Sony A7R V review: Awesome images, improved video, unbeatable autofocus

- Sony’s 61-megapixel A7R V is a technological tour de force, featuring most of the company’s industry-leading tech. It has the best articulating screen on the market, the best autofocus system I’ve ever seen, and much improved video at up to 8K internally. The only leftover from the A7R IV is the 61-megapixel sensor, which delivers roughly the same beautiful images as before. The only real drawback is rolling shutter that can mar video or photos taken in electronic shutter mode.

I love how definitive Steve is in his opinion. I'd love to hear that confidence more often!
I picked up this camera about a month ago. Replacing the A7R3 that I used for 4 years. The r series of cameras for Sony have always been about high resolution. That is portraits, landscapes, events etc. When it comes to color I have not had a lot of issues with that on prior Sony models. I usually just spent whatever time I needed you to make the proper adjustments and post and I had no issue. Often that is mostly dependent on the kind of light that you shoot Even with the A7R5 if you shoot under light that has a yellow tint to it it is going to show up in the skin color. In addition to that I have had more problems with portraits when I used lenses that gave off unflattering tones on the skin. While some people have playing about the cost, One thing that you have to remember is that you're going to use these cameras for multiple years That's if you're not like some CZcamsrs or photographers who change systems every time the wind blows in. Most of us are going to buy a camera and use it over several years before we even consider purchasing a new one. That is certainly been my case. I usually wait 4 years before I replace a camera. And I buy the camera that is appropriate for my needs.
Thank you for the video - and for saving me a lot of money.
Couldn't help but notice the fly chill'n on the Canon R6ii at the beginning of the video with the sensor fully exposed.
Good review. I particularly agree that Sony needs to come out with an "auto" mode for the AF like the Canon. It's disappointing they don't have that mode.
One aspect many people don't realize or comment about is the much improved Auto WB enhanced with the AI chip. Sure you can fix WB in post with RAW but it cuts down on workflow time. Even better if you want to use SOOC JPEG. No longer get skintone/tint issues of prior Sony cameras.
Awesome
Is it weather sealed ?
I watch your video without exception.
It's impressive in low light shots and even in skin tones in white but I wish you tried on darker tones. Like you said on the video, it's good but not great for vlogging which is a bummer or movement but for a landscape or portrait camera, that's not very a issue. Also the 4k or 8k is not enough in dynamic range for me or the crop dosent make sense
Should I switch from my A1? I mainly do portraiture but I would miss the 1/400 flash sync speed. Comes in useful sometimes when outdoors
A7RV has superior IBIS, subject detection and 4-axis LCD. Most of those aren't particularly important for portraits. Don't see a reason to switch away from A1. Wait for A1 II which should be coming out in 1-2yrs.
The only thing that would immediately be noticeable, is probably the AutoFocus system, which is probably much better. Other than that... Not sure the A1 has many other features that this camera is missing.
Fly 👀
Why some poeple say mark IV is better than mark V
When you're finished please send it to me .

😂😂
@@kenduejones sounds positive
@@lifesahobby definitely does 😂
Give me
Impressive camera for the price of a decent older used car.. ya don't say 😅
Its for professionals or rich.
Almost like you're not the target group.
Car do 1 thing, point A to point B. Camera do many things, record, pictures, sound, autofocus etc keep memory. Camera value much better then shitty old car. Walking better
@@KindOfLittleSalty usually the value of a camera is also much more stable. A comparison between a car and a camera for its use case is still weird.
Why did I read this in Scotty Kilmers voice 😂
At 2:25 you're incorrect about requiring CFA cards for 8K video, the 7R5 will happy shoot to V60 SDXC at full 400mbps (you don't need a V90 card for 8K. These are relatively inexpensive cards.
At 2:38 It doesn't use the A1 battery, it uses the same battery as the previous 7R4, A7S3, A1, A92 etc.
I stopped watching after this point as I came here for more information, not misinformation.
damn, R5 have over heating issues? I guess he never did the review for the R5 after firmware updates lol. People are saying its far better now. Also R6m2 8K specs are better than this one? From what Ive seen in other review, Sony focusing system is falling short against Canon but beat Nikon.
R6 mk2 doesnt do 8k?
The only camera that has autofocus comparable to this is the r6mk2, the others just cant compete
239,999.00 pesos.. maygadddd @_@
where r Awesome images ????
This or Leica q3….
Wouldn't say unbeatable autofocus you still haven't tested the Panasonic S5 Mark II
I wouldnt call that a review sorry but kind of useless.
