    A nut driver would be better than a standard socket wrench set. You can get a heck of a lot more torque with even a small 1/4 ratchet than you'll get with a nut driver.

    Just gave it a try the first time just a few days ago. From watching your video I was able to make my bagpipe bag airtight and successful since I’m new to bagpipes. Thanks a lot for the video.

    Great info Matt! Might even give it a go myself next time I need to tie in a new bag. Would love to see/hear a full set of Dave Barenett’s, if you could get a set on loan.

    Thank you Matt. I will give it a try on my old Hardie Pipes.

    Cool advise on the blowpipe spacing jig

  • @juliareadscottishpiperandh4861

    thanks that was really helpful Matt. I'd love to also see a video on how to do an emergency patch job on a bag that fails during a gig.

    • @MattWillisBagpiper
      @MattWillisBagpiper  Před 2 lety +1

      The few patches I've tried failed almost instantly, so if I need "security" at a gig, I'll bring a second set (which I have done a few times now).

      @@MattWillisBagpiper thanks Matt that makes sense. I got a spare bag recently as a security but tbh, can't imagine tying that in as an emergency. As you say a second set is probably a better bet. Thanks

    Do you find the synthetic bags are harder to strike in well for newer players? That’s been my experience as a player of 2 years who just moved up to a hybrid from a synthetic only. Great stuff! Thanks.

      Synthetic bags can be a bit trickier to strike in for certain. I'm not opposed to the use of valves in any bagpipe, but depending on the drone reeds, sometimes valves are the only way to reliably strike in, at least in a pipe band setting.

      I play a hybrid bag myself for that very reason

    Nice video! Are you a fan of the canmore hybrid pipe bag, I just bought one.

      It's a fine bag, though I personally prefer hide bags. I do have a backup set of pipes tied into a Canmore hybrid.. Good bag for a set that doesn't get much playing.

      Glad the videos were helpful! No video yet on drone tuning. But I do hope to get one out soon! Let me see if I can find a good video on drone tuning... cheers!

      I'm gonna rehemp the joints (yellow or polyester,not sure yet)measure my high A ,then half that for tenors and half again for bass (I now picture 100 pipers trying to match tones, wow)

    Could you do a video where you fix a Blair electronic chanter to a full set of pipes?

    • @MattWillisBagpiper
      @MattWillisBagpiper  Před 4 lety +1

      First, I'd have to own a Blair chanter! I really want one, but they're rather pricy...

    Does a bannatyne bag need any seasoning?
