      I know it is a 1:24 record. I saw a 1:10 guy do 70 degrees in a video. Nobody has claimed above that from what I have seen so far at any scale. I plan to beat it again in the next week if all goes well.

      Impact. ; )
      Clipboards are good because they are ridged. They do not bow through the middle and change angle as you rise. A long board that bows will naturally have less angle at the bottom and more at the top. For a long board I'd like to see measurements taken at both ends of the and the middle to make sure the angle is consistent. Otherwise you are measuring the angle of a half pipe at only one position. It is not valid.

  • @derek488
    @derek488 Před rokem +1

    Needs to be adhesive sandpaper and not cloth. Cloth stretches and folds behind the wheels, basically holding on to them an essentially creating a different angle that it's actually climbing at.

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  Před rokem

      The height of the axle above the surface never changes. Therefore the angle of climb doesn't either.

    That's a special cloth. Probably a micro fibre cloth that attaches to the tires well. Let's see you do it on a plywood!

    • @EXPIOWA
      @EXPIOWA  Před 2 lety +2

      Correct. The idea was to eliminate tire grip from the experiment so I could discover the incline limit of the chassis. I eventually got to 73 degrees with another chassis.
      Below is a link to a recent tire test video where I weighted the chassis specialty to try to determine the traction limit of the tires on grip tape and cardboard. The results may surprise you.

      What? 🤪 Stock body? That is crazy talk. Only one of my six SCX24s has a stock body and it is a B17 still in the box. Its not coming out any time soon. ; )
      I did a previous climb at 66 degrees. I am pretty sure I could beat it knowing what I know now. I did a 64 degree climb with Mud Slingers in another video if you look around my channel. Big tires hurt climb angle.

    I can do 64 with the battery in the normal spot. But that's pretty cool I suppose.. if you make a tray with the battery that's touching the ground you might be able to hit 80 if you put some weights on there.

      Mine did 66 with everything in its stock location. I know how to get more out of it but I think 75 or 76 is going to be about all. The tires won't hold at 80 degrees even if I had the CG to do it.

Is that normal im sure more grip to be had with bunching up material... do it on something that doesnt bunch under tires, i know for fact it climbs easier on that substrate.also good for challenge i supose bit useless otherwise is the battery underneath, can only climb flat verts or can it climb an obstacle i modded mine with another servo to compress suspension when wanted for extra angle, gets me about 4° more angle with all my body and lights and stuff. Best of both worlds gets good angle and can crawl anything.
