Custom Painted - Power Wheels Cadillac

- A behind the scenes look at how to create a simple custom paint job on this power-wheels Cadillac. We've prepared the plastic thoroughly for painting and applied a white with a red splatter into it. Then topped it off with a unique pearl for an eye-popping finish out in the sun. This paint job took 4 hrs from start to finish.

What type of cleaner did you use at the beginning

I used to own a Pontiac Fiero. I believe the painting process for it is the same as this- decals and all. They are about the same size too!

You can use any system in the following order -> Scuffing Paste ->Plastic Cleaner ->Plastic Primer -> Paint. The part numbers depend on the system your using and VOC regulations.

I just got one of these caddys from the garbage,it's burgundy...i went to Walmart and got a can of spray paint,did the hood and was shocked by how uuuugly it looked,now I'm here!

How do you keep the floor so clean?
Jimmo, I'm looking into painting my dual sports plastics and I've seen guys use a torch to bring the release agents out of the plastics then wipe it down with 90+% alcohol. The amount of abuse that these plastics will take, make me a tad nervous (flexing etc). Have you any thoughts on motocross plastics?
That's pretty awesome and I'm sure your son enjoyed the hell out of it. Ignore the idiots talking smack. They probably never even rattle canned a lawn chair let alone a car.

Surprised though that you mentioned going Cromax. Coming from Diamont I would think you would have gone Onyx HD, which is an excellent waterborne system. Not knocking Axalta either, as I think Cromax is also good. What Limco clear did you use btw? LC4000 or 4100? Either way, economy yes, but they are both pretty good clears. I have more big shops spraying it, compared to the DC5100, 5120, etc.
Anyway nice work though! I dig the two tone how you did it.
Sam Frankelli I can't remember the specifics of this video, I do spray Onyx now which is a great waterborne/solvent hybrid system. I spray limco LC42000 usually as an economy clear, I think it was LC4100 if this was done in the high-voc days.

+Refinish Network I miss a clear made by ppg called dau 82 man that stuff was awesome but they stopped making it when the water born paint started off. have some on a truck that's been painted for ten years and it's still shines.

Next time you want that splatter look (I dont know why you would in the 1st place but...) use a new spray bottle. Ive done it when I wanted a rust painted surface and it worked great

love the white pearl coat. Not a fan of the rusty fade. Still it's better than stock.
i was expecting you to make an old pearl red with metal flake in it but don't get me wrong its still a badass paint job though good job
I just found a pink barbie powerwheels. I want to paint it green its really dirty. I'm not looking yo win any awards wiyh my paint job. Can I use brillo pads to clean it and scuff it at the same time then use soap and water?

I hate to say it, (because I believe you're a professional painter) but it looks like crap! Come on now, that is what you really wanted it to look like?
For R/c Truck body's There is a special paint you buy for plastic So Usual car paint may react different than plastic paint.
I know that I'm talking about the color and design.
Well Like he said in the video he didn't use high quality paint and to me I thought it looked decent I know his kid loved it.
As long as the kid likes it, that's all that matters!

Nice prep work but the paint leaves a lot to be desired..I thought you were going for gradual fade but it turned out pretty splotchy.

I've spray painted a barbie trike before. I am considering getting rid of it, unless you want it. It was a horrid job, and you could try and "challenge" yourself to fix it.
Use sandpaper to get the paint off and repaint
