Last week two Belgian Draft horse mares were on the "direct ship" list at Bowie Texas Livestock. We did an emergency fundraiser for their bail and transport and because of all of your support and generosity we were able to save both of the horses! Both mares were in rough shape and needed medical attention as soon as possible.
This video is an update on how they are doing after we picked them up from the livestock yard, their names revealed, their first week on the farm and how they are doing after seeing Dr. Waggoner at Mobile Veterinary Practice.
Ava, another rescued Belgian Draft horse also went to the vet. Ava was rescued a few months ago before my accident. Both Ava and one of the new girls are going to need surgery to remove the tumors they have in their eyes.
We would like to send a huge shout out to Zoetis and Mobile Veterinary Practice for supporting our herd with donated vaccines for all the horses and donkeys. We truly appreciate your support!

As mentioned in this video we are doing another fundraiser for the medical bills for all three horses. If you can help support this fundraiser we would greatly appreciate your continued support!
Fundraiser for medical can be found at www.bighooffoundation.org
As a growing horse rescue group, we rely on monetary donations to keep the organization moving forward. The Big Hoof Foundation will always be transparent with how your donations are used. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the rescued horses' bail fees, transport, feed, hay, medical bills, medications, alternative medical treatments, supplements, surgeries, etc. Every dollar raised is for the horses!
Our ability to help these horses is only because of the generous donations from our subscribers and followers! Please consider making a tax deductible donation to the Big Hoof Foundation to help us save more of these precious lives from shipping to slaughter and provide them with the care they deserve. Thank you everyone for your continued support in saving these gentle giants! We could not be saving these lives without you!
We hope you enjoy this video! Make sure you like, comments and subscribe to our channel so you don't miss anything happening around here! Because it's never a dull moment!

You don’t need to apologize for fundraising. That’s the only way to keep things going for the horses.😊
I'm praying all goes well for both girls. They couldn't have landed in better hands than yours, Julie. And I'm sure people won't mind digging in their pockets to help with their medical expenses. So, never be embarrassed about asking for that help. We all love what you do for all these horses. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you for saving and giving them a life no one else would have. From your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦 🙏
So do I. But if it doesn't, Fletcher Farms has saved them from the slaughter places. How these intelligent animals are treated there should be criminalized....
Forever grateful to Fletcher Farms ❤❤
Haven't seen you on John's channel in awhile, hope you are doing well. Claudia
@user-qi6yo7xt4l I'm doing well, Claudia. Just very busy with training and teaching. And this year, campaigning 2 of the 3 horses I have in for training. I'll be back in the fall, when things slow down a bit. Right now I'm also helping with summer camp as well. Not enough time to indulge in watching John's videos. By the time I get home, I'm just too darn tired! All I want is a cooling shower, some supper, and my bed!! But I'm staying safe and doing well. Let John know I say hello, please. Your friend, Jenn 💖
These poor girls have been so neglected. I cried watching Fiona accept affection, maybe the first kind hand that ever touched her.
Blessings to all of you for rescuing those Beauties !!! 🙌🙌🙌🥰
Thank you!
Every time you rescue a horse and then have to take them off the ranch for medical care, I always want to reassure them that they are coming back. They have been through so much I don't want them to be scared anymore. Thank you for all you do to give them better lives.
I know. I’m always hoping they aren’t thinking they’re going to be dropped off someplace and neglected.
God Bless You Pearl And Fiona and Fletcher Farm for rescuing these precious lives ❤
Bless you for rescuing these sweet babies. Their feet are so rough too! I bet they will feel so much better with all your love and support.
Those sweet girls, getting the love and care they truly deserve. God bless you ❤❤❤
Thank you Zoetis for helping Fletcher Farms out with its herds vaccine shots.
Two more precious lives saved thanks to the big hoof foundation, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
I'm so delighted and relieved to always see you take aggressive action towards getting them feeling better! My mom passed away, so as soon as I can get my mom's estate on the way, I will send funds to help! Thk you, Julie, for All that you do for these beautiful babes!!!❤🐎❤️👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🥰
God bless your mum on her onward journey 🙏❤️🙏
@MsDormy Thk you!❤️😔 It's been rough...
Very sorry to hear about your mom. Sending good thoughts your way.
So very sorry for your loss. I will say prayers for you and I'm sending you love and hugs ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
@@kristawilson718 my condolences. I watch a lot of NDE’s. She’s having a wonderful time. We are the ones who miss out.🌹❤️✨
So happy these two Belgians were saved and keeping good thoughts for all 3 that went to the vet.
WOW that is quite a herd you have built. Just beautiful!
That swollen leg looks so painful, poor baby. I always thought it was cruel to cut their tails. As many flies that are on them they need a long tail to swoosh them away.
They are beautiful ☺️💕
The two new mayors are absolutely gorgeous. They couldn’t have landed at a better home for them.
Thank you!
You are so kind and gentle with these horses Julie, you make me tear up . I'm sure it's the first time they've ever had a gentle hand on them....
You guys (and your supporters!) are the absolute best. ❤ TYSVM
Thank you so much!
God bless you for saving these beautiful ladies, never apologise for fund raising Julie ❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Glad these girls were rescued by Fletcher Farms 😃🐴❤️ Keep up the great work you do in providing these gentle giants with the best retirement possible.
Too bad about the cancer. The good news is she won’t be suffering she it returns. Such friendly donkeys. In your back pocket. Thank you for sharing.🐴🐴
Love the donkeys! Adorable!
Welcome to the tribe, Pearl and Fiona. Prayers for the surgeries, ongoing cancer treatments, and acuppuncture etc. So glad the new girls were able to be at the vet together and side-by-side, too.
A huge thank you for all who participated in the fundraiser, past and present. Also, a huge thank you to Zoetis for the vaccine donations. Appreciate the names put up on the screen. Love your videos and updates. So excited for Pateron.
Fiona's face got so soft and happy when you were petting her
Awww.. sweet ❤❤
It really did. She even leaned in too a bit. It was so sweet. 💞
I noticed that, too.
Thank you for defending the defenseless. Sweet girls,l pray for them. 🐎😊
Pearl and Fiona are so happy you saved them and they will be safe for the rest of their lives❤
I haven't been watching your channel very long, but seeing the direct ship fundraiser being complete when I saw the video 2 hours after it was posted was heart warming! Wishing them good health and a happy retirement!
Thank you! We appreciate your support!
They do wonderful work for these abused, neglected horses ! 🐎
I'm praying for both girls, they both are extremely lucky that you saved them and that they will now get the care and love they deserve..both girls are in need of good hoof care..
Bless you for rescuing these two beautiful horses. I am sure that under your loving care they will flourish. ❤❤😊😊
I am hoping these girls feel peace and love from now on 💜
Sending love and prayers 🙏💕
Thank you. Blessings on your heads for saving innocent lives.
Thanks for the updates! I hope they can have some comfortable days/months/years to enjoy retirement. 💕🐴💕🐴💕🐴💕
Why is it that the previous owners are never charged with any kind of animal abuse or neglect? It drives me crazy. I just want to cry when I see these horses. Their hooves alone are in terrible condition. I am so happy they are finally going to get the love and care they so deserve 💕
Because, legally, horses are livestock. And, as such, a commodity. There will always be people with "commodity hearts" in conflict with hearts like yours. Keep finding/keep saving.
@@hillbilly4895 thank you for that information. I had no idea. It does explain everything that I see now. Just so cruel breaks my heart
I hope all goes well for the darling girls!💕💕💕
Love and prayers for Pearl & Fiona. Such beautiful girls deserve a lot of love & attention and a long happy life (as long as possible 🥺) 🙏🏻🥰
I love what you are doing for these big beautiful horses. You are very special people.
You are so wonderful to take on the two new Belgian's. Hope everything goes well at the vet.
Julie, your "herd" in the pasture of the intro looks amazing! I know y'all are proud of them!
You have taken on a big job cause u know when u got interested in doing this yrs ago that they would probably all come with medical issues.
Bless u for this huge task.
God Bless You both! That was a long drive!!!
Thank you for saving these beautiful horses! 🧡🧡🧡
God bless you Julie - you had a dream of bringing a little love and hope into this world, and you have done it! Watching your beautiful, but often tired, sad and hopeless equines find rest and love at your farm really is balm to my soul. And countless others I’m sure! I pray for you all, and I will support you as and when I can (I have needy equines who I care for too - as well as humans!) 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for rescuing these two beautiful girls, they are so sweet. ❤
You all are doing a fabulous job with the horses, donkeys & other 4 legged animals. Prayers to all on the Fletcher Farm.❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
It's so wonderful to see how the donkeys love you so much and want to be with you 💖
They are so funny! The horses would do the same but I would get crushed 🤣
Thank you for this video. It gives a real insight to all that goes into responsible
rescuing. People want rescues, but often don't understand the costs involved in doing it, as well all the work,
and knowledge needed to do it right.
These are beautiful horses and it is wonderful they had a first rate rescue
take them on. To you and all that rescue, whatever critters you do,
YOU DO NOT GET THE RECOGNITION AND THANKS FOR THE VALUABLE HUMANE WORK YOU DO IN BEHALF OF INNOCENT CREATURES THAT SHARE THIS PLANET WITH US!!!
WE NEED MORE LIKE YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wanted to share a spot to check on swollen leg for a cut high high up in her inner groin, about where leg meets body. My mare cut herself with her blanket leg strap buckle... and got swollen like this too in the same way and the cut was so small and hidden it was not seen for several days...
They know they're saved!!!😊❤❤❤🙏🙏😅 Always enjoy your videos!!!
❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞🤞🐎🐎💯💯💯 hopefully those beautiful horse can recover.🤞🤞🤞🤞
Sch a sweet success. Love these big girls... I know will love and support all med issues will resolve...
Thank you
I like the vet narrative along with your voice over.
What a blessing for the girls
good you are doing well and the horses
I’d love to see their time with the farrier. It’s so cathartic to see their hooves cleaned up so they can walk more comfortably. 💕
I'm sure Fiona is carrying a load of pain---hard to be outgoing with a load of pain . I'm sure there's many good vibes in your horse trailer to ease the transport of the new rescues. ❤
My heart ❤felt thank you .Angels do walk among us.Such Beautiful Creatures ty ,ty ty again for saving these beautiful ladies. God Bless.❤
Glad to see the teeth worked on. Couldn't miss seeing the hooves in pretty poor shape. Best wishes.
This video warms my heart...thanks for saving these gorgeous horses 🙏🙏🙏 may God bless you always ❤
These girls are so beautiful and so sweet. They are absolutely gorgeous and adorable. They get all the love, care and affection from.you people. They will live a happy and peaceful lifeat your farm. Wish you all the best. Lots of love❤
Fundraising and supporting rescues like yours gives us an opportunity to help in the ways that we can. We don’t all have access to acreage or are older but still want to help. We like being angels too and you give us the chance to do that. W know, trust and support you. Many, many thanks.
❤ Hope all goes well. Poor Pearl. Kisses to them all. 😊
I really love this video. I want to watch that for hours and hours and listen to you explain every thing.❤
Please, you must put YOUR personal health first, so sending prayers & blessings 🙏🏻😍
Praying ❤❤❤❤
Great job as always Julie and good to see that you are doing well ☺️
Hoping all goes well for your rescued girls - from another Fiona 🏴🐎❤️
Simply incredible. Rescue horses are so grateful.
Hello, I am New to your channel. and the work you all do is Amazing. Thank you for sharing your rescue:s with us. The Girls Pearl and Fiona are Beautiful and they are in the Best of Hand's. You All are Angels 😇🐎😇🐴😇
Donated for the Vetbill - but I really want to see an Update with the Farrier.
The two mares a new at your Farm and I know very well that Horses can be difficult and dangerous with the Farrier.
Ava stays a few weeks with you and her Hoofs are terrible too.
❤️ Liane 🇩🇪
Prayers and loves for the ladies🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️, wish we could do more monthly. Being retired sucks 😂
Beautiful new horses thank you for saving them ❤️ they cooperated so well with their medical appointments
So happy that you saved them and they are getting the care they need. God bless you!❤🙏🏼🎉
Sorry that I can't donate this month, so I will let all commercials play through and maybe that helps a little bit. Thumbs up and a share!
Awesome job once again!
God Bless you for all the love and tlc you give these horses when they need it most after being tossed aside as worthless. It would be nice if the vets farrier could give them all a trim before coming home. Fionas right front esp needs attention but Im sure they all could use it.
Back in the day, they would take two solid silver spoons, cup one over the bad eye and tap it with the other spoon. Silver has many properties that were use for healing. You could try it to see if over time it will help her. Debbie
Beautiful, huge horses!
Glad you made it to Amarillo. Welcome! It’s a great place to live (don’t tell anyone). I enjoyed reading y’all’s story on your website. Again, welcome home.
You really have good hearts. I'm so glad you were there to save them. They are Beautful. Now they have wonderful Angels to take care of them. God Bless you All. Take care and be safe. Love your horses. I also have horses. I Love them All. I have three horses.❤🐴🐴
So glad to see. I know you'll take care of them.
Bless these people! Their hooves are also in terrible condition!
They are just sooooo big! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the caring and kindness you are giving these beautiful horses. ❤
Prayers 🙏🙏💕💕
Welcome Pearl & Fiona!!!❤❤❤
I would get an ophthalmologist consult at Texas A & M if that is possible for this girl. Or hopefully you have one locally that could take a look at her. Not doubting your vet, but this sounds like a very complicated case.
While I do agree, wouldn't that cost quite a bit or do they do it there for free or discounted for their teaching program there?
Can Pearl see out of that eye at all ? Really hoping she can be ok for a while so glad you saved them from slaughter !
Yes she is visual in the eye she still has.
I am listening to you BUT the dog & donkey interaction is WONDERFULL !!!!!
I so wish I could help. You guys are doing incredible work Julie.
I'm sure many, many of us wish we could help with these magnificent animals like you guys do.
May God bless and protect you all. ❤💪😊
Shew the flies are so terrible. Must be so irritating for them. Keep up the good work and thank you.😍😎😉
As an achey older lady myself, I can relate to Fiona. Sometimes it is difficult to be "social" and "nice" when parts of you hurting. I hope Fiona's leg can be healed and isn't too painful. So glad she is still with her friend Pearl!
I am glad that you do this update on CZcams, it´s the only social media I use and I usually skip shorts and reels. It is great that you managed to get them and it´s wonderful to see how good care the get now.
Great video. You are an Angel for.these beautiful horses. Prayers your health is improving.
👍 Amazing you Saved more Beautifully Shirehorse , WONDERFUL from UK😊

The eye tumors seem to be a thing with this breed. Can you comment on that?
I don’t know if it’s something to do with the breed but this is the 4th horse we have had that has had eye tumors.
The clever cowgirl has a vibration plate she uses for a variety of ailments but one of the best reasons is to get the lymphatic system functioning. It really helps to relieve the leg swelling and relaxation.
