Jay you don't have to feel bad about not watching sports (of any gender), if its not someone's thing, its just not their thing. What Bill's upset about is people who don't watch sports but still complain about the pay difference and go after men for not watching either. I agree with you 100% that its a shame more women don't watch the WNBA, but acknowledging its a shame and blaming blaming others are two very different things. You do You! And watch whatever you want and don't let others shame you for it! Love your reactions as always.

JayShara, the point is that people would pay for watching sports on the highest level of performance. Say for instance, 100m sprint: people do not watch "black sprinters", they watch "fast sprinters" who happen to be mostly black men. Likewise, people do not watch "male basketball players" but "the best basketball players" who are invariably male. You might have read reports of women national sports teams having friendly matches with schoolboy teams out in some small country towns and got steamrolled, the best known cases happened in the US and Australia. We do not want to watch - let alone pay money to watch - provincial schoolboy games, and if the performance level is lower than that, it's just not going to work.

I’m the same way. I really don’t like sports like that. I have absolutely no interest to watch on my own. I like watching if it’s something like a finals or championship game and someone puts in on. Or if someone gets tickets and wants someone to go with them, I’d be willing to go cause I think it’s far more engaging in person that through a screen, so I just naturally more excited by the game when I’m there. but on my own, I don’t watch sports. And you’re right, it makes me feel bad and like I want to support them, cause it really is sad that no one follows them. But more than views they we’d better ticket sales to drive their income. It feels terrible to say it’s not my problem cause I’m not a sports fan. But at the same time, tickets are expensive regardless of it being nba or wnba. I just really can’t justify spending that much money on a ticket when I don’t even like the game or know what’s happening.

    • @JayShara

Yes, I agree. Attending a live game is more exciting and engaging than watching it at home. I also don’t want to spend my money on something I’m not too interested in either. @@JayShara Because we're men. And our hands are full and our wallets are empty supporting men's competition. Purchasing tickets or pay-per-view, buying jerseys, drinking cheep beer, gambling, and then playing video games that simulate the sport. We don't typically go to Adele or Ariana Grande concerts of our own volition for the same reason. Men are stupid with their money. Women, on the other hand, are silly. They spend their money on cosmetics and fashion and expensive cocktails and emotional therapy. Men compete for the camaraderie, women compete for the attention. We're just different animals.

@@JayShara The fact is that each of us spend our own money the way we want. Either that money is "wasted" on man or woman things or anything else. That shouldn't be a question at all.
I think that most people would agree that asking why don't men support more women-led sporting events is kind of a sexist question. Nonetheless that type of question does have some relevance, but it is one for the marketing people of those events (or people who are preoccupied with them) as i think was your context when asking it.
In the same way, as Bill mentioned, one can ask to the same people, why the Kardashian are drowning in money?
But to me the thing that i don't understand is one person basically going on TV asking for millions of dollars for free just because she is a woman. That is simply ridiculous.
Here is a similar question. Why doesn't a particular waiter in a restaurant doesn't win the lottery? My empathy makes me saddened by that horrible situation.

Vegas has the Aces, LA has the Sparks, Indiana has the Fever. The fact you lived there and didn't know proves the point. Also, the fact that people only know Brittney Griner because she got arrested is pretty sad.

Another great Bill Burr reaction. The sad thing is, even though women don't even support what they supposedly represent, men do... either through watching it themselves or the NBA covering the WNBA's losses (which is in the tens of millions of dollars, which they shouldn't have to). The NBA should not be THAT kind of charity case. That money could've went to people in actual need or you know... to the NBA themselves that worked hard to make that money. And women still have the nerve to complain about their pay. This is why I have zero sympathy for women when it comes to this kind of thing.

      It's not, though.
The WNBA runs at a loss. It's subsidised by the NBA.
The sport makes no money. Therefore, the athletes should be paying for the privilege to compete, like olympic athletes do.
Get your own sponsors, pay the league, make sure it runs at a profit so it doesn't get shut down like any other bad business.

It’s interesting the light he paints the sports industry in. At the end of the day it’s entertainment. Lebron being paid millions isn’t because he’s so good at basketball, he’s paid that because people want to watch someone that good at basketball play. Interesting perspective
