    Great , to the point video . Plan on doing my floor this weekend , 2 stall . I hope mine turns out as nice as yours did . I think I will go heavy on the chips , similar to yours .

    • @ericmaass3459

      Well I did get to do my floor . I feel pretty lucky , I was able to find 3 kits off of FB marketplace for $75 . I prepped the floor , even though it was really clean to begin with . I pressure washed it , acid etched it and did a final wipe with acetone. I have a 2 1/2 car garage and I'm glad I bought the 3 kits because I almost ran out . However , I did run out of chips , but was able to run to the hardware store to grab some quick before the paint dried . I wasnt happy with the result , it lists it as a semi gloss , but really it looks more matte . I bought 2 gallons of rustoleum gloss clear and even with 2 coats , only resulted in a semi gloss finish . 4 weeks later , and I even let it cure for 1 week , I already have some dime size spots that have hot tire peeled . My advice is 1) if your going to use your shop for light duty work like woodworking or lawnmower/atv repair , you'll be fine . However for automotive repair where your pulling cars in and out of your shop , I'd skip the kits and have it professionally installed . 2) buy extra kits and chips . I nearly ran out of the epoxy mix and did run outta chips . 3) work fast , I mixed all 3 kits I bought in a bucket and barely finished before the epoxy started to get tacky , little over an hour. 4) clear coat is definitely needed , no where near the shine it claims is a semi gloss .

      @@ericmaass3459 thanks for the input. I have heard people saying that one pack definitely can not handle a 2.5 garage. So I guess for my 390 sqft garage. I need to buy 2 kits then? Also was there a sealant on your floor? You mentioned you did not diamond grind it. I assume the surface is like a bare concretely? I was wondering since you had a imperfect result maybe because there was a sealant on it and you just etched it instead of grinding so maybe the epoxy didn’t adhere with the floor very well?

    • @ericmaass3459
      @ericmaass3459 Před 2 lety

      @@frankisme7792 Frank ,
      Yes I would definitely buy 2 kits . You can always bring one of the kits back . Nothing worse than being 3/4 ways through doing your floor and running short . Oh and buy extra chips too . My 2.5 stall measures 25X25 or 625 sq ft . Each kit covers 250 sq ft X 3 kits = 750 sq ft . So I thought I'd be safe having 125 sq ft to spare , nope just barely. I'm sure it doesn't matter , but the kits I bought off of FB were the old style kits in the cans . The new style kits are bagged , however square footage is square footage . As far as the concrete goes , its fairly new , I'd say within 12 years . Its just plain concrete , no sealer . Surprisingly only a few stains from a lawn mower was about it . Thats why I didn't diamond grind it . After pressure washing , acid etch and a final wipe down with acetone , It passed the white rag test . The issue isn't spots where the oil spots were , those are fine , its tire lift /peel , and I just drive in and back out in a straight line . I'd be afraid of what would happen if I turn my wheels while at a standstill . I wouldn't be upset if a few spots lifted here and there a few years down the road , but its lifting a few weeks after I did it . Rustoleums clear I applied as a topcoat , wherever the tires sit , turns the clearcoat a yellowish tint . All in all I can't complain too much, I paid $75 for 3 floor kits , $80 for 2 cans of clear and $12 for a bag of extra chips . Still worth it if just for the fact its so much easier to clean. I wish Rustoleum would get their act together and offer a touch up kit for chips and peels , hard to believe they don't as popular as the epoxy coating kits are . So what is one suppose to do ? Buy a entire kit to do few touch up spots ?
