We need hammonds workshop in the USA please help us
Please tell me you didn't use the old rusted factory bolts 🤦 because it sure looked like you did🤣🤔😒😵😡
Working on the car starts at the 6:00
The real MVP
Keep doing God’s work my friend
Quite. No one gives a toss about post 1980's-90's F1 livery
@@affalaffaa i think you'll find you're very wrong. i loved the section about the jaguar F1 team, as many would have.
@@affalaffaa Speak for yourself. I like F1 a lot. Old and new.
Very cool to see Swallows Racing develop suspension specifically to mimic the Jag ride quality, yet make them adjustable. Really curious how it will handle once they're done!
My personal favourite is still the XJR though, because it looks so sinister.
Richard's car is gangster AF, but this XK will be super special once it's finessed 🤌
@@Drivetribe I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the XK is going to come out. It's a great car as well, I love Jag's in general, but if I had to make the choice it would be the XJR.
Mainly just happy to see a Jag project, as most car channels do muscle cars, JDM or German sedans.
Can’t wait to see the inevitable colab between yourself (Richard too) & Alex
The greatest Fl1 livery "John Player Special" The black and gold was what I grew up with, so it must be the best.
The Jaguar F1 livery still one of my favorites of all time.
YESSSS we might get to hear this one running with its new exhaust on. Hope Mike don't forget the Lambda sensors, this time! 😀
Thank you for actually showing the work in this episode! 👍👍
I noticed on the last episode of Hammond’s xj that they said “we’ve done this, we’ve done that” but we only got to see the finished product and not the work. Kind of ruined it me and as for them there’s a lot more content in that
The Smallest Cog has been very busy recently so we weren't able to film the nitty gritty of Richard's XJ work. Thank you for the feedback, we'll aim to make the future episodes as in-depth as we can 🙂 - Mike
@@Drivetribe I understand you’re very busy with the smallest cog and I appreciate that. I just love seeing the work on the cars too. I hope we catch some more of it in future episodes. The episodes are still enjoyable to watch too 👌
This has been a very fun series, the best Drivetribe project cars easily.
Thank you!
Once this car is built there's only one thing needed, get Clarkson to drive it and do his smug "jaaaaaggggg" face 😂
It's super refreshing to see the guys at Swallows thinking ahead re cores and spares for that subframe (and undoubtably other parts/programs). So many folks are reactionary today it makes me smile to see that!
Thank you for showing us how easy things in life could be. this inspires me to look into doing this for my fifth GEN Corvette
Best F1 livery ever: Black and Gold from John Player Special.
Nahhh
At 11:58 You are re-using the original rusty sub-frame bolts - Why?
I thought the same. Please don’t tell me they put the same one in they partly rounded off too.
2:20 I do like it a lot, and it's kinda funny because i was discussing livery ideas recently with someone, and i suggested that Red Bull could do their cars in my favorite flavor color, which would be the green from the Cactusfruit flavor.
I made a quick Photoshop mockup of what i would think it might look like, and i could've sworn that it reminded me of something, and now i know what it reminded me of, haha, it's this livery.
Although mine had a couple more magenta highlights, that is used on the Red Bull can (and is the color of the actual soda), and of course the Red Bull logo would add more yellow/orange coloring to it, but otherwise my concept was pretty much the same as this one.
I would like to see Red Bull try out their rainbow of flavors over a season.
Loving these episodes!!!
Pretty impressive production quality on these videos
Watching this series is a absolute pleasure!
I grew up in a jag family, from 1980s V12 XJs too the same age and shape XJR as Richards.
Genuinely got me on eBay and auto trader looking for a nice 3.2 xj8 se 😂
As a kid I had a hot wheels size die cast toy of tris car. Absolutely the reason I love dark metallic green pain on anything automotive.
Watched a bit of Vettel in like 2013, more or less the extent of my second hand f1 viewing - but I have to say that Jaaag livery looks amazing
Grandad used to own one and I wish they had the same regard today because I'd have loved one of the old ones modern day and new
4:07 -- "All we know is, he's called The Puddlesucker."
I really enjoy watching you all work on those Jags because I have no interest to ever own or work on one LOL Enjoy Mike and Richard !
Excellent video series!
I en joyed this episode nuts and bolts which makes it interesting and also when you drive it for the time
When it comes to F1 liveries, for me the most memorable is the yellow Jordan livery with the (probably) P40 Warhawk inspired mouth on the front.
I totally agree on yellow jordan livery. Although I think you mistake a p40 warhawk with the jordan simply having a snake head on the nose. Either way, it's far more epic than this green livery. (although I will admit that this livery is far above the average f1 livery)
Yes! The 1998 model with the honda powered v10 looked and sounded amazing 👌
As a brief aside.......The 'Sharks Mouth' originates from Luftwaffe Zg 76 flying the Me110d, moves to 112sdn RAF P40s then connects to the AVG of the Chinese Airforce P40s known as the Flying Tigers.
in case anyone is wondering, here in japan car shops don't gouge on maintenance. my 6 monthly oil change and tune up costs about $50. every 2 years we're required by law to get a more thorough inspection and anything worn or dodgy has to be repaired. minimum cost for this is about $1000 per, though for cars over 10 years old it's usually closer to the $2000 mark with parts needing to be replaced.
people happily do regular maintenance because it's cheap and hassle-free, and there's no way to opt out of the thorough jobs that do cost a lot.
Rust free Jags with low mileage are also to be had Down Under. My 2004 XK8 Coupe only has 130,000 ks & no rust at all, but am also about to replace the front struts & top plates.
Loved that Livery in the early 2000’s as a kid too. Still got a couple if Miniature models of them…
we need longer episodes!!
I bought a Rover SD1, it broke down at peak hour causing a mass traffic jam that caused the police to turn of traffic lights in order to sort out the traffic jam at Sydney airport and central Sydney roads. That got me on the news that day.
The Jag F1 livery is one of my favourites, but the best? Nah.
The JPS Lotus. The Marlboro McLaren. The Rothmans Williams. The B&H Jordan. The 7-Up Jordan. The Orange Arrows.
Not just a list of liveries better, but also more iconic.
Enjoy all these videos and have been waiting for the best of the R's to show up? The XFR! Super saloon!
Not even in the background of these videos, all other jags, no XFRs? Are they that Rare?
Keep up the cool videos, watching all of them, love the jag stuff!👍🏻
I wonder how much all of this would cost. The tune up, coolant pipes, supercharger pulleys, gaskets, powder coating, bushings, etc. I’d love all this done to my 2002 XJR 100, but I’m in the US and would prefer to have it in the hands of these guys who are completely familiar with this era of Jags.
The 3-minute video plus 10-minute advert format is proving to be popular (chuckles)
My cousin drove the Jaguar R4 in the later half of 2003, I have a signed minichamps model of the very car.
Cant wait to see the results!!!!!
Might be finished in 50 episodes at this rate.
I was gonnae go out for a small drink because I got the notif at the end of service. Now, I'll probs watch it a couple 'a' times. How 'bout that Messi, eh? What a lad....
The R3 was my favourite, McDonalds had a Formula One Promo and it was the best car you could find.
Sorry Jag fans, but I have to go with the Lotus black & gold John Player Special cars as my favorite F1 livery. Jaguar and the Mclaren Marlboro cars round out my top 3. I do love the Jaguar 44 Le Mans cars!
McLaren Marlboro, Lotus JPS, Benetton Ford, Williams Renault , heck, Brawn GP sponserless livery are all more memorable and beautiful.
JPS👌👌👌
The b roll is strong with this channel 🤣
The 1999 Jordan’s f1 liverie is the best looking by far !!
Love this!
0:20 This was a hilarious Edit they snuck in 😂🤣
Haha, crazy. I have Eddie Irving’s helmet and a gear ratio from the 2002 Australian GP. He finished 4th, with only 7 cars finishing. Mark Webber finished 5th in a Minardi, with Alex Yoong in 7th. Ah the memories.
I had a 1973 XJ6 that had come from the UK. I ended up scrapping it because it had so much rust, I could pull a Fred Flintstone and put my foot through the floor pan. It's a pity cause that was a nice car too.
nice one also nice too see me mate from bk in the days f1 car from my days living and working in north wales
Hearing Mike say leopard is hilarious 🤣🤣
He said leaper.
Nothing will beat that intro 😂
Love these series, you guys are killing it
💪❤
The best F1 livery hands down in the black and gold JPS livery on the lotus cars in the 60's
4:07 I NEED MORE CAT SHOTS
Great video sponsortribe
Fitting you're wearing a Redbull Beanie considering what the Jag team eventually became XD
The Mclaren Gulf livery from a couple of years ago is probably the best.
Someone looks like a racing driver now. Obviously turned up the fitness routine. Incredible! Abby sorted it all out.
Nice but nothing beats the livery of the 1972 John Player Lotus
I prefer the old cigarette car brandings. The camel Williams car was sweet.
Yes we can agree its the best livery. Abssolutely.
Nah, the leaping jaguar is nice but the rest is a mess.
In Todays episode,, we remove a few screws and some bolts, show you some cars and a few adverts
Where can you put the borrowed cutlery & paintings in that Jag F1 car?
Really enjoying this series, and seeing what the chaps at Swallows can do. Keep up the great work❤
The car has also spent a lot of its life in Florida where its always hot which also explains the condition of the car
This channel is the last 4-5 pages of an automag
Surprised you didn't change out the drive axel shafts going through that much trouble... 🤔
Give the man a new beenie!
The touring car X-Type you mentioned (and showed us last week) any plans to get it on a track for the channel?
Plans to race it
Great video.
Just one question - I thought the F1 team was actually Paul Stewart Racing (Sir Jackie’s son’s team).
even in countries that dont salt roads or havent in a long time there still the chance of corrosion the salt just makes it occur faster NZ stopped salting by the 80's [it wasnt even a wide spread method anyways] yet my 97 honda has a reasonable amount of rust probably due to the salt water it lives by and the fact its a small honda thats been bashed about since atleast the mid 2000s
2:27 Well it's the best livery in this video 🤣🤣😉😉
Please please please tell me where you were able to buy that jag jacket. I absolutely love it
It's pretty difficult to find decent shock mounts for these cars now.
G'day Mike.
We convicts oer here in Australia 🇦🇺 also have rhd jaaaags and more than Japan
A different Redbull hat for a different day 😆
It's a nice livery for sure, but have you forgotten about the Lotus black and gold livery?
The John Player special
Just a small nitpick: That is not 2002 Jaguar R3. From how the car (especially around sidepods) is shaped I'd guess that it is a 1999 Stewart SF-3 in Jaguar colors that was used as a show car
You’re right but show cars sadly are often billed as a completely different model from what they are. I’ve seen many people send me a picture of a Frankenstein car Red Bull said was the rb16 and it’s a mix of rb13 and 12 parts
12:01 gunning a dry steel bolt into a dry aluminium subframe, quality mechanics at wurk here
The others had copperslip on them so possibly these have Alu paste since they would do a lot of work with allys
@@davidkilpatrick18 not impossible, but stretching it a bit
Ive got a brake disc off one of the jaguar F1 cars
I miss my XKR. Don't miss the repair bill or the rust though...
what's the "special" socket...did you put a gator grip on that bolt :)
naw, they brayed a smaller socket on...
I feel bad fore Jaguar sometimes, the Ian Callium cars are some of my favorite modern Jags yet no one buys them. Really hope they make more exciting cars.
Interesting. Assuming the XKR had CATS suspension from new, how will you prevent CATS FAILURE message popping up?
Who filmed and edited this piece?
They deserve a mention.
I think the only livery that rivals the Jaguar was the Alonso title winning Renaults. That Blue and Yellow was too nice.
No copper grease on subframe bolts . Tut tut lol 🤣🤣
Cool. A 5 minute video.
John Player Special Lotus in black and gold is the best F1 livery
Adjustable coilovers and stiffer sway bars have been added to the audi RS5, apparently the same result better /more exciting handling similar ride quality. Picking mine up 28th December (sportback competition variant). Lets see if it delivers as reiviewed.
mikes really getting his moneys worth out of that illegitimately acquired redbull beanie
As a new owner of his own very similar Project Jaaaag, i'm addicted to this series. Great stuff!
The JPS Lotus livery was the best in my opinion.
9:48 …just what Taylor said 😮
Now I've seen your XJR, I'm hankering for another XJ Jaguar. Now I dream of the smell of dripping oil in my garage.
Need to send this Jaaaaag back to Japan so it doesn't rust again.
Mate, I need to know where you got that Jaguar racing jacket.
Same somthing I never knew I needed until now 😂😂
Next on adtribe he's what a Jag looks like and here's a 7 min message from our sponsor and here's 1 minute of content. oops I mean here's another ad
At least you're not bodging this one like you did with the Mondeo.
Idk if Swallows would’ve been my first name of choice for a racing team 😂
Why not change the steering wheel from left to right hand drive as well😊
This looks much more like a 1999 Stewart SF3 repainted in Jaguar livery for showrooms.
