- More and more pubs around the country are opening their car parks for campers and van lifers. This is the coach and horse and they allow you to stay in you van on their property they even have camping facilities such as electric hookup. I also go paddle boarding in marathon.

What a great location. That pub could add another layer to their service - you pay in advance and in the morning they deliver a cooked breakfast to your van door!

There's a place up here in Scotland on the banks of Loch Long which does the same, plus it also has a mini shop and dies breakfasts in the car park too from a wee porter cabin
I used to live in Marazion and work in Helston and passed that pub hundreds of times, but never went in. I'll have to pay them a visit after seeing how friendly and decent they are 😊
And even though I live in Cornwall, I still love seeing these local places filmed so beautifully matey, great videos 👍

I heard Helston isn't the same I was based at Culdrose in the late 90's Helston I belive was the Blue Anchor was pretty good.

Hi there I was just saying to someone the other day that pubs are struggling and I think it would be excellent idea for pubs to have their carparks used for van lifers. They could open their doors early for breakfasts and this would encourage others to come at that time for food too in the mornings like white van drivers Pubs will have to adapt and if I had a pub I would gate off the area at night open with a code van lifers could get.from them prior and charge a small charge and lay on breakfast people could buy in the morning. I think it would work.

Great idea. Pub Camping is something I’ll be trying come spring when my new van renovation is complete .

Think you for presenting another superb blog these are very difficult times for people particularly with mental health issues which are increasing . I spend time trying to help others and I show them your videos and honest they really help you have a calm and enthusiastic manner and the scenery is breathtaking . It's so nice to see the pubs being so accommodating! I wish I could afford to visit the UK and go camping overnight at a pub. Sounds like sooooo much fun! what a great way to travel all over the country and enjoy the sights! Besides that, the meal looks delicious! I can't even imagine calling up an establishment here in the USA and having them leave the gate unlocked so I could gain access whenever I arrived. Now, that's what I call service! Do you have to worry about sharks in the water while you're snorkeling over here? It's really great of you to clear all the old fishing line out of the water. It's the second time I've seen you do that. I admire how you respect the water that way. I didn't think you were going to get changed in front of me, but you can't blame a girl for hoping! LMAO!!! 🤣 Thanks for the wonderful journey. I was so much fun!!
We don’t really get many sharks over here not big ones anyway so it’s fairly safe.

Hi just found your channel. Its great, really gave me some ideas & tips. To protect yourself use a dry powder fire extinguisher by spraying it into their face. It can't be classed as a "weapon" & won't really hurt them ... It works. We live in north Devon & have just bought a Transit to convert to a day camper to explore this beautiful area with our puppy ❤️😍👍

Great video as always Shaun brings me back to the time your mother and I went to Whitby (Yorkshire) to camp in our tent ,she said book ahead I said nahhh there will be loads of sites, we arrived 10pm and all sites were full and hotels too something was going on around the place, in desperation we went to have a meal in the Beehive pub on hearing of our dilemma the landlord said pitch your tent in my field behind carpark saving our skins as we couldn't sleep in the car as it was rammed with tents and equipment phewwww .

Nice vlog mate,we’ve been using pub stops for a good few years now but noticed that some are jumping on the bandwagon like the campsites and putting their prices up, even come across one that wanted £20.00 for the night so £8.00 was a good price, always worth checking to see how much they want especially if you’re going to eat there could end up an expensive evening 🥴

'Billy no mates table for one' made me laugh, that's the story of my life and i wouldn't have it any other way. And what a great move by this pub, bit of extra income and a great service for campers that like a few beers knowing they are safely parked on private land. Got to say mate bit jealous of you right now, got to get out a bit more. Banging video mate, all the best.
The problem is whenever I make a video and eat out in a pub or restaurant my wife watches the video and says I’ve then got to take her out 😂 my answer is and will always be “well you should’ve come camping with me then shouldn’t you 😂”

@@ppo2424 I think there is a difference between a pub car park which is publicly accessible and the private land with restricted access
Also for other locations if you can't access your keys you cannot drive so use a time lock safe.... I think there has to be a reasonable suspicion of the fact that you were going to possibly drive for the police to successfully prosecute
As long as you’re not caught in the driving seat with your keys no crime has been committed. You can sleep in the back of you car/van no problem.

My understanding is that it is a little more complicated than that along these lines.
The charge ‘drunk in charge of a motor vehicle’ requires that you intend to drive a vehicle while drunk. Being asleep isn’t a defence, being awake isn’t a requirement.
If you were in court they would consider what you were doing at the time, where you were, where the keys were, who else was there, and any other relevant evidence.
Although it’s not a Court you first have to convince, it would be a police officer. In either case, it would be best to consider if a reasonable (sober) person would believe you intended to sleep in your car until you were below the limit, or drive while over it.
At one extreme: a person in a camper van, in a specifically designed bed, in pyjamas, in a designated camping site, witnessed to apparently be asleep. The keys could be near, or even in, the ignition but most reasonable people would believe there was no intention to drive the vehicle.
At the other extreme: a person passed out in the driving seat while drunk. The keys could be in their pocket, or even dropped on the ground outside the vehicle, but most reasonable people would think the intention was to drive.
It may also be relevant what your blood alcohol level was at the time. For example, if it was very high, the prosecution could bring in an expert to argue that even by morning you would still be over the limit.
there is no law saying you are allowed to sleep in your car - that’s not really how laws work in the UK - but really it’s quite easy to work out if you can sleep in your car, unless you’re drunk
If the police can reasonably suspect that you were going to drive they will arrest you and try to prostitute.
Being over the limit out of the driver's seat with the keys out of the ignition could still find you being arrested for drunk in charge of a vehicle

Great vid mate!!! A bit of advice.... extend your paddle more, handle 4"-5" above your head, you wont have to bend down so much to bury the paddle and will find standing much easier ;-)

The wife and I went to the coach and horses a few weeks ago whilst staying in St Hilary we found the service and the food spot on. I also had a rump which was cooked exactly as I requested and very tender and juicy. There's a cut of meat for every taste, personally I like rib eye or rump as I like the fat content. Fillet is too dry for me unless encased in pastry Wellington style. Love your content 👌🏻

Great vlog in the fact that you can camp at the pub and the partake of the pub facilities like food and drinks if u like which I realise you did but then to pay an extra £8 for the privilege doesn’t really inspire me to do what you did if they adopted the continental aire de repose scheme I wud be more willing to support the pub but I guess they have to diversify is their reasoning for charging for the overnight fee but still a good vlog and hopefully a few more like this

Somewhere in another van channel ( probably John and Mandy) there was an app you could get that lists all the pubs that will do this.

there is an offence called "Drunk in charge of a vehicle" If you have paid to stay at a camp sight you have some evidence you were not intending to drive but if you are wild camping in a layby for example and you have a few drinks you are entering dodgy ground

As long as they don’t catch you drunk in the drivers seat with your keys in your hand there’s no law broken. Else anyone on ca camping holiday in a tent or van frunk with there keys on them would be breaking the law.

Maybe not necessarily pubs, but there's a thing over here called Harvest Host that allows dry campers to stay at different places like farms, vineyards, golf courses and places like that... It's pretty cool from what I've seen but we haven't done it yet... Fortunately I have Kristi as a navigator because I've got your navigation skills... hahaha God bless, buddy...

Hmmm, I wonder if there are any pubs here in the US allow overnight camping. That’s pretty cool.
I have heard horror stories of people being in there car or vans in a pub car park. If you have the keys on you, the police can prosecute for being in charge of a vehicle under the influence. If you can leave the keys inside the pub, you would be beter protected? But you would have it have easy access to your keys in the morning?
There just not enough police to police it though 🤷🏼♂️
