- Today we're back on home turf, albeit briefly, and we're paying a visit to Celia's Kitchen in Prestwich to do battle with their so far unconquered Man Vs Food Challenge...
Diners get half an hour in which to sink three big dogs, four cheeseburgers, two pounds of chips, a bowl of spicy chicken thigh, four fried chicken goujons, a giant tomato and a big bowl of coleslaw. If you're successful, the meal is on the house, if not...it's an eye watering £60!

Agree. "BS challenges" should be boycotted. Hoping the bare wall of fame is due to people figuring out this is a rigged contest. Unreasonable amount of food, too little time, and inflated price.
The mighty beard could easily finish this in time. He spent a lot of time bantering with the folks.

He spent one minute just pouring ketchup...
They cheated and used baguettes instead of hot dog buns. They usually have the buns. They did it to mess him up. It was deceptive and cheating. Beard would have finished it with the proper hotdog buns.
Beard always has some banter with the staff, and the quantity of food was relatively small. The only reason Beard lost was those thick, tough, crusty baguettes they used as "hot dog buns". Too much chewing for involved for the 30 min limit. May as well have served him up a pair of shoes to eat.
This, I would call an unfair challenge with that timeframe. I’ve got to respect Mr Beard who did extremely well as usual. Ridiculous challenge.

Beard is a an unbelievable eater and he’s also an entertainer. If he focussed 100% on just eating on this one he probably would’ve done it, but his charisma is just too strong sometimes!

Everytime he stopped to talk, I wanted to yell at him through my phone.
Those potatoes were too many I knew he could lose when I see how many potatoes they put there.
Gotta give you credit buddy. Most of the professional eaters won’t show the video if they lose. It makes you more exciting to watch knowing that you’re human and fail once in awhile. You have the best food challenges videos. 👍

Hey Beard. My mum and I used to send eachother your videos every week, I got her completely obsessed with your content & we had plans to go and see a couple of the places you visited. She passed away on Mother’s Day this year from a sudden brain aneurysm at just 45. I haven’t been able to watch your videos for a few months but catching up with what I’ve missed on this rainy Sunday has made me feel weirdly comforted and close to her again. So thank you. These videos have to help these businesses out a ton. An audience of over 3 million people seeing a small family owned restaurant could be life changing for these people, huge respect for what you do and the way you do it. Love the content, keep it coming brother!

That was an insane challenge. I don’t blame you for failing. If there were a few less fries or not the chicken then it’s more reasonable but that was seriously a punishing challenge designed to make people fail.
I don't often comment, but I just wanted to say that even though you didn't beat this challenge, I am humbled by how much of a good sport you are. If you had 5 more minutes, you would have nailed it! Well done Adam.

It's weird when you're on top of your game 24/7...it feels kinda nice to lose once or twice sometimes...it makes you feel alive and that you're not all that because you're always learning...like I say it feels weird but rather refreshing in the same light...it is a strange feeling but also a good one 😀👍

Correct. And that's what killed this run. You need to basically dunk those in water or else the fluff will dry up your mouth and the crust will tire your jaw. (Source: I have bad teeth but really like baguette)

Beard has the best personality of all the eating vloggers, watching someone just eat is weird. But Adam has a way of making it feel less weird lol

I'm late to this one - I've only been watching for about a month but I am watching at least 3 or 4 a day. :)
I think those non-hotdog buns were a killer. They are hard to find, but in the US you can get long hot dog buns if you look a bit.
I mostly wanted to comment on the tomato. You've been to the States a lot, Adam. Surely you've seen a larger toe-may-toe! We grow 'em big here. We grow 'em big enough that you have to cut the slices in pieces to fit them on a slice of regular white bread. (A tomato sandwich on regular white bread with Hellmann's Mayonnaise and salt and pepper is just about the best thing in life - it's what makes the summer heat and humidity bearable!!)

Especially the chewy breads. I hate chewy breads. It artificially adds time to the challenge because it's so hard to chew and makes your jaw exhausted.
They should have let Beard finish the meal, posted his time on the wall...it would have been the closest anyone will ever come to beating this challenge.

I'm not the first person to say this and I know you've heard it before but there's something about you, Beard, that brings a little light to our lives. It sounds ridiculous perhaps. Seeing as you're eating food on tape, but your personality and your weekly uploads into our lives really does make my day brighter. Appreciate what you do and enjoy it more than you know!

I've only participated (and won) twice in such events, beating only two challenges I have seen in my city, in the same place (they went out of business next week after it I think). Both times I was prepping with everything I find, chewing blocks of gum, chugging water, eating while standing etc. One time I set record for their franchise, very nice 1.5 kg burger for 12 minutes, and the other one was scummy 2 kg hot dog challenge for 2 persons, with horrible mix of every sauce and almost ALL WEIGHT BEING BREAD, I ended up eating my partners half as well so we don't lose. Seeing mr. Beard eating all that bread in the middle of the challenge triggered flashbacks for me, it's like nuclear warhead with water you drink being the launch codes

I never understood that until I eventually went through a phase. For like 6+ months I just didn't feel like eating. Nothing appealed to me. And chewing seemed like a chore. heh. I was very depressed though.

Best way to describe those tomatoes to Americans is to say "softball size." Softball plays exactly like baseball but the ball is larger and squishy, and it's pitched to the batter underhanded and slower. Though some "pro" softball pitchers and really throw those balls like a cannon.

The Timeframe is tough but Manageable but they definetly planned on making the Challenge as Hard as possible with their choice of Bread xD Brioche and those soft chewy Breadrolls are a nightmare to A.) Eat fast and B.) eat alot of. The Mountain of Chips is just the final nail in the coffin :P Very good effort and you definetly would have had it with less Banter inbetween bites hehe
i think sometimes these challenges haven't been beaten is because they just aren't possible, and are created with no research & blind inspiration by restuarants jumping on the hype of eating challenges. when a true professional can't do it, you have to assume the challenge has been designed poorly
I agree with you to a degree. But i also think Beard had an off day and was still reeling from the last challenge which took him to his limit.
Disagree. Adam gave it his professional eye and decided it was possible otherwise he wouldn't have even attempted it. Sure, there are challenges out there that are genuinely impossible and I don't expect to see one on this channel for that reason.
I think this was designed to look possible, then they hit you with 3 french sticks and a kilo of dry chips.

My favorite part is that Beard is eating with one hand and still grabbing his drinks with the hand absolutely caked in ketchup.
I have a feeling that every now and then, you run across a restaurant that intentionally sets the bar too high, so people will try it and then have to pay. It's even impossible for competitive eaters to complete. The amount of chips that there was, was entirely too much, and that's where they got you.
Instead of hot dog rolls, not one, not two, but THREE entire baguettes. That's absolutely mental, especially when you then have to move onto the mountain of fries. Not sure they really want anyone to finish this challenge (though I think the Beard has it in him).
So, so, so much dry, hard chewing - my jaw was hurting just watching.

I don't like when food challenges abuse starches, like tons of bread & fries. Those are the things that make some challenges impossible.

What I love about your channel so much is that you're entertaining. I've seen some impressive eating feats on CZcams but none of them keep me quite as engaged as you do. Like they said, you'll just have to go back and try again. You're a legend, win or lose. Cheers.
Most important thing is telling a short little story around the act of trying a food challenge if you ask me. Once you’ve seen Joey chestnut eat 70 hot dogs in ten minutes, anything else is irrelevant really…so it’s not my job to impress people by eating, just to entertain as best I can with what limited talent I have 😂❤
Mayo on hotdogs is really common in America. Little Mayo, little mustard. I prefer to line the buns with cream cheese, then mustard on top. Delish.
Beard needs to make beard towels with his face n logo on them and sell them as merch.
