- This video showcases the Sonic Adventure 2 Conversion Mod for Sonic Adventure. Believe it or not this game is Sonic Adventure DX on Steam! There's a ton of new mechanics, along with City Escape, Metal Harbor, Final Rush, and the Chao Gardens. I also used the Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic's model and animations by MainMemory for a more authentic experience.

I'm not the biggest fan of this title theme, but for once this is like wow holy crap this isn't sonic adventure 2 lol. As a speedrunner of SA1 and SA2, this was a really strange experience which I enjoyed xD. I been saying for awhile now I'd like to see a remake of both SA1 and 2 as the same game, I think this video only proves further this could actually be done without them feeling that different. Also I couldn't get the SA2 sonic to work correctly in the chao gardens so I had to switch it back to the normal SADX model.

Is Sonic faster in SA1 or SA2?
@@juliocervantes751 objectively sa1, if you port over stages from heroes or such you will be able to tell SA1 clears the stages much faster. sa2 sonic is more fluid in my opinion though.

Okay two things about this video stick out to me.
One, I've played Sa2 like 20+ times by now and not seeing gun robots, planes, not hearing the normal sounds, etc. keeps throwing me off.
And two that poor camera just cannot keep up. Great video man.

Sa1's momentum, Spindash and Physics are unmatched by any other game.
I’m mainly impressed grinding is now in SADX.

If you use the physics swap mod with this it becomes SCARILY similar to actual SA2, just lacking refinement and the camera files
Is there one that swaps SA1’s physics into SA2? I think that might genuinely make it a good game for me

this mod is legitimately amazing
What gets me is the added feature like grind rails and poll flips. That's insane levels of programing to pull off
The whole conversion is cool and all but with the modded models too it gets to a point where you might as well play the actual sonic adventure 2
well the physics are different that's the main takeaway. even that is not that far off though. lol
You can also play vanilla sadx stages with the hud, abilities and scoring system of sa2 if you disable sa2 stages in the configuration, and that's cool. Oh and you can play with sadx mods that aren't on sa2, it's fun. ^^
@@kell2185 Yeah I actually been playing around with other mods in these stages already. xD it is pretty cool since SA1 has alot of unique character mods. I didn't even think about ranking in the normal stages! Nice work again on this mod Kell. :p
It's a really cool mod but the camera is really bad (it's my general problem with SA1 only amplified here). It sucks both of my nuts. Usually in most Sonic games it sucks just one of them. This SA2 conversion mod managed to go the extra mile and suck both of them and it's doing a thorough cancer screening while doing it...
lmao it sucks just one got me. Yeah the camera really is the biggest thing here, just like SA1, and since it's moving around more than ever it really is off-putting.
Idk I like being able to control the camera . I've always hated sa2 camera that has a set path or changes as soon as you move
@@CMC6996 Problem is the camera on the right stick in SA1 is always inverted and I hate using the triggers for camera movement
@@MariusUrucu I never minded but I'm an old fart and got used to it playing on the dreamcast which only has a left analog stick. 🤣 if you've never played dreamcast versions i recommend them if anything, to see the original version of the game
@@MariusUrucu Also, I picked up the 1998 Japanese release and it has minor differences than any other version/port. Even the 1999 North American release. The Cutting room floor has all of the changes documented i belive. Pretty neat stuff

That Spring at 8:33 is kind of a pain though. It won't let me get to the rail. Lol.

That rail in particular. I just can't seem to reach it no matter what I do.
@@Kuzamer Oh yeah, the spring isn't powerful enough to make it, we are working on patch which contains a fix for this (and few extra stuff). I'm hoping to release it today or later next week.
So it's SA2's levels and some mechanics (Chao key box containing animals+grinding on rails+mystic melody) with SA1's speed and overall feel with the controls? Doesn't sound too bad at all. It's a little clunky but it's a lot more appealing and ambitious than most mods I've seen

Pretty cool. Sonic games have a lot of cool mods recently, my favorite so far is being able to select any character for a stage in sa2 without any issues. I wish it had the dreamcast conversion.
They converted Final Rush so accurately it still has that stupid spring that puts you on the rail backwards.
It's amazing that they can add rail grinding in this game
Rail waiting in final rush looked so seamless here! In SA2 I was always scared of ruining A rank runs by switching rails for lives lol
The camera not working the same as SA2 is the biggest thing that made it obvious. The turns in the board segment and the ramps were the most obvious, and the rails too. Still awesome to see.

There already is an old SRB2 version of SA2. All of Sonic's stages. You just can't use that wad on the new version, you have to have an older version

it's part of the mod you can add it in the configuration menu. Idk how the mod creators did that though. xD
@@sonicovertime Very late answer, but this is code, we can inject custom code to SADX and do pretty much everything we want, including adding new move like bounce.
Are you able to still access sa1 stages or does this completely override? I think a mod that fuses the 2 completely would have potential
you can still access the normal stages in the configuration of the mod.
It's funny how this mod is better then SAD 2 itself it looks fasters, the controls looks more freely and have cooler camera angles when grinding

Big's wasn't my all time favorite playthrough to do, but he grew on me, and I got the hang of his Fishing stages, its all the technique and upgrades lol. =')
Gotta like his theme song though, besides Big isn't dumb, he's just a bit oblivious at times.

Use the Sonic Adventure 1 sound effects for Sonic spin jump and also no voice audio whenever he does a spin jump or jump dash. US SA 1 Sonic due to spindash appearance (higher detail, doesnt look hexagonal)
I still have yet to beat this game.
Wish it had multiplayer in the story, just do split-screen, it'll work with a mod.
Game isn't that hard, the bio-lizard is cheap bullshit though. I hate that part everytime

My favorite feature of this mod is that you can finally play City Escape with Knuckles and not-sluggish Tails... and actually complete the level!

Sonic Overtime that works
I love SA1's unchained momentum physics. Really if three mods were implemented this game would be amazing.
1: physics rebase. The current engine is buggy, and thus momentum is inconsistent, necessitating scripting. Why not change that?
2: SRB2 spindash. Do I need to explain this? It would be a godsend to be able to activate rolling mode when moving without stopping and charging a spindash, and if the the spindash needed to be charged it would introduce more risk/reward factors into the gameplay.
3: Unscript. With the other two fixes modded in, the level design can safely be changed to accommodate fluid gameplay. At least effort, this would entail dash-pad removal, and at best a complete level redesign in some cases to accommodate this change.
SA2's level design works very well with momentum physics, and would require very little change, especially in the case of City Escape; that only requires a small downward slope before the one loop. If these three prospective mods worked in tandem with this one, we'd have perhaps the best 3D Sonic to date.

I'm not kidding when I say this, but if SA2 had spindash physics from SA1, it would probably be my fav Sonic game
The spin dash in SA1 is so broken, you can spam it to get some insane speed, not that it's a bad thing. I wish SA2 spin dash served more a purpose because most of the time I rarely use it.
So, which one is faster? SA1 Sonic or SA2 Sonic? Feel free to share your opinion and reasons why.
SA1 has faster top speeds. The thing with sonic adventure is sonic has more freedom to move around easier while running fast, while SA2 can make more precise movements while going slower. Also SA2's air movement feels miles better though (partly due to when you're in the air, you're moving at slower speeds). This is still really cool to see as SA1 did have some advantages over SA2 and vice versa.
