I was there in the audience on the left of QOTSA in camera. Sounded even better there... wasn't planning on buying the new album but after last night I'm definitely getting it.
I always knew QOTSA will pull something special out of the bag for this album, but to produce songs like this is just unreal after being together for more than a decade, respect to Josh Homme
I was eagerly awaiting the release of this album, as they are one of my all time favorite bands. QOTSA has a sound uniquely all their own. I've always loved their trippy, acid induced sound.I'm 46 yrs old and a HUGE music fan... I can't recall a band that sounds so loose and yet, is so technically proficient. They are an AMAZING band and this album is the fucking shit!
@@Rob954ever lucky man, hope you enjoy the show in August. My dream gig is seeing Tool live, planning to seem them next time they’re in the EU, QOTSA comes in a close second.
it is beautiful to hear how Josh and co.have developed and grown...the new material is Beautiful Art!! Thank you Josh ..For using my instruments to present the new material..i am beyond honored!
The fact that this album comes out in sync with a shitty ass breakup I've gone through with a girl is nothing short of a musical miracle. Thank you QOTSA for helping me get through this bullshit! "There ain't no use in crying, it doesn't change anything."
I like how they let Mikey sing with his own voice in this song--not an overly-high pitched squeal like on Era Vulgaris (to match the recording), or a copy of Nick's screaming. Its smoother sounding this way.
They seem like they’re underwelming on the performance aspects so yeh I get it but the stuff he’s playing can’t be played running around the stage and going crazy. This song IS SO AMAZING
I sat by the ocean And drank a potion, baby to erase you Face down in the boulevard yet I couldn't face you There ain't no use in cryin' It doesn't change anything, so baby what good does it do? Your friends they'll sympathize, maybe I don't need them to Imagine I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me, and a lie Silence is closer We're passing ships in the night There's nowhere to run away Said, 'Boy if you want love, you'll have to go and find it with someone new' 'Do you know who you really are? Are you sure it's really you'? Lies are a funny thing They slip through your fingertips because they never happened to you Time wounds all the heals as we fade out of view Imagine I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me, and a lie Silence is closer We're passing ships in the night You, me, and a lie Silence is closer We're passing ships in the night Into the light, left with nowhere to hide Closer and closer We're crashing ships in the night
Oh, man! The band even looks a bit like Blur :) It's Graham Coxon's guitar sound, it's that kind of Blur beat (on Coffee and TV) end even the bass sound is like the Blur! Love that kind of marimba (?) sound. Josh knows his music, i red he likes stuff from Krautrock to Black Sabbath.
I need to know what kind of Frankenstein guitar Josh is playing here. Looks like an Epiphone Coronet/Crestwood, but the headstock and pickups are different. The tone he gets out of that thing without an iota of noise or feedback is a thing of beauty by itself. These guys and their techs know their guitar stuff.
I was thinking "sounds a bit like Coffee and TV" as well :] I haven't seen anything else from this episode, but from this I'm pretty sure they made the other bands look bad :P
One of the best songs by this band. I honestly think ...Like Clockwork is their best album, I cannot stop fucking listening to it!!!!!!!!
It's only like their seventh best album
Calteque Buffalograss Hahaha.... good one!
yeah, 7 years late but some of my favorite queens songs of ll time are on that album for sure
@@caltequebuffalograss7503it’s my favourite
This is the ex-drummer from Mars Volta! He's a fuckin beast! This song may not portray his insane abilities, but it does show he is a human metronome.
deantony parks is much better
from mars volta also, he is a drummer like no other, love mars volta
That makes sense
Man the way the bass and guitar play off each other in the beginning with the slide guitar is just pure fuckin awesomeness
I almost want the song to just start right up again at the end, the circularity of it is really cool.
The bass...listen...
I Love the shift in sound on this one. Not so grungy, but fucken has that grit still! Definitely towards a different side of themselves
Homme is such a talented artist. My favorit band. At the moment...
Homme is a very underreated performer- musician - writer. He is a poet to the xennials.
I was there in the audience on the left of QOTSA in camera. Sounded even better there... wasn't planning on buying the new album but after last night I'm definitely getting it.
Good call on Coffee & TV. Love that song.
One of the best of the album! The live version is perfect.
Sounds even better live! An excellent performance.
I always knew QOTSA will pull something special out of the bag for this album, but to produce songs like this is just unreal after being together for more than a decade, respect to Josh Homme

dude you're 56 now, how were the last 10 years? i'm getting closer to 40, i still remember buying Songs for the Deaf when i was a kid.
@@Danny-wv8ec Still loving them....maybe more so now that I'm older. Gonna see them in August in Atlanta.👍🏼
@@Rob954ever oh man i wish i could catch them live, the bands that i like don’t play gigs here in Beirut.
@@Danny-wv8ec This will be the 4th time I've seen them. They are AMAZING live.
@@Rob954ever lucky man, hope you enjoy the show in August. My dream gig is seeing Tool live, planning to seem them next time they’re in the EU, QOTSA comes in a close second.
SHOES IS AMAZING!!!
Really adds the right groves to the songs!
I don't know how more deep you can get in the pocket with Jon Theodore keeping time.
Right? Metronomes aspire to be this on time.
I'm mostly hearing bass. This is not a bad thing.
Wow it's amazing how this song sounds just like the studio version...
i didnt think i would buy anymore qotsa albums but this tune has changed my mind
Obsesionada con esta canción desde hace días 🎧🤓
This and if I had a tail make me wanna dance... I never want to dance!!!!!!! So pumped to see these guys in August
Fucking good band these are. And that guy can sing.
one of my favorites
This is the feel good hit of the summer!
Very good, very good.x
Another reason i love this song is that it reminds me kinda of Blur Coffee & Netflix.
I totally agree!
Awsom that is all
it is beautiful to hear how Josh and co.have developed and grown...the new material is Beautiful Art!! Thank you Josh ..For using my instruments to present the new material..i am beyond honored!
Perfection, Josh always gets it right. More mature and mellow.
The fact that this album comes out in sync with a shitty ass breakup I've gone through with a girl is nothing short of a musical miracle. Thank you QOTSA for helping me get through this bullshit! "There ain't no use in crying, it doesn't change anything."
this song perfectly captures the essence of Queens' previous albums
Favourite song on the new album. So good.
hah! I definitely hear Coffee and TV as well !
I would love an entire song comprised of riffs like the one at the beginning and between the verses.
I cant wait for the new Album. I've listened to this song about 45 time today!! Ok more like 6
Why isn’t villains of circumstance anywhere on live with jools?? That was a mesmerizing performance 😩 😞
Sign this one up for the SNL performance. Smooth tune!!! Some Beachboys, Foghat, and everything nice going on here.
Get it Troy!
The joke was that the last drummer, Joey Castillo, ALWAYS played twice as fast as the rest of the band. :)
This reminds me so much of The Cars. Think "Let the Good Times Roll"
Give our band a listen guys. Cheers 😎🤘
when I read what you put about Coffee and Tv, I get it
I like how they let Mikey sing with his own voice in this song--not an overly-high pitched squeal like on Era Vulgaris (to match the recording), or a copy of Nick's screaming.
Its smoother sounding this way.
yes, thanks for figuring that out
LOVE the bass in this one. Mikey-fucking-Shoes
I second that mate! but still a killer song!
They seem like they’re underwelming on the performance aspects so yeh I get it but the stuff he’s playing can’t be played running around the stage and going crazy. This song IS SO AMAZING
Bad ass bass.
I love how Troy is always dressed so snazzy
Bands evolve, get over it they're still just as amazing as they were on Rated R, Songs for the Deaf, etc.
it makes sense as a build up to the chorus. And it is on the studio version :)
I like how all 3 guitarists are using a slide at one point in this video. And how josh tosses his behind him when he's threw with it
I sat by the ocean
And drank a potion, baby to erase you
Face down in the boulevard yet I couldn't face you
There ain't no use in cryin'
It doesn't change anything, so baby what good does it do?
Your friends they'll sympathize, maybe I don't need them to
Imagine I'd be your one and only
Instead I'm the lonely one
You, me, and a lie
Silence is closer
We're passing ships in the night
There's nowhere to run away
Said, 'Boy if you want love, you'll have to go and find it with someone new'
'Do you know who you really are? Are you sure it's really you'?
Lies are a funny thing
They slip through your fingertips because they never happened to you
Time wounds all the heals as we fade out of view

Instead I'm the lonely one
You, me, and a lie
Silence is closer
We're passing ships in the night
You, me, and a lie
Silence is closer
We're passing ships in the night
Into the light, left with nowhere to hide
Closer and closer
We're crashing ships in the night
badass when Josh just tosses away his slide giving no fucks
Goddam I wish I was going to down load awesome xx
Beautiful song... and I see you Jon Theodore drumming your ass off!!
Yes! first thought was blur and other brit-pop. which isn't a knock. I think we all dig it...
This is great shit!!
I love dancing Troy
I need to know what kind of Frankenstein guitar Josh is playing here. Looks like an Epiphone Coronet/Crestwood, but the headstock and pickups are different.

I Sat by the Ocean
You, me and a lie!
2:01 Josh non-shalantly throws his slide behind him haha
Haha ..that's the best - good spot!
Dude is just so calm and collected
New line up is totally dialed in.
Badass shit maaan
fucking greatest reply
Is a La Carne model? how awesome is that!!! congrats
ahh...gotcha
this song should be in the next Tarantino film!
ERMEHGERD. Jon Theodore + QOTSA? Um, FUCK YES.
New Killer Star ...Bowie,,,,,
he's doing exactly what he's supposed to on this song. It has a very "clockwork" feel, huh?
Superiority.
check out the mars volta if you wanna see him doing some swing timey stuff. He's fucking fantastic
Coffee and TV. Lol, I see where you're coming from, in the verses certainly.
Jon Theodore \o/
sounds like a them crooked vultures...riffs and falsettos...
Also: New Killer Star, Bowie.
I'm assuming you're seeing them in Calgary?? I'm excited too!!! August 3rd in Edmonton!
I have really took a liking to Mikey with this Album.
It sounds like "I Sat by the Ocean" :P
Sounds like "Coffee and Tv" by Blur.
I feel alive again.
Or an Airliner ala Jack White
@joao reis. Grohl only recorded 4 drum tracks on this album
ohey josh.
ahahahahaha true!
what this is ten years ago?
remenber....
Nevermind, got it.
It's an Echopark La Carne.
Well, after they had recorded with Dave Grohl it doesn't seem they could find someone better xD
but this guy is also awesome!!
Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins actually recommended Theodore to Josh. Theodore is badass!
I can't think of any song - which song are you thinking of?
Dark
I love the bass at the beginning < 3 But ... why Josh' cut his hair ? x )
Definately Blur, First thought when the first chords came on....
Did you get that from the Jason Ellis show?
Bowie.
I was thinking "sounds a bit like Coffee and TV" as well :] I haven't seen anything else from this episode, but from this I'm pretty sure they made the other bands look bad :P
Good call!
