In this video I want to give you an update of how life in Russia has changed under sanctions 4 months later. I will tell you about the current economic situation in Russia and also will show you the prices for food, gas, and other stuff.

I have always thought that the regular Russian worker is not that different than here in the USA. Most of us would just like to have a life with family without drama. The leaders have their agenda which is not necessarily what the average citizen wants. Wishing you well.

I feel so sorry for the Russian people even with the food price rises the UK food prices are cheaper and UK obviously has much bigger salaries I hope and pray for the war to end quickly so russian people can get back to normal lives

From all of the various videos I've seen coming out of Russia, it looks like things are just fine. I know that gas prices went up for awhile, but it appears they are back down again

My brother has done work in Russia a few times. He works all over the globe and has a good grasp on what the people are like around the world. People around the world are quite alike, it's the governments that are the issue, not the people.

Agree to all that you said, EXCEPT her knowledge of baby formula/food. But that will come in time I imagine, it was just amusing to watch her compare baby formula to baby porridge.
The prices aren't that different than what we're facing here (USA) and yea off brand salt is extremely cheap like half a dollar up to a dollar for a name brand. Our meats are extremely pricey and often out of stock since the pandemic actually but now its "because Russia" (no one believes that though). I hope a day comes soon when our governments just let us live our lives. Be safe everyone ❤🤍💙

And our stupid politicians here are destroying the American economy. It got worse ever since Biden became President. We have been printing money which causes everything here to go up. And now with Ukraine war we are just giving Ukraine insane amounts of money all while Americans are suffering and have no money.

But Moscow is not typical of the rest of Russia. The vast majority of Russia does not have any slick city shops. All Russians I know want to leave Russia - or have left already. they are programmers, architects, designers, engineers, dentist and doctor. Oh, and a musician!

Bottom line - businesses are only interested in money. When the money in russia runs out they will not hang around.
They're not returning owned by Western countries, but rather owned by countries such as China. The implication that everything is back to normal is not really accurate, as Russia will continue to be boycotted by most of the countries that produce products of higher quality. Just because a store opens with a new name, it doesn't mean things are the same.
@@erniebuchinski3614 For brands like McDonalds as example, all the resources are not imported of other countries, but from Russia itself. Once the company left, they rebranded it to another name, but the products were still exactly the same. No change in the quality, just the brandname.

This "situation" was the last the world needed after recovering financially from covid lockdowns.
The COvID lockdowns? I live in Texas...we were locked down until June of 2020 and have been open ever since. It's scared other states that crashed their own economies.

No, the situation was going on for 8 years, the Ukrainian army shelled and sniped at civilians in Donbass, killing 14 600 of them.
The Ukrainian artillery ramped the fire up, days before feb.24. Scott Ritter provided evidence of a plan to attack and repossession of DPR and LPR territory.
The west did never recovered... The so called "leaders of the free world" dont know how to do it in fairness.

True Ukraine mined the area by Odessa but the storms broke the mooring of the mines.
Turkey is now cleaning those.
The loss of the mines means Ukraine had to place more, and they have shortages. Ukraine needs to mine to slow the landing craft packed with murderous soldiers told they can pillage and rape all they want. Fortunately they got a few Harpoon so this has pushed back the enemy. Russia’s intent is now to exterminate and repopulate with Russians.
honestly meat prices, even with tv dinners are outrageous here in ky and it's about $5 a gallon here too for gas and almost $5 for a gallon of milk. rich get richer and only make the poorer struggle.
Over $2.20 a litre for gas in Australia and milk is more

UK its over 2 USD per LITRE. About 10 USD per gallon.
The olive oil price is just about the same in Florida at upper range stores.

A great video. In Sweden inflation that was almost nothing for the last 20 years this spring jumped and is about 7.5%. Gaz and Diesel prices has doubled the last 6 months.

I feel very strongly that Sanctions against a nation for a situation like this is a dirty move. They should not punish citizens because one government disagrees with another government. Sanctions should become an extinct way of handling disagreements. Thank you for sharing this.

If we were responsible for all the government does than I would never vote for anyone as I feel if I'm responsible for other peoples actions I should just be in charge. Military issues should be handled by the military and leave the rest of the population alone. If every citizen is responsible for their governments actions than why are civilians not supposed to be killed in wars? If every citizen is held accountable for the actions of it's government that why not completely exterminate a nation because of a war they conducted we did not agree with? I'm painting a picture that your view can only go so far before it's clear there needs to be a difference between the common population and the people who actually made these bad decisions. Putin decided to launch a war in Ukraine in which innocent people have died, does that mean de facto every Russian citizen is guilty of murder? @@bradcasper4823 Look, surface statement not getting any deeper than this, obviously we all feel bad for what is happening in Ukraine, but I do not believe a Russian citizen who does not believe in the war should be punished for what is happening. I think nations should find a way to target the higher ups in the government who approved of the war and spare the citizens who were innocent in it. Our approach is to "shotgun" the whole nation and it should be to "rifle" the very top is all I am saying.

If you have a a Dacha plant much extra Food. Food and Energy Inflation is running over 15% here in the US since January. 15% is the definition of Hyperinflation and we are still 6 Months to Winter. Winter will be hard for many. Carrots, Potatoes, Onion, Tomatoes are easy to grow. Why prices are so high in the US, I don't know. There is drought in California and Southwest US but the Midwest where I live is excellent. I live in St. Paul, a large City. I have planted much food and will do much Fishing, Hunting and Food Preservation. I shall give much Food away for free this Winter. We do not have to be helpless as our Systems Collapse.

Overall, compared to my country (Bulgaria) the prices look about double, with few exceptions - your salt is about 1/3 cheaper, and bread is about 2-3 times cheaper in Russia, not sure why but bread here has become very expensive in the last months. My country is a grain producer and exporter, also the government removed VAT completely for bread, so it kind of doesn't make much sense. Bread here (the cheapest) is about 0.70$ or 38 RUB for 650 grams (the kind you said you don't eat).
its not complicated, bread is made with grain. Russia is one of the worlds largest grain exporters. and Ukraine another major world supplier of grain.

Judging by your videos and those of others in Russia, it seems to me that the shortages and rising food prices there are about the same as those in the rest of the world. I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but there is a significant shortfall in food and fuel production affecting the entire planet this year. While the 'situation' between Ukraine and Russia is certainly contributing to that in a big way, it's far from the only cause. Climate problems, shipping issues, the situation in China... and much more are all playing a part in this growing disaster. It's all a giant, complex mess that doesn't seem ready to get sorted any time soon. We are all dealing with rising prices and shortages. It isn't only Russia. Unfortunately, things are very likely to get much worse before they improve.
You said it mate! I’m in Australia and things are tough already ESPECIALLY for lower income earners. Industries can’t afford running costs , builders are going bankrupt as they can’t source enough material to complete or even start constructions. Media has definitely turned all that towards Russia but I found these issues were faltering already from Covid lockdowns
All wrong. It is NOT 'the situation in Ukraine or China' that has influence, but the intervention of completely outsiders. No sanctions - no problems. Russia has never abandoned its trade, food or financial obligations and is the most reliable partner. The severance of relations with such a partner unilaterally led to crises.
We do not have a food crisis, I speak as a resident of the Urals, after a while the shops were filled with our Russian products, and they are not bad, the price-quality ratio is very good, the store shelves are full, and many Russian citizens have their own cottages, where they have their own vegetable gardens, I personally live in a private house, the prices for some products have grown, but now they are already falling, and some products are still expensive, but this is because of suppliers who bought too expensive.
In fact, we are now living exactly the same as before February 22, only prices have increased slightly, by about 10-15%, although prices are still somewhere 50-60% higher than before
@@av1ra285 It's pretty much the same here as well. Food prices have increased dramatically across the entire country and there are occasionally items we have trouble finding.
I'm not worried about those of us who can afford the price increases, I worry about those who were barely managing befor food prices nearly doubled.
The people who are in serious danger are the poor in developing countries that have to import most of their food and don't have the money to compete for the increasingly limited supply. They could be looking at devastating famin in the near future. The rest of us are simply going to need to make a few difficult lifestyle choices. We aren't going to die of starvation.
@@flashpointatom What a crock. Russia blockades the ports of one of the largest grain suppliers in the world. Russia burns thousands of hectacres of agricultural fields. Russia steals thousands of tons of grain, conducts a scorched earth war on a sovereign nation and basically carries on like the terrorist state they are. Then, they steal $20bn worth of foreign investment in the Sakhlin LNG facility, hundreds of millions worth of airliners and uncounted other foreign assets while insisting on receiving payment for oil and gas in artificially inflated rubles instead of the dollars that were originally contracted for.
But let's forget all that. It's the sanctions that caused all the problems. And all the multi-national corporations that will refuse to invest in Russia for generations to come are just being unfair.

After having seen some of the prices of food in Russia, I may said that the price of food here in the Dominican republic is way more expensive than it is in Russia. The price of a pound of salt.. Caray is 80 peso, from it previous price, which was 60 peso a month ago. One Dólar equal 55 pesos for one Dólar. Awesome video. Keep us informed.

@@NebeskiJerusalim the average salary in Russia by now is € 1139,45. A friend making € 900 is living below average and have to consider his choices of job. Again, it's average for Russia, meaning in Moscow it's even bigger - € 2072 in fact.
I've been in Dominican Republic like 6 years ago, the prices were like 2 fold more expensive than in Russia while the countryside was looking more rundown. Especially Haitian parts. Don't know why, you guys are living in a tropical paradise with the summer year-round and have to spend less money on infrastructure upkeep and do basically nothing to grow food, yet you fairing worse than a country which basicaly have to do complete restoration every spring. And the cigarettes... your entire country is up into tobacco business, cigares are like national ideas, yet all tobacco was 5 fold more expensive than in Russia. WTF? Also, what whas very noticeable, you have a lot more class segregation than in Russia: there's dedicated districts for the poor, rich and so on, the impression is challenging dramatically once you cross the wrong street. In Russia it's kinda mixed up and less obvious. And then of course annoying US students using your country for drunk and drug weekends. Also what was unsettling, you need just 8 hours to reach the other end of a country by car. More, you just need 2 hours when you cross it the other way! Feels claustrophobic.

Thank you for making this video. As an American I have been curious as to how the Russian people have been affected by sanctions imposed by western countries. I must say that from your video things seem to be not so bad (by standards I see in Boston, US). I was recently in grocery store and saw high end cuts of sirloin going for $57 a pound. With the war, covid and supply chain issues, Americans are paying a lot for everything. Currently it costs me $150 to fill up my Ford F250 pickup from E to F ($5 a gallon for regular gas). I hope things get better for you and all people across the globe when it comes to living well and affording the basics. I think Russia is a beautiful place with a beautiful culture. they are self sufficient thats why. western economy is based on export/import. if it stops prices raises. it cant happend if you are self sufficient due to earlier sanctions. all this war did is to make russia richer, and western poorer, they knew this. very effective

In Chile for example 1 Kg of sugar costs 1,200 chilean pesos, which is $US 1.4, and 1 Kg of bread costs approximately 1.4 dollars. On the other hand 93 octane gasoline costs 1,200 pesos, 1.4 dollars per liter, Kerosene for heating costs 1 dollar per liter. As you can see they are very similar realities. I do not like talk about politics so I will try to avoid that issue, just wishing peace and prosperity for all countries. I understand the concern about scarcity and rising prices, but from what I saw in your video is not worst than Europe, Latin American countries or even the US.
Salt is not particularly expensive here in the USA but not super cheap either.

Obviously Russian made products, including fuel, does not increase at all or very little. All imports are up.
On the interesting side, the prices of food where I live, in California are very comparable. Some are a bit more here, some are cheaper. With the difference the average annual salary in California is $70k, in Russia it’s about $10k.

98% of grocery prices are pretty much similar like in Serbia. And we are not under sanctions (so far). :)
This is nothing. This is regular. Everything is in control. In Serbia under UN sanctions (leading by US and western countries) in early 90es stores were totally empty. No gas, no bread, no meat, no milk, no eggs, no medications in hospitals, many people died because they had no medications for like high blood preasure, diabetes, heart diseas etc. anesthetics only for kids and pregnant women (I had few minor surgery interventions with no anesthetics), shortage of electricity, shortage of fuel, inflation like 1000% daily. And we survived. Most of things we smuggled from neighbour countries like Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary...
Oh yeah, too bad it s not worse for them, the conditions you had in Serbia are very much right for Russia now. Pretty much what would need to happen for the leaders to be stopped and the genocide to stop.

I live in Dallas Texas, Today I had to renew my electricity contract, I will now be paying 17.2 cents Per kilowatt hour, when my expiring contract was at 12.4 cents per kilowatt hour. That’s an increase of almost 37 percent. Gas prices in June 2021 averaged around $2.90 per gallon, now they are around $4.70 a gallon, that’s 62 percent increase. The sanctions boomerang is real.

Thanks for this vlog. Its useful to know how prices are changing in Russia and from what i see they are not going up much and gasoline/diesel seems to be holding steady. Of course prices are one side of the story: the other side is disposable income and rate of unemployment in Russia.
And yes. in my experience, salt is inexpensive everywhere. Its only the "special natural salts" that include desirable other minerals that can be pricey.

Just tried to compare the prices in RUB with help from your video 'Life in RUSSIA 2 months AFTER SANCTIONS'. I found out that the prices from tomatoes for instance didn't rise. Quite the opposite. Two month ago the tomatoes cost 170RUB and now it is only 110RUB. Cucumbers two mont ago 130RUB and now only 90RUB. Buckwheat, Carrots has also become cheaper So where do you see that the live in Russia is now much more expensive than before?
In addition to that, she hasn't mentioned the fact that the prices usually go up and down depending on the season every year, plus we should take into account inflation, moreover, in other chains of supermarkets the prices of different kinds of food vary, some kinds are cheaper, the oher ones are higher, which is normally ok. I've noticed only a raise in the prices for clothes and electronics so far.

Very interesting video. Things are not nearly as bad as I expected, actually they really don't look bad to me. We were in St. Petersburg in 2019 and really enjoyed. We were kind of in a bubble as we booked a 2-day package with Alla Tours and pretty much had to stay with our tour group.
Just keep in mind she lives in a generally wealthier part of Russia, It is all worse than it appears.

Tbh prices have gone up in whole of Europe. Here in Germany almost everything is more expensive: not only gas or oil, but meat, chicken, flour, eggs, onions, vegetables, fruits, everything...

in south Africa, in a mall of 200 stores, you would find that just about five stores are foreign stores and the rest are south African. that is because we pride ourselves in buying our own goods coz that boosts our economy, creates jobs and makes us self-sufficient as a country. China is the most self-sufficient country in the world because they prefer their own brands instead of foreign goods. they have their own MacDonald's, kfc, google, twitter, watsapp, etc. in this day and age, countries should learn to be self-sustainable and self-reliant.

Building your home starts with patriotism, you cannot build anything of your own if you do not begin by loving and being proud of your country. You cannot be proud of another's country, that is of no benefit to one.

Over here in Canada, Québec, normal salt (not the fancy sea salt which is a lot more expensive) for 1kg it's 2.19 Canadian dollar which is 1.68 USD.
Our supermarkets in Belgium only allow 2 bottles of oil per customer at the moment, few weeks ago it was even hard to find anything other than a shit ton of olive oil.

I live in United Kingdom Salt used to be about £25p to £50p but gone up by quite a bit over the last year, pack of beef burgers was £2.00 pounds now gone up to £4.25 to £8.00 food prices are going through the roof in the UK, I noticed in your CZcams video all your cheese's and milk's are not refrigerated they must be all long life milk and cheese's which seems weird to me in the UK, all of are cheese would be refrigerated cannot be kept out of the fridge, the milk in UK would all be refrigerated apart from long life milk which you can keep for ages if not opened but once opened you have to keep it in the fridge. I’m from Hungary, salt was always cheap here too, the cheapest I could find is 0,63$/kg. Cheese and oil got super expensive the last 2-3 months, the same piece of cheese was 2,2$ before and now was 3,54$. Only a little piece. I saw the old and the new labels on it. Sunflower oil, if you are lucky and still have some stock of the cheapest is around 1,58/litre, but it’s more likely around 2$/per litre. But we have around 22% inflation on food products nowadays. It’s interesting because the of the first 1-3 months of the war the prices were the same, till around April-May then the prices gone up crazy. Also the USD and EUR are crazy they have 1,51% increase and decrease within hours, in December 1$ was 327HUF now it’s 380HUF. Euro was 367HUF, now we reached 400HUF for 1€.
Our country is called Hungary, not Hungry. Everything else is correct.

Same in Sweden, prices are up in general. Inflation here is at about 12% so not as bad but given salary increases of about 2% it will get worse quickly. Some staple foods are up 50% already since February. Gasoline is at 25kr (was 27 last week) which is about €2,50/liter. Energy prices are also soaring despite it being the middle of the summer. It's just haywire

I live in Vancouver Canada and our food costs are more than 5x higher than Russia. We are seeing high inflation now but even prior to higher inflation, our food costs were much higher.
Cost of living in Russia is generally lower, than in the West, but salaries lower too. So, in general we live at ±same level as western people. Something will be cheaper in comparsion, something will have higher price, some regions is good and some is total shithole

Yeah salt is also pretty cheap here in the Netherlands, although I don’t think we can buy it in large quantities like that unless it’s not for consumption. A bit of salt is around €0,80, and I reckon most of that price is simply the dispenser it comes in.
All in all prices there don’t seem to differ too much. I was most surprised about the price of chicken. That much for $6,00 is cheap! Here for €6,00(not the same obviously but not far off) I can get maybe two pieces of fillet at best.

Just to let you know the cost of petrol in the uk is £161.00 per litre and diesel is £178.00 per litre. 04/10/2022 and the cost of my week food shop has gone up by over 30% since sanctions against Russia have been put in place
