eight pigs but only three were alive. It was something that had to be done. Over 65 years ago & I still remember it as if it was yesterday.
Congratulations on your handling of a stressful situation...the outcome was good considering your options...this shows you are a very compassionate rancher...hope you both recover well.
Thank you!
@@OurWyomingLife ❤❤❤❤

Thank you!
Ohh, I'm so sorry!! But you got her taken care of quickly. You're a good owner.
Thank you!
Oh my goodness. Glad Ethel’s doing ok after all that.
I'm sorry that Ethel lost her foal, that's never easy no matter what you have, cow, horse, dog or little donkey's. We had a cow that had twins and a year later was noticeably stressed. After moving her to the holding pin and head gate me and my two son's started checking her and after palpating her I determined the calf was dead. I had to lift her head and while my son's held the legs, raised the head to bring the calf out, which was successful. I'm glad Ethel made it through the experience alive, sorry for the foal loss, sounds like you have a good plan. Good luck, thanks and have a nice day!
I'm glad she made it through everything. She's tough. Her water may need to be changed. That's the way my dogs act when they want fresh water.
You should get in touch with Daniel at Arms Family Homestead. They have mini donkeys. Sorry for your loss on the foul.
We know how you feel. My daughter lost one of our mini mare foals earlier this year. It's a tough one when you have them that is more pet than stock.
❤ TEAM ETHAL !!! You did I would do, even though I don't own one but good news. You need a shirt for merch, TEAM ETHAL I don't know id I spelled her name correctly but you get the gist. Your doing a great job. God Bless You !!!
She would have made a great mother. That happens. Would have been nice to see what it looked like running around. We have some folks here were I live that had like 5 little donkeys. Amazing how small they are. Glad Ethel made it through the surgery. She looks good. We'll pray she has a full recovery make to the Ethel she was. Happy. Thanks for sharing
So very Sorry ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So very thankful Ethel is ok!!
So sorry ❤ maybe when you are ready you can get a foal
Great video.
Continues as always, to be interesting.
Heads-up, us older folks (me), have noticed the volume has been a little low.
I use closed captioning when that happens, so it’s really not a big problem. Just thought you’d like some feedback.
Thanks again for sharing the ranch.
👍👍
I’m so sorry Erin! I know you wanted a baby donkey, but thank goodness Ethel is ok! She is one lucky donkey to have you as a momma! Would you think about getting another breeding age donkey to be her buddy? Grandma Ethel would be cute
I would like a young Jenny donkey.
What a compassionate and loving video!!!! Hugs it all worked out!!!!
I have a donkey... they are so easy to love. I'm glad she's better but I am entirely sad over not seeing an Ethel baby this year.
I hope you work out her breeding difficulties and eventually have a succesful foaling with her.
Poor baby donkey....im so sorry! I'm like u...just a mess over my fur babies. ❤
Such a mess and she’s ok!
@OurWyomingLife it's been worth the journey tho! U r superwomen out there running everything!!! Such an amazing inspiration ❤️
I’m so sorry for your loss. Ethel, you are beautiful! Erin, we see how you love her and all the animals. Gilbert would be so proud of you! ❤
Hey, glad to see you out there doing that yet. I know, it's a tough decision. Been there at least once you're looking good. I'm just shouting out to hanging air top seasons, aint it?
Poor Ethel. She carried that baby for a year and no joy. I never know if animals grieve or if they really understand their circumstances. I hope she forgets quickly and recovers.
Really happy to see Ethel. Glad she’s back and recovering from the surgery. Happy days.
Check Arm 's Family Homestead..they have mini donkeys.
