DoorDash Pizza Delivery Guy Upset Over $5 Tip

- A DoorDash pizza delivery driver had some choice words for a Texas customer about the amount she tipped him. The delivery guy hands over the pizza and told Lacey Purciful, "I just wanna say, it's a nice house for a $5 tip." Etiquette expert Thomas Farley says you should be tipping anywhere from 10% to 15% for delivery. The total cost of her order of breadsticks and a medium pizza was $22.78. That means the five dollars she gave the delivery guy comes out to a 22% percent tip.

A $5 tip after driving all the way delivery it is a insult.
@@Trust291And how much would u have tipped?
@@PP_Derrick100 dollars for a 20 dollar order 😂?
@@Trust291 oh bless your heart! $5 tip for the amount of the order was just fine!
DoorDash shields those drivers from the horrible reviews they should be receiving. They're turning into Amazon by stonewalling all the negative reviews and only letting the positive ones through. Throwing your delivery on the wrong doorstep and running isn't exactly a tip-worthy task.
There's no point in having reviews if they're only allowed to say nice things.
Plenty of frauds out there who don't mind abusing the review system for handouts..
Nearly every single order says "leave at my door". What else should they do, bang on it?
@@Thunder_Dome45 Does it say, "leave it at the WRONG door", wiseass?

I use to deliver for Uber Eats and I was always grateful for my tips. However, I always politely turned down tips that were $1.50. But never was I rude or ungrateful.
I'll take the $5 if you don't want it.
Went to go pick up take out from a local restaurant and when it came time to pay the default tip was set to 25% (~$11). 25% for me to pick it up myself. All they did was just put it in a bag. Freaking ridiculous.
And you didn't leave it there?! No way I would allow them to inadvertently charge me an additional 25%.
This is not a large party eating in ticket and I know how to tip, thank you very much!💯
They should be ashamed!😑
@@chelabuford7106 I did end up changing it down to $2 that time. Still felt pressured to tip even though they hardly did anything.
I never understood why people use these apps for pickup. You're paying them for you to go get your food yourself. Makes zero sense.
WTF, why would she tip more than $5 for a $22 order? What was he expecting, a $100 tip just because she has a nice house? I don't tip doordash shyt or if I do, they would lucky AF to get $5 when my order was just $22. Not her fault his job is wack!
CEO of DoorDash probably owns a $50 million mansion and he pays his employees crappy wages. He should be getting mad at the business not the customer.
To anyone who's experienced with dashing, the tip also factors into how far away the restaurant is from the house. He could have drove 15 miles for a 5 dollar tip + 2 dollar base pay which isn't worth all the gas imo.
Well, can he see how far it is before accepting to order? If not he should rethink about working for doordash. If he can see the distance then he is gambling that he will get a good tip. Tipping is not a guarantee, don’t get mad if you get less than you expected. They didn’t promise him $100 tip then changed to $5 after they got the order.
Feels like nowadays im just tipping so they dont add any 'special sauce' to my food
As a delivery driver. I wouldn’t think to ever do this. Wow 😮
I'm always amazed how these people can be so rude and entitled towards customers, but NEVER towards their employer, in this case DoorDash. "It's a nice job for a $2.17/hour salary".
right . I gave up food delivery years ago its not worth it.
that just sound illegal lol
Last year you could easily make $20-$35 an hour during dinner rush. But people stopped tipping.
You HONESTLY think these people havent complained to the employer? Well youd be technically correct, because the support staff arent your employer, they just work for the sameShitty company. Same with the people who probably dont ever look at the complaint emails they get. Just like the politicians that the groups trying to unionize go to for support... The customer is the only person in this chain where you have ANY chance of getting paid more for this service.
@@HavokBWR So, in essence, you're gonna emotionally harass the customer until he forks up a tip that works for you. Because the person who employs you is not paying you a decent wage. Sounds legit.
Bro wants his own house paid for, after delivering a pizza😂
DoorDash shouldn't ever show the driver how much the tip is until the end of the shift.
I looked forward to getting $5 tip when I was a pizza delivery driver. This is absurd.
Of course you did, because that was bonus cash. For gig apps, it's simple overhead. They'd lose money without sufficient tips.
Do you dd?
@@jonathansabinvarietyfilmsyou shouldn't work somewhere that charges you to do so 🤣🤣🤣
@@rich2583 nah you just decline those orders & take the reasonable ones. Unlike employees we can do that.
@jonathansabinvarietyfilms yes you have the power to continue to be poor.
I could have sworn that the concept of tipping was when you go above and beyond your job duties.
I don't get tipped not one penny at my job and I go above and beyond often.
The concept of tipping supplementing salaries is asinine and breeds this kind of behavior(entitlement).
We're at the point where you go to a drive through and they ask how much of a tip you'd like to leave. We've just started to eat home a whole lot more.
@@TheMosinCrate Totally ridiculous. I just left out of a state that rolls their gratuities into their prices.
I got an. Ice cream cone and was forced to pay 18% more.
You’re right!
Preach! 💯
I know!! I do not understand that!
Heard of a decline button?
Would have told him. Yeah I have a nice house. I don't door dash like you😂
I’m glad tipping is not a thing where I’m from. Seems cumbersome and inviting unnecessary confrontation.

As someone who used to work as a pizza delivery driver, a $5 tip on one order would have been great. Usually people would tell me to keep the change which would be less than a dollar. 4 hours on a Friday night would normally get me $20 in tips, but this was also back in the early 2000s
The tip he got wasn't cash, so he gets taxed for it. Plus, doordash doesn't withhold for taxes.
Did you get paid minimum wage from the pizza shop. Or did you get $3 for every order they sent you on that take anywhere from 15-45 minutes, and get nothing while you wait on new orders to come in?
Did he want a fifty percent tip?
Bum ain't worth five dollars...
You shouldn't be tipping at all unless I'm sitting in a restaurant. This mess is ridiculous. Pay these folks a livable wage and stop making us pick up the tab.
Exactly!
Why pay tip in restaurants...?
Isn't service charge included in meal.. Learn it from japan
Truly the companies putting customer in this position and at their private residence is actually the real story in all this...we should blame the gross company now getting paid for a service they do nothing to any of it but middle man and take a percentage..so dudes really fighting corporate monsters who set the game in their favor ..not customer or employees favor.. just profit ...
@@rahulbaba470 well this is America not Japan learn something from America

What that guy uncalled for. His big mistake was accepting the offer. As an eats driver, I'm very grateful for all my tips.
Tipping started as a fancy way to bribe a waiter so you'll get your order first. How did humanity came the point where you have to pay a tip (as she said herself "i did the *right* thing", like it's wrong not to) for any waiter/delivery is beyond me, but it's dumb.
I'm a server. The tip was fine. The guy is a jerk.
Sick of people like him. Complaining about no to little tips-y’all DON’T HAVE TO work those types of jobs.
Then who else go do it? Somebody has to do the job. If you can’t tip correctly then don’t use the service. Take into consideration all the driver has to do to get your food. And 20pct on short orders isn’t acceptable. 20 percent also is overcharging on big orders because they take the same amount of effort. A flat tip of 10 regardless of how much the bill is should be appropriate
Take it easy he has 2 jobs... 1 is doordash and the 2nd is probably collecting checks while sitting on his ass at his place
