As a Sabres fan I have to disagree with the statement that the jersey doesn't represent a time where the team was competitive or had notable players. For a lot of us it represents the era where the team was the *most* competitive in their history. The Cup Finals in 99 and the 05-06 season are what most Sabres fans think of immediately as far as the most successful teams, and the majority of players from that time hold a special place in Buffalo's hearts

This was a golden age for buffalo. They made a cup run in these, they had the greatest goalie of all time I hasek with 7 vezinas, we had the conference finals squad with the notorious NOW DO YOU BELIEVE goal. Great era
9/10. Almost perfect! I think this version might even be better than the original!
I love that they brought it back. I think the current home and away paired with this as a third is the perfect combo of Buffalo jerseys.
As someone from Buffalo, people associate that jersey with success probably more than any other jersey that we've had.
The jersey and the full kit looks amazing. These sold so quickly at the store. Last night for the first game with them and 90s night was the most packed I’ve seen the barn in a hot minute.
But for many fans, this is largely nostalgic look. So many iconic calls by RJ with this jersey. So many great players. It was a great time to be a fan when they wore this. Even when they weren’t in the playoffs, it wasn’t hopeless.

I love it! Love seeing teams branch out and take a chance with their brand. As a life long flyers fan, I wish they would rebrand and completely redo their brand.
Although I am from the UK and hockey is not a common sport there, it was in the 05-06 season that I followed the Oilers' Cinderella run to the Cup, and for some reason, the Buffalo Sabres somehow stood out as another favourite team. Maybe it was because they fell to the eventual Cup champions, the Hurricanes, in 7 games in the ECF. Nevertheless, I believe the Goathead stood out more, and that childhood memory of it. If they had kept the Goathead for the 06-07 season instead of the Slug, they could have broken the President's Trophy curse, won the Stanley Cup, and the Jack Adams award. It would have been the second one for Lindy Ruff.
2:02 I think for a lot of people some of our best times in history of the Buffalo Sabres came from this time. For Buffalo, its about moments in time. A play by play call, many players efforts in key moments. Not necessarily playoff success but they have some runs during that time as well. Plus Hasek and at the tail end Ryan Miller bookending. I'd watch highlights to see what I'm talking about.

Every time I see the goat head jersey, I'm always taken back to RJ's "Are you ready, Legion of Doom?!" call. Man, the late-90's were friggin' fantastic.
The "horn" on the top of the sleeves is the tip of the sword that comes up from the sides.
That logo looks SO good. This jersey reminds me of Hasek carrying the team like a backpack. Great work by the Sabres giving the world a double shot of goat head this year.

One thing I've noticed with the Sabres: not only do they bring back old logos and jerseys, but they improved them. Compare their original primary logo to their current primary logo, and you'll notice a lot of differences. Same thing here: they took the original goathead and made it so much cleaner while still making it just as - if not more - intimidating.
That's something I love.
96-01 when the Sabres had one of the greatest goalies of all time and got screwed out of the Stanley cup and the 05-06 season which was one of their best seasons they had. There's plenty of nostalgia in that era for the franchise I love.
They were easily winning the cup in 06 if they didn’t have all those injuries. I remember that season like it was yesterday. They were literally so damn dominant

As a Leafs fan, this Sabres uniform brings me back to a time where I hated The Sabres the most. With Satan, Peca, Grosek, Zhitnik, Wooley and of course, Hasek. Also let's not forget about the Domi vs Ray/ Barnaby vs Tucker feuds. Sabres were great back then

I just had this run through my head but when Ryan Miller first started in the league this is the uniform he wore and they are retiring his number 30 against the New York Islanders on January 19th I wonder if Ryan Miller’s retirement is another reason why the beautiful goat is back

I love it. I have a CCM & i love the logo on this adidas version being outlined in red, but the collar needs some color. I think they missed on their Reverse Retro, it should’ve been blue not white
If you get it stitched you should get an Owen Power one. As long as Buffalo doesn’t screw things up, he should be there for a long time

They made it furthest in the playoffs wearing the goat head, or am I mistaken? Gm7 Stanley Cup Finals against Dallas in 1999. Not sure why some say they always say they don't like these jerseys because of it

Respectfully, you would be incorrect about Sabres fans not looking back on this jersey as a time when the team was good. This is the jersey they wore when they went to the Stanley Cup Finals. Some VERY iconic Sabres wore this jersey including Hasek, Satan, Drury, etc.

Not a Sabres fan but grew up close to Buffalo and would often go to games in this era so this jersey has a special place in my heart. Will absolutely add this to my collection, next to my Peca goat head.
However, this threw a wrench in my jersey buying plan, I want it but I want 2 reverse retros this time and won’t make the mistake of not getting them.
What are your thoughts on this jersey being available long term? If I know I can get it at a later date I’ll put it on the back burner but definitely don’t want to miss out on it.
The Reverse Retro will be harder to get at a later date.

Awesome jersey, one of the best logos ever created. It's way better than the reverse retro in white, cause the reverse retro in white just swallows up the goat head logo, bad decision. They should have done the reverse retro with the goathead logo on their royal blue jersey ,now that would've been great also.The goathead jersey reminds me of the movie "The White Buffalo" from 1977, starring Charles Bronson, Clint Walker, Jack Warden, Slim Pickenns, Kim Novak and Will Sampson. If you want to see the goathead or the Buffalo in action, watch that movie, and then you will know where they came up with the goathead logo , it compliments the jersey perfectly.
God I wished the Sabres would just go back to this logo and jerseys as their primary. I’ve been wishing for 15 years now. This was the team I loved in the 90’s! I absolutely hate the Sabres other jerseys and horrible logos. So much I stopped watching them. This third jersey instantly made me fall in love with them all over again. Miroslav Satan, Dominik Hasek, Maximum Afinogenov, Alexei Zhitnik, Stu Barnes, Rob Ray, etc etc. This was the Buffalo Sabres I love and miss. Glad to see they brought a piece of 90’s amazing memories back! Now let’s make this logo permanent again!

I like the Goat head jersey.
But I still prefer the look they recently went back to because it looks clean. I also have nostalgia from collecting hockey cards in the early to mid 90s and getting all of my cards out to rearrange them by team. I was rearranging them in a different order every couple of days.
I'm always nostalgia to the looks the teams had during that decade.
You mentioned this jersey is printing money basically and it is. The only place go get it same day is the team store. I got there about 11:15am and the store opened at 10am and had a difficult time finding one in my size and at the end of the day they said the shelves we basically bare except for a few fanatics jersey left over.

99 finals 98 conference finals, 2006 conference finals. Plenty of playoffs in that jersey. Hasek winning all those awards. Come on bro lol still love ya tho

Incredible logo, might be the best reason for a prime green version. Brings me back to the Satan and Hasek era of the Sabres. I remember when I was a kid and they got rid of the goathead I loved the decision because it was something new, same as the Anaheim jerseys that no-one except me liked. But as time went by I found myself missing the goathead more and more.

As a sabres fan that grew up in the ‘90s and ‘00s this is the logo they had when my grandfather got me into hockey, love it to death and wish they never went back to the blue and yellow and that trash buffaslug

Damn. That jersey and color design is so much better than the blue and marigold. I like that logo too. I think the primary logo is too busy and has too many small details that just don't show well from far away and when I do see it it looks like its calling me stupid just in the way it has two images stacked on each other that represent the actual two words lol. Idkk if I'm explaining that well but I feel like it's trying to spell out to idiots that they're the buffalo sabres instead of just picking a cool simple logo. The buffasluggoathead looks fucking great on the black red and silver.

NO!!!! The Sabres had one of the best jerseys in the NHL, then in the 90s they changed the entire color scheme to black and red for absolutely no reason. The years have been a slow and painful process to bring it back.. First, they brought back the color scheme but with the hideous Buffalo slug. Then they eventually brought back the logo, but then added grey and "modern" design which no one asked for! Now that they have rid of the grey "pit stains" and numbers on the front, they just need to add the shoulder patch, call it day and stop messing with the jersey!!!
Yeah I'm sick and tired of hearing some people wanting to go to the goat-head fulltime. Keep it royal blue with the original logo and let the blacks and reds just be alternates.

Not a fan of the goathead. Ottawa and Chicago already have black, red, and white primary colors.
So what. Several other teams already wear blue. So no matter what color is used, it's impossible to wear a color some other team doesn't already use.
