That one foam cutout with the clamps and the two planes is a work of art.
You are so organize, this makes a person work more efficient. Very nice video.
Love how tidy the system is
and I really like the passion you put in your van building!!
Nice tour. I rarely do on- site work and it is a chore to decide/pack the tools I might need. One observation. I started with 3” wheels. A few problems with uneven concrete seams. Went with 4” wheels for next set of carts - solved problem. Also, went with 4 locking casters (roll and swivel) so I could always lock the appropriate pair on a sloping surface. Thanks for the tour and the video.
Great video. AN EFFICIENCY idea for you. Take all your sandpaper out of its packaging and put it in a portable file folder brief case. They look like a bellows. You can tab for the grits and carry all your grits in one folder making it portable and fast to reference the grits.
I actually used to have that exact thing but I literally only use 120 onsite so that is all I carry.
💡anybody got an old cd holder case they can try this with?
You have the nicest van set up I've ever seen. Very nice job. Thanks for the ideas
I finally got sober from your last pack out video. For sure gonna have the pack out bug again. RIP debt card😭
Your packout dolly is great much better then the on Milwaukee offers.
You never cease to amaze me! Thanks for sharing!🙌
I built my own rendition of your packout cart. Planning to make a second to have a second stack. Absolutely love it. I have an idea to do 2 stacks even height then do a small version of the polk bench on too to then turn it into a rolling work bench on the job
I made the same custom dolly, works great so far. Thanks for the tip!
I agree...awesome setup. Appreciate all your knowledge/advice!
Excellent design. One of the best work Vans I’ve seen. Brilliant 👍
Great idea with the ramp bolt! I like how you incorporated the two wheel cart with the Packout base. Also like the fact that the casters for the Packout base may sit in the valleys of the corrugated steel in the floor along with the caster brake for some additional security when the vehicle is in motion.
Wicked nice custom platforms and your foam cutting/stacking tool skills are amazing.
Awesome setup! The custom dolly platform is especially slick.
Sweet setup! Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Subbed sweeeeet stuff man always love to learn new ideas. Very Very helpful stuff. Thank you for sharing!!!🎉😊
Woooow. What a fantastic idea with the packout worktop. You can screw pretty much anything to that and make it packout compatible. That's an insanely good idea
Hi from Easton Maryland Spencer! Thank you to share with us all that knowledge and practical ideas. For those pain in a brain caps to fall down you can put a piece of Velcro on tap and back. Thales care and stay safe.
I always enjoy the organisation videos - helps give me some ideas and sometimes I even act on them 😂
Once more , great organisation tips. Thanks
Love the set up. I’m using a similar set for kitchen installs
I made 2 of the custom dolly’s and they work well. Thank you for the the information!
Wow I was looking ideas for buil a bunk beds for my kids and I end watching 2 of ur videos buddy!!! I love the van idea!!! U the Man!!!
One more subscriber here!!!
Spencer awesome organization friend! I am super impressed. Doing a bath reno right now and see the need for a pack out system, even as a diy-er.
Wow many great ideas!!!
Great set up
The dolly system is genius. I’ve been wanting a pack out with a drawered bottom box but this solves all my problems. I’m not the most skilled carpenter. Would love a diy video on this.
This is the video he did when he made it. Not really a tutorial but gives more detail
Your setup is making me drool 🤤
Still love your dolly mount/ wheeled base combo. Milwaukee should give you 400k and mass produce these and scrap their $300 bespoke hand truck
Best pack out setup ever.
Got that trailer set up well. I really like the 4 wheel dolly set up. Very clever.
Oops… van. 😁
Very Helpful. Thank you. I've been considering Packout vs FlexStack but the one handed seems suited for the setup you have.
Sweet rig man
Awesome video, thanks.
Nice setup
Unbelievable van spencer. 👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🇮🇪
I need a bigger truck! Nice setup.
I’ve been following your journey with your Packout/ van / storage organization set up. I love the new hand truck and custom dollys that you have built to make max use of the drawers. Very well thought out. Perhaps Milwaukee ought to modify their Packout hand truck to incorporate some of those beefier features,
(4 wheels, more rigid structure, greater weight capacity at 600lbs, and dare I say it, lower price point at $150?!?) Keep up the great work and the innovative thinking. I myself am lobbying for 2 single drawer options; one from the current drawer shell, and one the size of the XL Packout box.
: ____ )
I live in Milwaukee and my wife bought me some Milwaukee Packouts but they didn't look anything like yours. Mine were just cardboard boxes with a note that said PACK up your crap and get OUT!!! :-)
I guessed she did that because you insist on being called Jennifer. Apologies for assuming gender.
Yes, this is a common byproduct of spending too much on packouts
nice 😂
Finish Carpentry TV uses the Milwaukee ammo cans for caulk storage. You can store the tubes upright. Fits 2 full cases so that's a lot lol
I agree
For $70/can, ...think I'll just stick with my good old-fashioned and free diary milk crates.
How about a “ free” clean joint comp bucket ? Works very well.
@@iwasabigdeel7895 yeah I hear ya. Spend your money elsewhere.
@@iwasabigdeel7895 whichever works for ya. All depends on each persons storage situation. I use those seat storage organizers due to the space in my truck. He has a systainer for a first aide kit. I can just image what that costs. Works for him. I have some electrical tape in my glove box as my first aide.
consider putting your saw onto a pac out base too, U can put a 1/2" ply sheet on the bottom of the saw, then put pac out made feet onto the bottom of the plywood, attach the pac out base to the saw rail clamps, then U can lift off and on the saw, U can also the use saw on the your pacout stacks. if u have other "power tools" grider, planer, router table drill press, U can use all these in a same way mount them to plywood, and add pacout feet, for fast interchangeability. this is someone else's thoughts design, part way through the dolly tanks.
*Welcome Back*
Dude you rock 🤘
Great review , I've been looking at the drawer units that will be great on the access to tools. I still got my old Rigid toolbox setup, they've proven durable and seem to be functional. I guess I'm cheap and waiting for Rigid to make a drawer unit. I find the Rigid more simple in stacking , and unstacking to go up and down stairs.
Yes Ridgid needs to out with drawers asap. Wink Wink RIDGID
I am looking to buy a drawer-type rolling toolbox system. I just watched a video on CZcams where a Milwaukee 2-drawer unit was converted into a single drawer. I will modify mine as a bottom box and cut the top drawer and attach it to the bottom drawer to make it a single large Drawer! Great CZcams videos on helping us get through the work day. Thanks always for All your videos! So well presented!
Very nice
Brilliant
super dank!
I do like the dolly idea!!!! Just need something for levels
My packout system I just have the standard 3 case packout that I always bring in with me and another one will drawers and a crate on top. Screws and fasteners in the drawers and depending on what I’m doing the crate I have one for kitchen install, one for trimming and one for flooring.
Several companies make level mounts for the standard Milwaukee tower. Just little pieces that clamp to the aluminum bumper rail things. Just have to remove the level before removing boxes but means you can carry them into and out of the job site.
I will have a look
Thanks!!
u can get add on to the packout systems that hold levels, not milwaukie but attaches
for the silicone cartridges you could build yourself a dispenser like those for canned food, and hang it on the doors
time for an xl box for the track saws
Love these videos. I bought into packout to try and be more organised and efficient - something I struggle with !
After seeing this video a year ago I finally tried to copy your custom dolly. Like you I have 3 inch castors but the sack truck I use , which looks pretty standard in design when it comes to the platform , it doesn’t line up very well with the slot. Do you lift it up to line it with the slot on the dolly? Mine looks like it needs 1 inch castors … curious for a close up on how you seem to use it with ease
I’d like to see a video on the updates to the power tower, should be able to show the details in a 2 minute video
😁😁
Great video as usual!!
It's still working great. I'm a little concerned about the vibration caused by the air compressor at the base.
I’m curious how you worked the Milwaukee plates on. I’m also curious about how you routed power ( it looks like power in at the crate on top, microwave up thru the bottom of the crate- yes, rewatched original vid)Do you have a special route for the compressor power, how do you remember to plug and unplug it? What compressor, size n cfm, did you step up to?
Thanks again for your videos!!
Great set-up. I appreciate the overview of your packouts. I didn’t see any Milwaukee chargers. Do you use Dewalt batteries with your Milwaukee tools?
Excellent time for this video because it's raining cats and dogs here in SC. I call it thinking time.
Where did you find the locking mount plates for the microwave and the air compressor? Great set up!
I'm holding out for Dewalt Toughbox 3.0
I've been waiting for Dewalt to come out with something for a few years..It don't seem to be happening... I love Dewalt, but just started my packout system
You can get custom 3d printed bins for the 3 drawers ...
What casters did you end up going with? It looks like in your other video the wheels were black- did you switch them out for a different brand/style/size? I think your on to something here with the caster base/hand truck setup. I’m seriously considering going this direction for mobile tool storage. It just makes a lot of sense. Once you go down the storage rabbit hole- it pretty much drops you right here -
- Drawers
- Large box on top
- Maybe throw in a crate
- On casters
- Hand truck for leaving the shop
- Ramp for the rig
Thanks for posting Spencer! Very helpful stuff 🤘
What casters did you end up going with?
Wondering what kaizen insert you are using for the two drawer packout. Specifically the drawer you have the clam clamps in.
Love the van and layout - but I do have to ask - Have you thought about an electric golf cart with Packout modules to accommodate clubs, beer cooler and a club washer?
That's a great idea!
Can’t wait to find the drawer units . Everywhere is sold out .
Looks like they've all been purchased and delivered to some finish carpenter in Indiana. Jeesh!
Plenty of 3 drawers in my local Home Depot in Georgia. No 2 drawers that I’ve found though
I'm not buying anymore pack out unless it's drawers. The rest is a hassle except my large one with the wheels and dolly handle.
... the commodity can be expensive, your commodity is extravagant, good for your that your have clients how pays for that
I went with the rigid system because the pack out was not readily available when i transitioned from random boxes to a system approach. I think with the new drawer boxes I can justify the switch to Milwaukee ARGGGGG $$$$$$$$
Same!
It is nice to have, but it will hurt cost wise, the 3 drawer unit costs more than the whole Ridgid 3 box starter kit!
Hey... love the new into there!!
How does your TSC still fit in the box with the blade dropped, doesn’t the blade then cause it to stand taller if it’s dropped out of the bottom?
I don't know how to explain it. It just works.
@@InsiderCarpentry lol, that’s good enough for me.
I was thinking about buying a label maker for labeling my packout but I guess tape works well too.
Anal-rentive much?
Sharpie works fine if you change your mind lacquer thinner takes it off
@@iwasabigdeel7895 yes
@@tommurphy6058 But I want it to look nice
@InsiderCarpentry
What wheels have you found to be the best at not scratching up finished floors?
Off topic question but in reality how often do you use your pin nailers? I’m a trim carpenter and haven’t yet found a use for one yet. A future video on uses for one would be amazing!
I’m a custom interior shutter installer, and I use mine on almost every install I do. The pin nails will hold a shutter frame while I get the margins adjusted, and then I can lock it in with trim screws once it’s adjusted. Since the pins are so small, I don’t have to worry about touching up anything after the fact. I could probably get away with brads as well, but those would definitely leave a bigger hole.
Pin nailers are great when you’re doing glue ups . Especially gluing your “returns” easier than holding them in place til they set
What’s the casters in the rear ? The front are locking 3” . Do you have a link as didn’t see in favorites
Can those bottom mount plates be attached to a different packout system, say for instance Husky, and than the Husky box could be attach to the Milwaukee?
Soooo JEALOUS! Hey, what make/model of air compressor did you buy? Is that an Mi-T-M?
Its a rol air twin tank. Not sure on model number
How did you affix the tall shelving to the van walls so it all doesn't topple?
Great video as always. What are your thoughts on cordless air compressors? I'm trying to decide between DeWalt, Milwaukee, Metabo or Ridgid.
I'd just use cordless nailers. No point to a compressor now that the milwaukee pin nailer is available.
Go cordless guns. Cordless compressors are just flat out stupid.
@jami w My main consideration right now is affordability, I can't really afford to replace all my guns with cordless. I plan on doing it in the future though; down the line.
@@blisspop6193 for blowing out drilled concrete holes?
Couple questions regarding the power tower (I guess Tower of Power has already been taken): looks like you are only plugging one cord into power on punch out days...what kind of splitter do you have to connect everything in the tower? Also, what compressor did you switch to?
Rolair twin tank. Its just a computer style splitter that I got off amazon. I tried to find the highest rated one I could.
the same@@InsiderCarpentry Good choice for a compressor, I've been using a single tank Rolair for 31 years and it's never failed me.
What are the plywood measurements for for the dolly
Nvm, saw your nailer review video.
Spencer, Curious what compressor you bought to replace the old one. I’m in the same boat. Most tools are cordless but just a few need air.
I'm currently running a rol air twin tank. I wanted something bigger so that I wouldn't have to run a surge tank.
Can’t go wrong with a Rolair JC 10 plus for trim. I also use Rolair AB5 plus for small jobs.
@@InsiderCarpentry
Its tough, I'm so close at total cordless nailers
What thickness foam do you use?
Milwaukee needs to follow you so they can get ideas? It's a nice efficient tool storage system?
They do watch my videos and have been in contact with me. It's good to see that they care and are watching how we use their tools.
I think all they would need to do is create that caster base for the hand truck,. It's nice to have the hand truck free to do other work with. Also it would be nice to have big enough drawers for maybe saws and larger tools.
How do you feel about the new dewalt tools compared to milwaukee? I was set on dewalt till recently. Old dewalt tools, hands down.. But milwaukee is making some cool new stuff
P.S. love that idea for a slot in the dolly base so the castors don't have to be extra wide!
Milwaukee definitely is leading in cordless tech currently.
Imagine if they made a single drawer unit.
Who’s hand truck has the blade that sits 4” off the ground if you lean it forward too far? I’m confused.
What do you run for your air compressor? I'm thinking about upgrading.
I'm currently running a rol air twin tank.
Look into a Rolair JC 10 plus. Quite, light weight and perfect for trim carpenter.
The Hitachi/Metabo EC28M is terrific for trim...and slow framing.
Have you tried the packout caster platform that Milwaukee makes?
It is too wide for how I wanted to use it in my van.
Quick inquiry. I carry approximately the same amount of equipment. Do you have any idea how much added weight over the bare curb weight of your van alone ?
I don't. I weighted it at one point but can't remember anymore.
This dude is hella extra!
Got some questions on that dolly if you have time
Hi Spencer, I noticed your first aid kit attached to your festool systainer system. Is that from Festool? I certainly enjoy watching your videos!
No I bought i got it online somewhere.
Granted packout is great quality and function. But so is dewalt, rigid and craftsman. Packout seems to me like a great marketing campaign for the Milwaukee company. Very flashy advertisements on their tool storage system . Don't get me wrong, I appreciate Milwaukee tools. I own several and some are great. But lately Milwaukee seems to be focusing more on capitalizing on their fanbase and less on making quality and affordable tools.
I haven't personally had any issues with quality, but I feel you on the affordable part. These packouts, in my opinion, are the best tool storage (by a small margin), but they are way overpriced, yet I still buy them.
is your microwave powered by the dewalt battery bank?
I'm not getting anymore boxes, draws only from now on.
I think Milwaukee stole your idea with your custom dolly I would talk to a lawyer
Hey this is awesome. I’m sure it’s here somewhere but does anyone know a link to this hand-truck.
Home Depot sells them online
Where do you get the foam inserts to do the cut outs?
kaizen inserts. Google it.
@@InsiderCarpentry already done and ordered
Thanks bud.
Just curious, why no 16ga finish nailer?
It gets to be too many different nails to stock. I like 18 and 15.
why not put the track saw in festool systainer?
Because systainers aren't compatible with the Milwaukee pack out ?
And for me , my whole truck is systainers, I'm all set with them they're brittle, and I'm tired of replacing them along with broken parts
