Agreed and I always thought how Elaine’s character evolved toward the end of the run to be kind of a slap in the face to the already established character. I don’t think this Elaine would have turned into the jaded, bitter, and somewhat soulless Elaine we see by the end of the series. It just didn’t fit for her, even when it made sense for the guys. But then again by the end the whole show was a caricature of the earlier seasons.

This is why Seinfeld is so great. It's Jerry as the "perfect example" (mostly) and the further away from him it gets the characters get crazier and scarier. In this scene he has almost removed the show from comedy. Elaine AND the show is taking a tour into a scary movie. Hannibal Lecter meets the crew. As she rushes out she takes the show back to safety. Another character that is far out is Georges father. To me this is like an artist who is an expert on oil paintings, but he might as well be doing any other technique. So he does a different type of painting, he carves in stone just to show off. And it's brilliant.

Listen. This scene has literally NOTHING to do AT ALL with why Seinfeld is so great. This scene is as far removed from ANY other scene or moment in the almost NEVER *actually* uncomfortable/scary/too real. Everyone has to stop trying to say this or that about this scene. This scene was an anomaly in a perfect comedy series. It was ACTUALLY scary (and no, I am the furthest thing from a lib or snowflake or any of that crap)- I am simply speaking matter of factly. There was no humor here- just terror. Laughs were forced. She was about to get RAPED or DIE. That has NOTHING to do with Seinfeld AT. ALL.

It was daring for a comedy show to go this dark. Really, the whole Davola arc walked a fine line. It ends with him attempting to murder the show's title character. I think if I saw through an open door a shrine to myself on the wall, I'd make the U-turn right then, rather than going in for a closer look, but I'm not in a thriller, or a sitcom that has briefly become one.

    1) Probably one of Seinfeld's darkest comic effect moments!
    2) Today, Crazy Joe Davola would go for Jennifer Lawrence.

I think people are underestimating just how important this scene was for women. I NEVER thought about doing this as a form of protection, and frankly, it's brilliant. Small enough to conceal in one's hand, easy enough to use for even the weakest person, a tiny spray bottle of anything (other than water) is perfection. Unfortunately, Binaca is no longer in production, so other breath sprays or perfume or whatever you can get must be used. Thank you SO MUCH to the Seinfeld production for helping all women be better protected against the Crazy Joe Davolas of the world!
