Most people I know who are heavily tattooed have a tattoo from when they just turned 18 that they don’t like anymore. One person even said to me, “it’s fine, though, because at least it’s in a place where it’s not always visible.” A tattoo artist could easily just take the money and do what they’re told. But it’s completely understandable that they might not want to tattoo a teenager’s face for their first tattoo. Because they’ve been there before.
Why would he even AGREE to give an 18 year old such a huge FACE tattoo?? That right there is just ridiculous. I would think/hope most artists would refuse. It's one thing if it's an older, fully matured person who already has tattoos. An 18 year old who, I have to imagine, likely had few or no tattoos prior, is not ready for that choice. I'm so glad I was broke at that age, no telling what I would have asked for 😅 the one I got at 17 I had covered up at 26 because I realized how dumb it was.
That said, my neck tattoo(behind ear) I definitely could have fallen asleep during if it had been bigger/taken more time. It's the only one I've gotten that was legitimately painless, and felt more like a massage 😅 I did close my eyes and felt like I was going to nod off but it was small so only took maybe 10 minutes lol. Not sure a face tattoo would be as relaxing, though 🤔
If kids are mature enough to decide to eat hormones and cut off body parts, 18yo's are definitely more than old enough to decide what they want to do with their bodies.
I'm from Belgium and was a small kid in 2009. The story of the girl who accidentally got her face tattooed full of stars and had to laser remove them was like a myth that kids told each other. I never knew it was based on a real story!
The girl was only 16 years old she begged her father to get the tattoos he gave consent and he was there with her in the room aware of everything the tattoo artist was doing to his daughter's face this was done to teach her a lesson some people should never be parents😢

I don't have so much of a problem with the tattooist tattooing the stars, but putting your name right across someone's face is another thing! I remember also reading at the time that there was an ex-girlfriend whose face he had also tattooed his name on (not the whole face - above the eyebrow). To me it just seems like a really creepy thing to do - signing your name on someone's face is literally putting your identity on top of theirs. No one can look at them without seeing you(r name). It gives me the icks!
It's quite common to have a partner's name tattoo on your face. Weird that you assume the woman didn't ask for it. And the guy's face is completely covered in tattoos and piercings, so he clearly doesn't see facial tattoos as a big deal.

I highly suspect that the young lady has "buyer's remorse". She wanted stars on her face, she saw the template applied on her face, she took a break and saw the progress of the stars and of course, saw them when finished. I suspect friends and family were appalled when they saw her tattooed face and this is why she claims to be "innocent" of what happened by falling asleep (bullshit) rather than admitting she requested it.

Honestly I trust artists that refuse to do the work a little more. Like they are the professionals who know better and I respect them turning down money to keep someone from making a life altering mistake. I also wonder if ANY other artist would do more work on her in the future I would be scared

I remember when this was all over the news as a child, and I do believe it was her first tattoo. it was even the tattooer's defense, saying that there was no way that somebody who was getting their first tattoo would fall asleep especially being tattooed on the face. plus 3 stars wouldn't really leave you enough time to fall asleep that being said, that does put the tattoo artist in a worse light for me tbh. I had never heard that she had come forward and admitted to lying, but the fact that you would see an 18 year old with 0 tattoos and immediately agree to do that kind tattoo seems kind of irresponsible to me
a tattoo artist can refuse to tattoo someone's face or hands if they aren't heavily tattooed, that's not illegal. they can refuse service for anyone. it's only illegal if you're discriminating against someone because of their membership in a protected class.@@otigerlily

I’m not super experienced (1 tattoo only, albeit a very unsubtle one), but I hear about ‘the rule’ of no face/neck/hands tattoos (jobstoppers?) unless being heavily tattooed, no face tattoos under (insert age way above the legal age here), unless you have a solid career that won’t be harmed by it, and so on. And also tattoos getting refused, simply because the artist isn’t feeling it.

Even if she asked for the face tattoo, an 18 year old with no other tattoos is not in the right place to make that decision. It’s irresponsible to put a face tattoo on someone that young IMO. Written consent is the first thing that came to my mind. And if I was an a tattoo artist I would make it detailed. What it is, approximate size, placement on the body, ink colours, costs. If it was a first tattoo, make them wait a month.

So I do think its weird and seems like a way of feeling powerful and belittling her, but I just haven't seen proof of him pressuring her into it yet. I could be wrong tho and maybe he did? She better have apologized to that artist for slandering him in such an extreme way as a dishonest teenaged idiot. If a father's anger has conditioned her to make such desperate lies and accuse others of crimes just to redirect his anger, that can't have been a healthy parental relationship. My first tattoo I was actually pretty close to falling asleep lol My tattoo artist was very gentle and it didn't hurt too much for most of the 3 hours. However that was on my upper arm, not near my eyeballs so more reasonable LOL I actually had to make sure NOT to fall into a nap because it would've been a light sleep and I could've jolted awake and messed up the tattoo. I think what helps is it is a sort of dull ache, and it's a bit like when you are sore/sick you get comfortable somewhere and your body wants to sleep it off even though it's currently hurting a bit.
I feel like there is a huge difference between YOU wanting your partner's name tattooed, and YOUR PARTNER wanting you to get their name tattooed. Personally, I would never get theirs or ask my partner to get mine.
I’ve been through this 😂 my husband got my name tatted on him & I was against it. But he wanted too and so he did it. After he got it done, Tell me why he asked me to get his name tattooed on me?! I’m like “NO I don’t want too. I don’t want to tattoo anyone’s name on me unless it’s my kids.” He was so hurt. Lmfaoo Personally I think it’s stupid to tattoo a spouse’s name on you. I think stretch marks can create issues for tattoos but it really depends on how big and/or sensitive the scar. Getting tattooed over mine hurt more but it came out perfect. Could be an interesting video. But please have a skilled professional look at your scars if you want advice.
I gained weight and my first tattoo looked shaky (it was mostly lines) due to stretch marks. I talked to a tattoo artist I had a great experience with and so she added more shading and details, it didn’t hurt any different to other tattoos and looks absolutely amazing. She told me as long as the scar is healed (stretch marks are scars technically) if the person knows what they’re doing it’s absolutely feasible. Of course in my case it helped that she knew my skin and how it healed. (Inside of the arm if that matters). If you’re in Europe, I can tell you her name since she sometimes does guest spots.

I didn't believe it back then, I don't believe it now. Between someone falling asleep during a borderline eyeball tattoo, and a tattoo artist not being able to do baby artist's first tattoo, counting to three, the whole thing is still shady as hell.

2 years ago i was in a really dark place, i went as far as trying to unalive with a blade so to me pain was an escape and i fell asleep while getting tattooed. The studio where i go they always make you lie down so i was on my stomach, head on a comfy pillow and about 5 minutes in i was gone. The amazing artist messaged me the next day because he saw i was not doing great and he wanted to make sure i was okay 🖤

One time I fell asleep while getting my left cornea tattooed to say “live laugh love” and my tattoo artist took the opportunity to make me look like someone from the blue man group! There isn’t a single square millimeter of my skin that isn’t blue!! I went to a beautiful resort but I kept getting stepped on and crushed in the pool. They couldn’t see me I blended right in! My life is ruined!

So I never believed you could fall asleep during a tattoo but when I had a big piece done on my thigh I genuinely did nearly fall asleep and whenever I do a full day sitting I get sleepy. At the end of the day Kimberly made her own decision…but that being said, considering what he did to his now-wife immediately upon meeting her in person, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the tattoo artist had emphatically encouraged her to go through with it.
This is why my brother gave teens and younger adults "the talk" before agreeing to tattooing them, and he absolutely refused to do hands and faces on anyone who wasn't heavily tattooed already. Teen getting her face covered in stars and blaming the artists - clearly has lots of growing up to do still. No critical thinking skills whatsoever. Regarding the girlfriend getting his name on her face - extremely low self-esteem is all that comes to mind. As for the artist in question - dude needs to slow down and check his attitude. I'm no psychologist, but that are some narcissistic tendencies.
If u can’t sterile yourself at that age, I don’t see why you can get a face tattoo especially as she seemly doesn’t have any others. I’m surprised she didn’t just get outright refused. My local tattoo shop will not let you get any painful or very “visual” tattoos (face/neck/etc) as a first tattoo. A lot of people put up a fuss, but they are very firm on the rule.
I just got my first tattoo started and I love it! The artist did such a good job 😭 While I could lay down and get sleepy. There's no way I could have fallen asleep. When I got up at the end I felt super groggy like I woke up from a nap. The last 15 minutes were intense so I definitely couldn't have fallen asleep
0:45 at my last appt with my artist, she shared a video she took of a guy that she was doing a shin/calf tattoo on, and the guy was sleeping like a baby, haha... snoring gently, he was apparently a manual construction worker, just off a 12 hour work day and was totally exhausted, but didn't want to break the appt.

Am I right in thinking before this story, the tattoo artist did not make clients fill consent forms, read terms & conditions which also included ID ect… ? Because if all this was carried out beforehand, then legally it wouldn’t fall on him if all the correct forms were signed & filled. I’ve had to with every tattoo artist in the uk, and write down all my medications & allergies!

Even if she asked for the face tattoo, an 18 year old with no other tattoos is not in the right place to make that decision. It’s irresponsible to put a face tattoo on someone that young IMO. And his girlfriend? That also feels like a red flag. It’s good that she seems happy with it, but he shouldn’t have agreed to do that tattoo especially so early in the relationship.

Written consent is the first thing that came to my mind. And if I was an a tattoo artist I would make it detailed. What it is, approximate size, placement on the body, ink colours, costs. If it was a first tattoo, make them wait a month.

So I do think its weird and seems like a way of feeling powerful and belittling her, but I just haven't seen proof of him pressuring her into it yet. I could be wrong tho and maybe he did? My first tattoo I was actually pretty close to falling asleep lol My tattoo artist was very gentle and it didn't hurt too much for most of the 3 hours. However that was on my upper arm, not near my eyeballs so more reasonable LOL I actually had to make sure NOT to fall into a nap because it would've been a light sleep and I could've jolted awake and messed up the tattoo.
I think what helps is it is a sort of dull ache, and it's a bit like when you are sore/sick you get comfortable somewhere and your body wants to sleep it off even though it's currently hurting a bit.
I feel like there is a huge difference between YOU wanting your partner's name tattooed, and YOUR PARTNER wanting you to get their name tattooed.
Personally, I would never get theirs or ask my partner to get mine.
I’ve been through this 😂 my husband got my name tatted on him & I was against it. But he wanted too and so he did it. After he got it done, Tell me why he asked me to get his name tattooed on me?! I’m like “NO I don’t want too. I don’t want to tattoo anyone’s name on me unless it’s my kids.” He was so hurt. Lmfaoo Personally I think it’s stupid to tattoo a spouse’s name on you. I think stretch marks can create issues for tattoos but it really depends on how big and/or sensitive the scar. Getting tattooed over mine hurt more but it came out perfect. Could be an interesting video. But please have a skilled professional look at your scars if you want advice.

I gained weight and my first tattoo looked shaky (it was mostly lines) due to stretch marks. I talked to a tattoo artist I had a great experience with and so she added more shading and details, it didn’t hurt any different to other tattoos and looks absolutely amazing. She told me as long as the scar is healed (stretch marks are scars technically) if the person knows what they’re doing it’s absolutely feasible. Of course in my case it helped that she knew my skin and how it healed. (Inside of the arm if that matters). If you’re in Europe, I can tell you her name since she sometimes does guest spots.

I didn't believe it back then, I don't believe it now. Between someone falling asleep during a borderline eyeball tattoo, and a tattoo artist not being able to do baby artist's first tattoo, counting to three, the whole thing is still shady as hell.

2 years ago i was in a really dark place, i went as far as trying to unalive with a blade so to me pain was an escape and i fell asleep while getting tattooed. The studio where i go they always make you lie down so i was on my stomach, head on a comfy pillow and about 5 minutes in i was gone. The amazing artist messaged me the next day because he saw i was not doing great and he wanted to make sure i was okay 🖤

One time I fell asleep while getting my left cornea tattooed to say “live laugh love” and my tattoo artist took the opportunity to make me look like someone from the blue man group! So I never believed you could fall asleep during a tattoo but when I had a big piece done on my thigh I genuinely did nearly fall asleep and whenever I do a full day sitting I get sleepy. I think it’s my bodies way of dealing with the pain like it makes me super tired. Doubt you could fall asleep during a face tattoo though 😂

This is why my brother gave teens and younger adults "the talk" before agreeing to tattooing them, and he absolutely refused to do hands and faces on anyone who wasn't heavily tattooed already.

I’m surprised she didn’t just get outright refused. My local tattoo shop will not let you get any painful or very “visual” tattoos (face/neck/etc) as a first tattoo. A lot of people put up a fuss, but they are very firm on the rule.

While I could lay down and get sleepy. There's no way I could have fallen asleep. When I got up at the end I felt super groggy like I woke up from a nap. The last 15 minutes were intense so I definitely couldn't have fallen asleep
