Undertow is such a powerful song. When they go into the chorus (from the pre-chorus) the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!! Great stuff!

Pretty sure he's talking about "from the Undertow", which is a track from TB's first solo album. But I agree about the song Undertow.

Fantastic! A Curious Feeling is one of my all-time favourite albums. The use of synthesisers is sublime -- there's nothing else quite like it out there.

I don't make this sort of comment easily - or often - but From the Undertow is an absolutely knock-out track on a very, very special album. Tony's comments help me to understand a little bit why that might be so.

Thanks Tony!! - I am pretty sure that there are a bunch of us out here
in listening-land that love your crescendoes as well👍🙌 - I’m surely
and certainly one of them. Good to see you in such a relaxed mode
behind a mixing board and in a studio again for that mattter.
As always, thank you for your undying inspiration.
Can’t wait to hear all the new remasters!
Take care & all the best from Mike from “across the pond”.

Polymoog is a fantastic sounding and expressive instrument for sure. I never get tired of the sounds and presence it has especially with a piano, minimoog or Arp mixed with it. Thanks for sharing this bit of recording with us.

This series is actually a really good idea... i was just reading a 2012 interview and realized that many of the questions that have been asked recently where already asked and answered all the same. It's always nice to have an even more indept analysis of your music specially coming from you Tony.

Not sure if I got you right, but the Polymoog is a synthesizer from Moog ( www.vintagesynth.com/moog/polymoog.php ), and Prophet 5 is from Sequential Circuits (www.vintagesynth.com/sci/p5.php) Different manufactors and different instruments - both great and legendary. Or do you mean Tony replaced his Polymoog with a Prophet?

Although I have loved pretty much everything that Tony has written and played from the early 1970s, for me I always come back to "A Curious Feeling" (in the same way as Nursery, Cryme, Foxtrot , Selling England etc). Waters of Lethe, From the Undertow and Lucky Me are such unique , atmospheric compositions. I often wish that on the one occasion that I, very briefly, met Tony at the Cheltenham Festival concert, that I had asked which pieces he was most proud of. I imagine that at least something from A Curious Feeling might make the top 3.

Is the "A Curious Feeling" album in the box set an again-newly-remastered version, or is it the same remastered version that had been already released a few years ago?

I note that Tony doesn't actually play a Polymoog in this video - probably couldn't find one that was working (they were notoriously unreliable). Moog were selling a dream that didn't actually deliver very well. I owned one for 34 years, gigged and recorded with it, but soon got tired of the constant breakdowns and it sat in my garage for years, until I sold it for a ridiculous price to an enthusiast restorer. The Polymoog was basically not fit for purpose, but I know some bands made memorable tracks with them..

I don't know... Mine just got here a few days ago. (It's still in the wrapper. Came with a simple autographed placard -- kinda like my deluxe version of Five with the sheet music for "Prelude...")
Anyway, having grown up with a lot of these on tape it's nice to have them all in one place on the CD's now -- like The Wicked Lady -- and having the DVD with the vid's is kinda nice, too.
