    Thanks Lisa (can I call you Lise too :-) )A good review for the likes of me, (beginner/intermediate level) I do have an original Golden Melody (C) It's OK but I found it more airy than my preferred Crossovers and also I'm not so keen on its clean, bright sound. No matter what I do to it, ie. flat sanded the comb, re-gapped the reeds, I can't seem to improve it. I probably won't buy the new one for fear of it being similar. Like you I have quite a few different models in my collection,but once I hit upon my favourite Crossovers, there's no going back.

      Yes. Same for me. I like to buy a few but I’m Rocket Amp all the way! This one really looks pretty I think. 🚀👩🏻

    Oh Lise! Oh Lise! I love Golden Melodies,
    But I tell you, I’m sceptical about these
    For they seem merely a money-making tease
    Of Hohner’s, rolling the dough of newbies
    On a thing unbroken they didn’t need to fix.
    Oh, how I ache! My heart has snapped like sticks
    For the “olden golden” was my penny mix,
    My sweet sugar-rush, my break-time twix!
    Now, though, I see an annoying divet
    Has ruined the wonderfully smooth cover plate
    Like a Heffalump had just stepped on it;
    Fashion’s feet trampling over my best mate…
    But the blow is softened by your review,
    By your insightful words, clearly thought through
    And your love of harp in all that you do.
    I might just give the new golden a go (or two…)

    Ma'am you are the reason I am interested in a Rocket.🚀
    You are so much easier to watch than big name players. It becomes didactive and I cannot keep track of everything being told to me and it becomes frustrating. This one though is so exciting to listen to your tone which is fantastic by the way.
    Thanks for sharing your excitement, I cannot wait checking your other videos.

    Hey, RocketGirl! I love Rachel and it is good to see her on the cover of those new generation GMs. By an interesting coincidence, I seem to have found one of the last older generation GMs in A here in the States (that was under $132US, or 106 British pounds) as any other Key (my A was almost impossible to find) is now $100US (80 British pounds). There is a huge harmonica dealer here in San Diego, California, RockinRonsMusic, that does a custom build on GMs with an Andrew Zajac comb, which I just love. I will have him customize my A. Now, I have a total set in all the Keys. The new generation GMs are impossible to get here, with a backorder date of maybe June or July, so you are very fortunate. I like that finger notch they built-in. I think all of us, your fans, would love a review when you have had a chance to play it more. How does it compare to the older generation GMs? Cheers from the States!

    • @rocketgirllise
      @rocketgirllise  Před rokem +1

      Hey. Thankyou. I didn’t realise they were so hard to get in the States. All keys are on offer here. I can do a better review later but to be honest I’m a Rocket Amp girl all the way so my old GM and new one are just collectibles to me. For occasional use.
      I didn’t know I had ‘fans’ 😁😆😆😆

      @@rocketgirllise Of course you have fans! I get together with a group of four others--we call ourselves "The GeekHarpStars"--who are just learning how to play, and we watch your videos and try to figure out how you play something; same with Monsoon Mal and others that we watch. It's great fun!
      We all have Hohner Rocket Amps and, in addition, the men in our group (me included) have beards and were constantly getting our beard hairs yanked out by the Seydels that we had (never had a problem with a Rocket Amp), so we have switched to Yonberg Typhoon Titaniums, which are super light, super fast, and we can't get our beard hairs yanked out. BUT, for doing bends, nothing is as easy as a Hohner Rocket Amp, with the exception of the very expensive Arkia Signatures that just came out. Your videos are of great educational value to us and we love to watch! Thanks so much, Lise! Cheers from the States!

    Thanks for the review Lisa, I was looking for one in A, but they are not available in the States until June the last time I checked. Tell me is the mouth piece the same as the original Golden melody?

    • @rocketgirllise
      @rocketgirllise  Před rokem +2

      Thanks. No it’s not the same. It slopes back from the mouthpiece at a more sever gradient. I try to show the 2 together in the video so you can see it. To me it’s better as I found the GM too tall as I say in the video - like a triple decker sandwich.

    Nice review
    Two questions
    1- have you demoed the rocket low cause I can’t find it on your page… curious to what you make of it
    2- what key harmonica would you recommend for jazz?

    • @rocketgirllise
      @rocketgirllise  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi. No. I haven’t demoed anything else but I’m Rocketgirl and love those rockets. 🚀 highly recommend and have the Low in D F and C. Fantastic.
      I don’t play jazz only blues.

    Hey there Rocket Girl , hope your well & life is good.
    I have the old Golden Melody, very nice harp. This new one is beautiful.
    Quick question ❓ do you tongue block or pucker ? I'm thinking your a tongue blocker , after hearing your "octave split".....am I correct ?
    If so , do you have any link's or teachers online that I can check out ?
    Take care & keep on harping 🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵👍👍😁

      Hi. Thanks. I actually pucker but I add techniques like octave splits and slaps where they sound good. I am going to TB more and try to be like Ronnie Shellist and Adam Gussow who are hybrid players. Listen to their videos and Ronnies classes.

    • @JokerJim23

      @@rocketgirllise I will & thanks.
      I pucker but iv'e been dabbling with tb as I think more run's & feeling can be achieved with it.
      Though I'm no expert for sure . Thanks again, have a nice evening 🎼🎶🎵👍😁

    Hello. Please answer, is the new Honer Golden Melody Progressive harmonica made in China? She has air loss. Are bends and overbends easy to take when playing the new Golden Melody?

      @@rocketgirllise you can improve it by closing the gaps on the reeds but you will need special screw driver to take the cover plates off, be careful the reeds or very fragile.
