This is my absolute favorite affordable whiskey you can get a lot of other good ones but always grab for this
Picked the 7 Year Black up for $19 at the Kroger in the big city near you guys. Was initially super impressed. I still find it a little more complex than you guys seem to, and the boost to 45% ABV over the old JB Blacks is a distinct improvement. However, the more I drink it, the less I'm drawn to it. I'm forced to compare it to JB Single Barrel (54% ABV). I just bought that for the first time last month and finished it faster than any other bottle in a long time. Also $19 at Kroger. Maybe I should blend them.... Good review guys.
FWIW, (after just making one) I will admit that the 7 yr is excellent with soda water. Brings out a lot of sweetness that wasn't obvious to me neat. +1 on the mixer recommendation.
