I employ two methods to determine the most effective one: the 'Long Method' for one plant and direct placement in leca for the other. Watch the entire video to discover the superior method. Finally, I combine both plants in leca using a self-watering Lechuza pot, creating a magnificent master Bird of Paradise plant.

So, where i grew up in the mountains of CA BOP were natural slow growers bc they held their leaves for years and when it flowered those lasted upward of 3 months. I think you putting all of them together will end up making them happy as they grow in tight bunches, which should help with them not falling over.
And finally i think the solution helped force a leaf but again bops grow slow.
They do grow in bunches, I did not even think about that! Thank you for sharing.
It’s a year later-any updates?!?! Flowers?
I love how you give the follow up in one video. It’s hard for you, but instant gratification for your subscribers. Thanks for sharing Nora!
Thank you! Yes, it is a bit more difficult. It takes some planning and I sometimes get impatient, but I think my showing you the results at that moment gives it a kind of authenticity.
Thank you. I listen to all your Q&A sessions but would never have found it without your help.
You are welcome 😊
Hello Queen! Ive been afk due to seasonal gloom. So im on one of many videos ive missed , and about ti binge for vicarious spring vibes. ❤
I hope you are feeling better!!! And I hope the videos bring you much joy!
Thank you so much! Definitely gonna do that with my bird!
Good luck!
Wow! The roots! You have to get excited about them!!! AMAZING. Thanks for sharing this video with us, I would never have thought about using those plants as a potted specimen. I’ve only ever seen them in the garden. Great idea, thanks again.
You are very welcome. Bird of Paradise plants make an awesome indoor feature plant.
Hello. Agree with a comment below regarding the instant update, as we are always curious how the plants and their roots are going. By the looks of it the need to soak the roots for a couple of weeks doesn't seem necessary but I do love the watch those water roots appear. 🌸
I know what you mean about watching the water roots, it is just awesome. Did you see my suggestion about Garden World?

Love this ❤ Love that Monstera in the background as well 🥰 is Leca more Expensive than Potting Soil?
Thank you. As for expense, see this video:

Great idea with making more holes in the pot!! I was excited to get a lovely, Lechuza pot-and months later wanted to flush all my plants--I can’t flush this large monstera or gaze upon her roots 😩😱. She is doing well,,,,so will wait to repot/make holes. LOVE your work!!
Awesome!!
Thank you! Cheers!
This is extremely helpful! Thanks so much for making this video!
Glad it was helpful!
You make caring and growing plants such a beautiful experience. Now I want a few.
Thank you for all you do. 😅
Thank you for your lovely words. Caring for plants is truly a beautiful experience and I am glad how I feel about it translates through in the videos.
I bought my first bird of Paradise baby today from Bunnings Bathurst and I’ve done a lot of plants in this substrate, but I did not want this baby to croak!!!
Double potted so one will live outside 😊. So searched your channel
Good luck!
How’s your bird of paradise doing since your 4 months update? Thanks Nora!
Oooh I like that! I've been debating on whether I should my 3 into one pot or not. They're very little right now in 10cm pots and about 30cm from the bottom of the pot to the tallest leaf. I really like how bushy yours appear now and obviously how much less space for pots! 😍
Exactly Marisa, kill a few birds with one stone 🤣🤣🤣 ( I should stop! My kids tell me I am not funny) But yes you create room for more plants and your BoP looks impressive! Imagine how awesome that will be in a few years!
Молодец!)
Very cool! Do you have any problems with algae with the clear pots?
Just got a White Bird of Paradise plant along with a Fiddle Leaf Fig plants for indoors. I have purchased full spectrum grow lights for both of them. I would like to know if your leca method would work for the Fiddle Leaf Fig? I could not find a link anywhere as what the special sauce is or where I can get it? Thank you as your video is very informative.
Mine did so well in spring but then summer hit it was too much . I want to switch it to leca but don’t want to kill it lol but o need to do something. It’s been one of my toughest and most beloved plants.
Question. How do you repot a plant in leca when the root system has gone crazy growing into the cache pot? I always damage my root system because the roots get knotted together. I don’t want to cut them out of the pots because then I lose a pot…
How much watering do I need to water this plant ?? Please I am really struggling ever since I change it from soil to leca . Please help
💚
Hi Queen❤ I put mine soil to leca. Thanks to you 😘 after 2 months root is coming out side under the pot. Do I have to change it immediately to big size pot?
Hard to say without seeing the plant. I recommend putting a picture up in the semihydroponics with the leva queen face book group. In the mean time this video might help: czcams.com/video/GE2hmeopJjs/video.html
You should do more experiments please 🎉
You know I will. It keeps the hobby interesting for me. Have you seen some of my latest ones? Check out the no roots Alocasia one. czcams.com/video/RkNUYmBejTU/video.html
Another great learning video thank you. I have a question. Have you ever gone from LECA back to soil? Does it work? I have friends who would like a plant but don't want the routine of LECA.
Thank you! For now, never going back. You can move a plant from soil to leca, check out this Q &A I did discussing that. czcams.com/video/vrSxfMlz5pc/video.html
Lecca Queen!
How do you make the special sauce?
Hey, It is a mixture of Clonex Clone Solution and Root Zone. Root Zone will be available very soon, but you can use anything that is a root conditioner or mychorrhyzia or something like that.
Thank you so much..I love your tips and I am so in love with your plants🥰
I would do this except mine is huge. A $40 wouldn’t even be big enough for the pot, plus it seems quite happy how it is.
I find it helps to move plants to leca when they are still on the smaller side. I was really happy with how these turned out, one of my best successes I would say.
how big is too big to convert from soil to leca? My bird of paradise is 9 feet tall. I've had it in soil since I got it at a foot tall 5 years ago.
I think there is no such thing, it is just how much are you willing to try and risk!
YOUR METHOD IS GREAT FOR ANOTHER PLANT B.O.P NEEDS WATERS THE LECA DRIES OUT YOO MUCH. THE ROOTS IN THE WATER LOOKS LIKE SOME ARE BLK NOT GOOD. IF THAT IS WHAT I AM SEEING. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR PLANTS YOU LOOK LIKE YOU LOVE THEM AS I DO.
Thank you. The leca does not dry out if the reservoir has nutrient solution. It may look dry but it is not. The black bits are just what the roots look like. I will do an update of this plant. To say this pot is thriving is an understatement. All 3 are doing well and the roots have grown out of the inner pot into the reservoir and look fabulous.
👌🏻💚🪴
Thanks Natalie.
1:26 "Gentle squeezes" _Puts her entire body weight into it_
Well it was not moving at all !!!😊😁
Looks like root rotted to me
Thankfully it didn't and is now thriving: czcams.com/video/GE2hmeopJjs/video.html
