NKOTB has always said that New Edition is a fave and an inspiration. They are not wrong. I love both these groups!
With everything Bobby has had to deal with, that man looks AMAZING. He sounded great too. NE is fly and fresh AF. Their wardrobe is ALWAYS on point. They're all over 50 and are STILL fine.
Going to see them February. The group, Bobby included, can dance faster, better, and longer than I could even if I was 20 years younger. They got fountain of youth

I saw this show coming up about him and his family, and there was a spot showing Bobby using a breathalyzer in his car in regards to his alcohol problems, as he said he could slip up. Much prayers to this guy, and that he stays focused and on the right path. This performance was the best I ever heard him sing in a long time.
New Edition was formed in 1978 and were together until 1985 when Bobby went solo. New Kids on the Block were formed in 1984 -1994 Jordan, Danny, and Joe went solo and Donnie into movies. Then NKOTB Re United in 2008 and are still touring. 2022 Tour should be great.

@@LeonCook34not correct. NE went on to do the All For Love album as a quartet. Gill wasn’t added right away. Then they did a 50’s era album “Under the Blue Moon.” When they went to do their NE Heartbreak album, they wanted a mature sound so Mike Bivins sought out Johnny Gill. They met a few times but eventually Johnny agreed to join the group but still had a solo album he had to do with MCA so Mike suggested that he join NE, do the NE Heartbreak album which Mike believed would make Johnny’s solo album huge. Boy was Mike right.

New edition formed in 1978 and New kids on the block premiered in 1984. Just to let you know, the only gay member of new kids on the block is Jordan Knight's brother Jonathan. Joe Mcintyre is a married father of a son.

He sais that because Maurice Starr discovered New Edition and then put out New Kids when they fired him as a direct copy cat!
@@remolandlife5642 it took some DJ in Florida to play "Please Don't Go Girl" on Pop radio, for Maurice to see, R&B wasn't working, then needed to be Pop starts, and then they blew up. I think they would have disbanded if that DJ didn't play that song. Maurice couldn't reinvent the wheel with these guys. They needed their own style in the right genre of music.
Donnie said it at the beginning of this program but you couldn't hear it because these guys were talking over him.

Nkotb are touring in 2022 with En Vogue, Salt n Pepa and Rick Astley. New Edition are going to tour. Nkotb and NE have Mutual love and respect for each other. They did collab in 2008 with "Full Service " this was more a brotherhood than a battle. There may be a tour together maybe 2023. We shall see. BTS were dancing along and at the end they bowed to one another. Check out Nkotb Boys in the Band
That tour will be crazy. Our wives will be dragging us out there I'm sure. By dragging I mean we are running in front of them to our seats! lol
NE is negotiating a Vegas residency for next year as well!!

I am so so honored to be alive and see the boy band setting not only their own internal differences aside but also from boy band to boy band and music genre (RNB, Pop etc) to do a collaboration in the name of music, the fans and unity.

Memories. I remember NE when i was really young. I was more aware of NKOTB when they 1st came out, even got an NKOTB sleeping bag for a gift once. Both bands can take my money anytime. This had me cracking up. I'm trying not wake up my child with my laughing. When he said he can't stand Hangin Tough, I almost spit out my food! And you're absolutely right, nah to 98°. New edition started in '78 and they broke up in 89. NKOTB started in 84 then broke up in 94 and they got back together in 08

Haha I feel you with not liking Hanging Tough. As a long time NKOTB fan, I’ve had a love/hate with it. Gotta love it in concert when you look around at the whole venue waving their arms in the air. But, it always closes their concerts, so I usually cry through it.
Also love NE…I grew up in them. This collab was 🔥🔥🔥and I keep watching it regularly. I’d LOVE an NENKOTB tour. Saw NKOTB with BBD at Fenway last summer! Amazing!

Hangin tough was wrote for the NBA Boston Celtics for their theme song but they didn’t know the new kids on the block so they turned it down.

I was born in 1982, my sister 1976, and I remember in 1987-88, I was swiping my sisters tapes of New Kids On The Block so the earliest for them was 87'. Still love them!

My first ever single was candy girl , it wasn't a huge hit here in the UK , but I loved it , I must have been about 10 I think.
New Edition have gone through so much , seeing this with new kids just took me back.
I think this was the best event on the AMAs, cause after this, I turned the channel. I'm like NE 2.0 and NKOTB 2.0 (their comeback). When they both came out, I wasn't in that bubble gum type music in the 80s as I was in my early 20s and I was digging on Keith Sweat back then...lol. When someone said "Can You Stand The Rain" was when NE was on that "grown man sh-t"...lol, that is when I started listening to them as yes when that album came out, as I now could relate and didn't sound like "kiddie music", and the same with NKOTB when they came back in 2008, especially that song with Neo "Single"...I was like "who is this?" Now, I did like some of their 90s songs, then they just quit what around 93, 94? I've been hooked ever since with both groups as now it was that "grown man "sh-t" music...lol. I just love the respect and love that both groups have for each other, especially Donnie Walberg...he especially wants you to know without NE, there would be no NKOTB. Also, I like your podcast, so subscribing.😄

I think Donnie Walhburgh was seen as a joke in the hanging tough video , no one liked him, but he has ended up being the coolest member.

My only complaint about this performance is that both NE and NKOTB have a song together (from NKOTB's The Block album back in 2008) called Full service and they didn't sang it there. (It would be good if you react to that song 😉)
