One of the tiny least tops of this certain year that I find interesting. In a bunch of others Austria is below the 10th place which makes me wonder if people have gone really crazy...

Thanks for the 2nd place. Was by far on the top 10, bit as usually those times, we were underrated. My top 5 would be: 1. Áustria; 2. Turkye (I really found it very very good); 3. The Uk ; 4. Finland; 5. PORTUGAL

    A short comment:
We agree on the winner, that UK shouldn't be top 5, that Belgium, Israel,Cyprus and Portugal were underrated, that Italy and Finland were overrated, that Denmark was a bit too ordonary too end up getting a medal...... In fact back then I didn't like Greece all too much, but after listening too it now and then I find it very good..... I like it. One of my favourites that year is Portugal, glad to see it second! I wouldn't acutually put Italy last, at least not alone. I would had put Turkey together with them. When we are talking about the Turkish chours, I've got the feeling of being inside of a poultry farm!!! My country Norway, we ended 17th. Poor Britt-Synnøve. Some means she was underrated, some means she was overrated. I hoped for a top 10, because the lyrics are good, and so is the message..... I agree on Israel they should had a better outcome, but I don't agree on Yugoslavia ending 15, a bit rough treatment, certainly not a winning song, but a top 10 at least. If I could had free «ticket» to change two places here on your list, I would had done it with Uk and Yugoslavia..... I don't have any opinions on the rest of your list. Spain and Luxembourg Ok, so is Germany..... Sweden is also Ok. Well Switzerland is underrated on your list. I love country. And I find it exsiting with a song in a language that hasn't been represented before, or later for that matter. I like the song, so it would had ended top 10 on my list. Well, that was a short comment from Norway!

    22. So which one is the chainsaw and which one is the seagull? ;)
    21. Suppose I'm the only one who likes it then :/ (although I hated it at first)
    20. Actually it isn't bad enough for 0 imo
    19. Sucks (also she looks a bit like Wendy from that film Mysterious Skin)
    18. So bad it's good
    17. I actually really like it even though I generally don't like children singing
    16. Hillarious!
    15. You've summed up my thoughts exactly
    14. Ugh, possibly my least favourite in the whole 80s :P
    13. Nice but so overrated
    12. Ditto
    11. Not bad
    10. Bores me to tears
    9. How the hell did we do so well every year before 1999?
    8. So great...so underrated :(
    7. No doubt this is in my top 3 best Swedish entries (all of which come from the 80s)
    6. Good chorus, whole song doesn't impress me though
    5. Good voice but, again, I'm not impressed
    4. Both of her entries are growing on me
    3. It is a really cute song, agree
    2. YES.
    1. Admittedly I adore both of his entries...p.s. how do you think this compares to Venedig Im Regen?

9 - you sang in English, that was major advantage back then, still I personally think that language rule should come back since almost everyone singing in English takes something away from the contest
1 - Venice in rain is very poor compared to nur ein lied

      9. Agree, it's pretty worrying when out of 36 countries I can count the number of those singing fully in their own language on one hand. Still I think we should send a song in Welsh or something. Y'know, pull a France 1996.
      1. Personally I prefer his 1991 entry, and I really don't know why :/

jdjj22 Everyone sings in English appart from UK who sing in their own languae. Well, there are some exceptions. The Balkan - countries sing in their own languae the most part of the time, but..... it doesn't seem to help. Portugal too.

You know it can't be "top" if you include all the songs - it's a chart.

    • @jdjj22
      @jdjj22  Před 9 lety

I understand your point but I think it's a standard practice here in youtube to call these videos "top" instead of a chart and at least for me that's logical since after all the songs are in someone's personal top order ;)
