I think the foreign talents issue is always going to be a very sensitive issue and there are things that the government is unable to speak out too specifically and too clearly. By and large, I think it will be accurate to say that Singaporeans are generally very welcoming to foreigners and foreign talents. The issue is that there's a very strong tendency for a particular ethnic group of foreigners to be extremely cliquish and to hire only their own kind in the workplace. This has really created a lot of animosity among the Singaporeans who expect nothing short of meritocracy and are not used to seeing this sort of cronyism and favouritism.

I don't agree that the overall living expenses are cheaper in Europe such as London. Since I am a local and live in a fully paid-up HDB and do not own a car, I find the cost of living in Spore is manageable with my net income after deducting income tax and GST. I do agree that for a foreigner who has to pay housing rental, Singapore is expensive. None of my business though since I live in subsidized public housing.

The British banks have closed ranks against sending money to and from crypto exchanges, claiming that they're acting in their customers' best interests by protecting them against potential scammers. In which case why aren't people prevented from other forms of gambling with their own money? My question is simply to learn whether Singapore banks are similarly obstructive to customers wanting to buy Bitcoin; the least risky investment on Planet Earth! If they are acting like British banks, it's most likely that they're equally terrified of losing control of the money.

Alexander is not clear cut honest business person. He had some problems in both UK and Russia with tax authorities and this is one of the reasons not wanting to move back to UK. Singapore is not tax heaven is investment hub .If you are big company with a good projects and ideas is the place to be but as foreigner you have little to no rights when comes down to running a business .What most foreign investors do is to relay on local business person to run day to day business and everything regarding taxations .Many foreigners use outside companies traded on exchange just to be in Singapore. I assume Alexander is doing that .Realistically this door will be closed in 2026 both US, EU and China are actively putting pressure on Singapore to not allow companies changing countries just for sake of saving money and insurance payments.

Good values/principles and appropriate fairness aren’t the same as ideals that are often loosely spoken and not carried out.

Our luxury tax is high. Not everybody wants or needs luxury. But everybody needs food. And i'm pretty sure food is a lot more affordable here.
And then he compares London and Singapore.
It certainly is more expensive for a foreigner in Singapore than a Singaporean. Foreigners have to send their kids to internationa school. If they buy a condo, there are certain taxes that a Singaporean would be exempted from. There are no subsidies for healthcare.
Is it more expensive for a Singaporean to live in London, than a Brit? For example; can a Singaporean family get their children into their public schools?
As for feeling like the hired help... i guess he doesn't enjoy not being the star of the show anymore.
