Thanks a milli9n bro I got an 06 3.9 n was like oh boy imma have to drop the motor down this will save me time and a headache 😊
Thanks for the video! I own a "05" 4.2L Mercury Monterey and are pretty much identical. Helped me complete my tune up with no problems! Thanks!!
Thank you. Just bought a freestar yesterday and had no idea where the other 3 sparkplugs where or how to add brake fluid.....THANK YOU.
Very nicely produced. I have an 06 with 316k it deserves a tune-up.
if ford had a better idea they kept it to themselves
Great tip about removing the cabin air blower but my bolts would just spin when trying to loosen them so I ended up doing the "feel" method, ugh. Its definitely is a game changer if you can actually get that dang plastic shroud off. Thanks.
Getting prepped to do this for my parent's van. It also reminds me why I don't own any vehicles with transverse mounted enginesl. 😆
At least this is easier to pull apart for access to the backside plugs. Had to do a Hyundai Sonata recently and that required the upper intake manifold to come out! Great video, this is exactly what I needed.
Don't forget to mark the windshield arms for reinstall. Also might want to clean or replace that small air filter.
Might want to upload this again, because the title says it's for a Ford Freestyle, but you're actually doing it on a Freestar van. Thanks for sharing, just want to make sure the right people that need it see it! :)
Thanks for the heads up will change title and description.
Ford was retarded for making two names so similar
I know the video is a few years back, but you must reseal the wiper cowling on the right side at the top. If you don't, rain water will leak on to the computer under it and give you all kinds of problems. There is a bulletin on this from ford.
Ok so yea im doing this myself & i didnt realize it wasnt going to be as much trouble as i was told... I was quoted 400$ just in labor to start with then 100$ per hr after
What kind of sealant?
Spot On demo of how to do this job. I find that because of poor lighting in my garage, it is easier to remove the hood as well (only four small screws). Also, if the vehicle has more than 120k, best to change the ignition module and wires as well. As being noted below- reseal the lower cowling next to the computer with plenty of sealant!
Thanks for helping. Just changed my plugs they work great
Good job. Have my daughter's to do next weekend. Not as bad as a nightmare as I thought it would be getting to those back firewall plugs.
Thanks for the info. I thought my Dodge van was hard. Good think I watched this.
You are are the man for this job bro...great video..💯💯💪💪💪💪💪
I have one of these vans. A lot of people think its better to leave the wiper cowling in place while trying to replace the plugs. They don't want to invest the time to remove the cowling. Doing that is just plain dumb. The cowling is designed to be easily removed for maintenance. Trying to work around the cowling will make the entire job a lot more difficult and time consuming.
Great overview! Thanks! Subscribed.
Thank you! Very helpful!
Do you know what's funny. The Ford service manual says to use a spark plug boot remover tool to remove the spark plug boot. I can't see how that tool would fit in the back side of the engine without pulling the entire engine out.
Good presentation 👍
good instruction on video,, do you do one on how to change upper & lower intake manifold gaskets
Stephen Cameron Thanks, but I do not have a video for that. Sorry.
Fixing cars and stuff, did you even check the Gap in the spark plug? Can you tell me what Gap the plugs were out of the box?
In one of your next videos can you retap a blown spark plug from the block, Ford Freestar 2005 3.9l
Please and thank you
Thank u for the video looks like it going to help a lot
what mm sockect did you used to open the spark plug?
which one is the cylinder no.2 ?
I forgot to put that friction fit piece back after I put everything together! How necessary is that piece to put back on? Or does it not really matter?
Just did this on my 04 freestar. Still running rough. 😢
Bro thanks for the video, but the firing order you totally seemed confused, or maybe I just didn't grasp your zip zag, placing your finger in the same spot twice
Nice job but a little clean up and wash on the car assembly could be nicer 😉
What size was the socket to pull out spark plugs ?
5/8 Socket
I had to stop watching when he started taking the cowls off without blowing it all off first. What a mess. I was too trigered to even keep watching.
whats the firing order for the coil?
I am haveing a problem getting the wiper arm off so i can remove the black cover
Hi my wiper blade froze then with the pressure broke the cowl surrounding the plastic that the wiper mount to but have now way to find new one you say cowl but i cant find it any ideas any info will be a big help
Excellent Excellent Video
Why do they make it so hard?
Gee , maybe if you vacuumed the pine needles up it might have been a much better video .
does the wiper lift out easily? i removed te bolt but its not lifting
Tap on the stud with a hammer (not hard... just taps) while prying on it with a screwdriver or something
It might be a pain.... but if it will spin on the stud.... it's almost their
Camera wiggling too much
what is the gap on the sparks plugs
+norma solano 052-.056 it is stated in the owners manual for the van. Also torque specs are 10 foot pounds. DO NOT use anti-seize on 2006-2007 It has an aluminum heads and anti-seize can cause over torqueing and can possibly strip out the threads on your next spark plug replacement when removing them. At 10 foot pounds they are not going to seize they come out very easy. Never change the plugs on a hot engine with aluminum heads or your can strip the threads out. Wait for it to cool down, aluminum expands a lot more than cast iron when hot, making the plugs extremely tight.
