I can't thank you enough for your candor and willing to teach others the craft. I have hoarded a bunch of stuff to sell but am hung up on photographing and shipping. Your videos have really helped me and I'm inspired to start listing this week! Consider me a huge fan!

Great information. In my new workspace, I will finally have a photo area that i can keep set up. I bought the large tent. I think it is 48". Dry erase markers seem to work well. I will have to keep some on hand. I log every item I bring home and then wash all the washable items with dish soap prior to putting them in my workspace. Baking soda with a little water may work on the bottom edge of the mug that is not glazed. Kepp the videos coming!!

Thank you, Margarete, all very helpful info. Just a little tip... to clean up the unglazed part of the bottom for mugs and other ceramic pieces, I use an emery board and lightly sand it... seems to really work on any stubborn stain or imperfection and it doesn't take much effort to keep a few in my box of cleaning products. (and they are much cheaper than sandpaper)

Margaret, FWIW, another seller who sells mugs more successfully than I do, critiqued me. She told me to take a closeup of the most interesting art of the mug for the 1st photo (not even showing the whole mug).... and then she crops the photo very closely, tighter so there's not so much margin around it. Just thought I'd pass her info on. She's got me doing the close cropping now. Makes it all much bigger looking. FWIW.......

I like to put my handle size as 3 finger handle or 4 finger handle. I remember my whole life my dad only wanting big handle mugs. I figure it's easier for someone to decide if they like the handle if they know how many fingers will fit in it.

I came across my Peter Rabbit mug hidden at the bacl of my cupboard a few days ago. I got it for my little Peter years ago. He's all grown up now and the mug has not worn as well but was well used and loved. Tis one of my keepsakes. Thank you for the memories. Nice channel and good vid.

Krud kutter is what I use for getting marks off most things. It works great on the bottom of mugs. And instead of using a marker just use alcohol. That's pretty much the difference between permanent markers and dry erase. It's the alcohol content. Sometimes youll find krud kutter in the paint section. It's great for getting oil and hair out of your bathtubs too. Washes straight down.

The Shell BAD guy mug was an incentive to Shell employees to submit an idea to save the company a BUCK A DAY (BAD) My brother worked there until he retired, an I worked at Hughes, which had a similar promotion in the late 70"s. I believe it was called "I had a BAD idea" .. but I cant remember that far back. LOL. I am from Houston, and I think I have seen you at one of the thrift stores out here, which I frequent all over town. Don't be alarmed if I go introduce myself. I am also in the International Thrifters as well. Love you videos. Adios Alfred

that seems like a lot of work for the profit margin. Do you calculate your time spent on each item. I was hoping to see some shortcuts to listing , since that's my least favorite thing to do because , no matter how hard i try, it always seems to be so time consuming. I'm no stranger to engaging in my own self-imposed slave labor , having sold online, Ebay, Etsy's, for 15 years. Etsy's definitely yields a higher profit margin for my crafts than clothing or drop shipped items did on Ebay.

I have a quick question. I sold a Far Side coffee mug on eBay and the buyer opened a case to return cause it was defective. Is there a way to test if the mug has hidden cracks could not see any when I bought it to resell? Or do you think when I shipped it it caused small fractures? The buyer said it arrived in the condition as I described but when he put coffee it it started leaking. I really enjoy selling mugs but don’t want to have deal with this issue again. And should I accept returns on mugs?
