LittleEggBoy here :im three years into the laser journey, I started when I was still using heroin, im two years off that now. I started making videos about my laser journey from the beginning and learned to turn on filtered comments. I get overwhelmed bc I get the same type of comments some of which are very mean. I ended up privating or deleting early videos bc it was just too hard to watch, I was obviously still using and I reminded myself too much of the dark times I had just left. im 26 and had been using heroin since I was a teenager on and off. the last few years got incredibly dark and brought me to rehab and trying to turn my life around. I appreciate immensely all of the support I have been getting lately. I turned off filtered comments last month after having them on for so long most of the trolls have been blocked or assume they will be. i appreciate everyones support here and the OP for spreading awareness. all love from me :) Thank you for the tact, wisdom and compassion you have shown

Drugs will cause you to make insane decisions and even if they represented who you were, they don't represent who you are now. That can happen in the absence of drug use. Everyone grows in time and we gain new perspectives on who we are and what we want to represent. It's ok to want to take back something that no longer represents who you are. Congrats on your sobriety 💪🏽

In Alyssa’s case, and people should understand this, her ex bf basically manipulated her into tattooing her face. She also used to be a drug addict and is now clean from drugs. I follow her on TikTok and she has always been very nice and replying to my comments. It’s honestly great to see her changing her life for the better.

She's not just having tattoo removal. She's BROADCASTING she's having it. As soon as you go public, you invite comments. You're not owed nice comments. How about she goes through her process, and doesn't post until it's done? She's a jailbird with bad tattoo's. Are we supposed to love her just because?

🍳 I do wonder if the reason behind people's cruelty is because Alyssa is an ex-convict/ex-drug addict. It's sad to put into words, but honestly, it's classism and pretty privilege. Alyssa's tattoos look cheap, which makes her look poor. Egg is a man with a pretty face and the relatively minimal style of the face tattoos makes him look editorial. Where Egg looks like a tattooed model, Alyssa looks like a delinquent. It's wild how much appearances change people's behaviour towards a person.

    • @DearestClaudio
      @DearestClaudio Před 6 měsíci +272

The fact that they're both removing their tattoos is irrelevant to the people commenting, because Egg is still gonna be a hot, white man with model-like features and Alyssa is still gonna be a recovering addict trying to turn her life around. Even without the tattoos, people view these two completely differently.

I was watching an Inked Magazine video where these tattoo artists talked about how they noticed a pattern of clients who get name/couple tattoos mainly being women- the men would either back out or just not get it at all. Then, it turned out that these women often were in abusive relationships and that this 'branding' in spirit of sorts was a hint to that dynamic. Of course, not everyone who gets couple tattoos are in toxic or abusive relationships, but often times this pattern is due to those women being essentially branded as property of their partner going back to misogynistic roots and so on. It's extremely terrifying, I of course knew about how couple tattoos get criticized- especially huge face tattoos- for often being a huge regret, but I didn't realize how it often mainly was something that affected women, and in particular female victims of abuse.

@@gwendofrendo id like to expand on this by pointing out the fact that a lot of people LOVE to see women make mistakes just to “put a woman in their place”, so seeing a woman make such a big mistake, especially one that hinders something society deems so valuable (a womans appearance), that they now heavily regret makes those people get that boost of knowing better than what to them is a “stupid woman who shouldve known better” since face tattoos on women are viewed as unattractive. if a woman goes against what a man deems as okay and desirable they will find any way to slam her for it. similar to their desire of punishing women for having sex by banning and shaming the use of having an abortion and the social construct of being a virgin and what that implies if a woman isnt one.

My partner got a chest tattoo of a unicorn when she was in the Air Force. It was a sign of freedom for her. But 20 years later, after kids and wanting a real career, she began to hate her tattoo and wanted it removed. Her ex-husband forbid her from removing it (one of the many reasons he's an EX). But when we began dating 10 years ago, I fully supported whatever she wanted. We went to a dermatologist that told her the colors of her tattoo couldn't be removed. So I researched it for awhile, and found a new laser (at the time) called a PICOSURE laser and there 4 in the whole state. Fortunately, one was close by. I went to all 7 or 8 treatments. I watched her cry from the pain. She did it slowly, often taking 4-6 months between treatments (They said the faster you want it gone, the more treatments it takes). After 3+ years, it's gone. She wears clothes now with confidence, instead of hiding her tattoo. It was an important transformation for her. It 100% changed her life.

@@MaterLacrymarum Its not even about forgiveness, that goes to show you weren't really listening to what was being said. It is about having some empathy and compassion, you don't need to understand a situation fully from a personal standpoint in order to have some empathy towards another person, but for some reason that is being lost a lot right now in society. You can look at someone in these positions, such as Alyssa and you might feel yourself being judgemental and saying. ''Oh god why would you do that? that doesn't look good? who would make such a choice?'' and its instead trying to change the narrative into empathy, and turn those thoughts into, ''I hope she's okay, I hope she's in a good place, I hope she gets the help she needs''.
You don't need to forgive someone's mistake, no but you can absolutely have a shred of empathy and make their life easier to live and navigate while they live with their mistakes and choices. The last thing that people like Alyssa need, is horrible comments, judgement and cruelty especially when she's already working towards trying to correct her 'mistake' and choice.
A lot of people ended up making those poor decisions in the first place because they were abused, misguided and treated poorly and they probably didn't realise that they did not deserve that and that they deserved kindness in their lives. When we offer kindness and empathy we are also helping these people self-realise what they deserve, and that can lead to better, more informed decisions because they will possess the strength to do so. Nobody is going to do anything good for themselves if they're continually put down with judgement and mean-spirit, they will just think they deserve the bad things and will never feel strong enough to feel otherwise.

I think there's a lot of factors in the discrepancy, I would think that in Alyssa's case there's probably a lot of bias and victim blaming for "moral failings" when it comes to her past addictions and abusive relationship in conjunction with misogynistic entitlement to the appearance of women's bodies. It also kinda blows my mind that ppl are being so cruel about the tattoo she's getting removed... Like clearly she's taking steps to remedy the situation and has an insane amount of guts to do it online. I do wonder how this would all be different if egg had the same of tattoo on his face as Alyssa? I do think he would have a more supportive response in that situation, personally.

We have become so entrenched in cancel culture and judgment that we forget the second arc of redemption. The whole purpose of judgment (not always a bad thing) is to push to redemption and improvement. I think for many, it’s easier to belittle someone doing the work because it makes them feel smaller for not making the changes they need to. They see it not as inspiration but a commentary on their failure. In this case, both have gotten clean, are in a better mind space and want to remove the reminders of what was to move forward. That should always be celebrated.

I am heavily tattoed myself and my artist and I became friends so we talk a lot. He is bodymodded to the max and so we came to the conclusion that it seems like there is a special type of people that choose this way of life, most of them very sensitive people that lived through trauma and got very hurt by the world we live in. and yes, I am one of them and he is too. So since we had this talk I started to recognize people around me with heavy ink or bodymods more and felt an instant connection to them. like we actually are the outcasted ones, but not because we are bad people, but we can't and don't want to fit in anymore into this "normal" society because we can't put our pieces back together after we got shattered by it.

Genuine question; does anyone else think it might have something to do with classism? Because hers were 'stereotypically trashy'/poorly done/low quality. And his were a bit 'higher quality'. And he just Looks shiny and put together and a bit more expensive; perfect haircut as opposed to her growing out hair. She looks more like a real person, mess and all, he looks like an Ideal. They're about the same level of intrinsically pretty, but one is more polished while the other is not. I don't know, I just felt sort of like people were treating him as Worth More than her? Maybe male vs female standards were part of it, but I think it might have been some form of classism too. Especially since social media is soooooo focused on class/money as a point of defining personal value, and treat poorer/'lower class' people horribly😓

I’m sure there’s a lot of nuance that many people don’t realize are affecting how they view and respond to these situations with these respective people. I would say for sure classism plays a role, as does their circumstances. People here in the US at least don’t view addicts as people suffering, they view them as people using. She’s also been locked up so that’s another tick against her.
I would say her being an ex heroin addict plays a huge role along with her previous time in lock up. Her being a victim of abuse based on that preemptive knowledge of her addiction and law breaking tendencies I’m sure paints her as “someone who deserved to be abused for being a user and criminal.” They probably assume a plethora of things that make it easier to be mean to her and hate on her.
But most people doing this cruel commenting I’d say don’t even realize what’s affecting their opinion of her so it could be broader than that.
It’s complex to say the least.

They’re right about the regret that could be inevitable…. especially when becoming heavily tattooed during a traumatic time in life.
Here’s a story…. I’m 26. When I was 19 my mother shot and killed someone and was sent to prison (despite it being self defense at her home when a group showed up to harm her)
As a result I had to drop out of EMT school (had to take national registry exam and do clinical, was SO CLOSE to being done) due to losing my mom who was my child care for work and school. Was a single mom finding my way after an abusive relationship and attempted murder against me…. then my world was destroyed and I lost it all.
I ended up getting an apprenticeship after a year of becoming HEAVILY tattooed and addicted. From the smell of green soap to the pain to the atmosphere and the almost therapy it… nobody told me to slow down because of what was happening in my life.
Luckily I only had my face tattooed with UV ink so they’re barely scars.
I ended up marrying my tattoo artist turned boss (was a client for a year before I told HIM how I felt) and now stay at home with my son.
My mother will be released from prison this upcoming April.

Im guessing class and gender plays a role in who gets support and who gets dragged. I do think that it is very likely there will be heaps of people getting removals. Seeing how many folks at very young ages are getting face tattoos and other very visible ink. I have a lot of ink, and it's almost all easy to hide. Even if I didn't love my tattoos, at least I could always hide them away. I guess I have my age and culture of tattoos to thank for that. Tattoos were frowned upon mostly when I was growing up. So we were engrained to get them in discreet areas. While some of my tattoos are very large, they are easily hidden. But when I want to show them off, I am sad that I really can't show most of them :( ... oh well. Xinial gen problems.

I'm sure Alyssa got a lot of hate for getting the tattoos and having them for the whole time she was in a manipulative relationship, and all that negative feedback at first was helpful to realize what abusive situtuation she was in. However, it's so sad that when she gets out of the bad relationship, and tries to make right with the public's view of her, and erase permanent evidence of that person on her body, people still criticise her mid process of making it right. It's not night and day. The marks she made on herself representing the bad place she was in, do not reflect who she is now. It's not right to punish her today for who she was. Clearly she regrets it if she too agrees she doesn't want it on her. It will take months to years to right it. She knows it's wrong and looks bad, she's doing what she can to erase it. Leave it be.

I read an interesting article in a medical journal some years ago. I wish I could remember which one it was. The proposed theory was that excessive tattooing and body modifications were actually a form of self-harm, particularly in women. It fell under the same behavior as "cutting." However, tats and body mods were more accepted as a lifestyle choice or artistic expression. Facial tats/mods/piercings were considered to be the most extreme form of this disorder. The article postulated that if these people matured and/or found other ways to cope with their trauma/mental illnesses, they would try to cover up or have their tattoos removed.

I started at 28 and have no regrets, and am only getting more heavily tattooed! I also did all of the internal work first- went to therapy for a few years and healed from my past. I think a lot of people think of aesthetic decisions as solutions for internal issues. At the end of the day, a tattoo is just a tattoo. A haircut is just a haircut. And when it's over and done with, you're still the person you were before you got it done. So if you were miserable before, you're gonna be miserable after. I think that's where a lot of regret nowadays comes from. People get many aesthetic changes done, and they're shocked to learn that they're still miserable inside after the initial dopamine rush wears off. Because they never addressed their actual issues. Just my two cents as someone who's seen a lot of traumatized kids turn to body mods and end up regretting them.

I remember I got my first tattoo at 17, I had to go of my own country for it as the minimum age in my country is 18+. I got it as one off whilst I was on holiday but then came back immediately after arriving home for more. I turned 18 only a weeks ago but my arms and shoulders are already completely covered with tats. I was 17, working part time but making a lot for a teenager and still lived at home so no commitments and rarely saw my parents so they didn’t even notice when I was out of the country for a day. I blew all my money on travel to this country and the tattoos. I’ll give myself some praise for always getting something that actually meant something to me and I really liked (I know many that don’t think about their tats) but still, I was mainly doing it because being in that chair with a needle repeatedly stabbing me felt so good. I don’t regret my tattoos, but I’m only 18. I’m terrified of getting to my 30s and really regretting them. I also don’t understand how tattoo addiction isn’t more talked about. By society but mainly tattoo artists. My tattoo artist knew I was traveling every other week from another country but didn’t question it and still tattooed me. My mother encouraged me to get my first one at 17. I got 4 tats (2 big pieces, 2 small) on my 18th birthday and nobody said ANYTHING. I was definitely suffering from another more talked about addiction at the same time too (*alcoholism*) and despite everyone knowing I was 17 and drunk nearly 24/7 nobody said anything, not even the adults tattooing me.
*EDIT:* I’m also covered in piercings, ears and face. I feel the same way about them. And I also do feel like other people’s responses to my face and body could of been drastically different, if I were a man. It’s always different for women. My male cousin could crash his car and be arrested and my family give him a stern look but nobody really cared because I got a face piercing on the same day and they are more concerned about calling me to scream at me for it (true story). And you can find out easily but I’m purposely not saying which country allows tattoos at 17.

I suspect there are 4 reasons Alyssa is getting more hate. Three of them are obvious… misogyny, the appearance of the tattoos, and her past criminal record and addiction.
The one that’s less obvious is that she still has some self esteem issues that subtly show through in her body language and speech patterns. And people often pick up on these subtle expressions subconsciously.
This emits a signal that attracts people who are also dealing with self-esteem issues who cope through externalizing their shame onto others and feeling superior to another person and her channel has attracted a lot of them in her audience.
It’s probably a lot better than it was before though as it seems like she’s done a lot of self-esteem work too. She’s just perhaps not quite out of the woods yet in terms of the more subtle expressions of that self-esteem issue.

I am in general, a very friendly and cheerful person (except if it is the morning), but I make an effort to let them know that they are welcome, valued and respected in my clinic. Its nice when I see them slowly feel safe with me.
I think Egg is getting more support because he is classically attractive and that attractiveness and charisma is visible with his face tattoos. I think it is a combo of pretty privilege and misogyny.

Also, maybe it’s because I had a horrible childhood that still at age 48 f’s with me, I never ask why anyone did something that I may find strange. People will tell you what they are comfortable telling you. The only people who know the extent of my abuse are the therapists who literally saved my life. It’s so crazy because looking at me you would never know I was abused as a kid because I present happy go lucky with a joke ready and smile. If I let you stay around me long enough you will notice I do not invite you to my home, ever. I finally have a home I can be safe in-I can’t risk anyone taking that away. I am better now emotionally and I don’t cut people out of my life at the earliest disappointment (as much-learning process). Their tatoos they had is what I had internally. I don’t know, I’m rambling.
I did get my first ever tattoos two years ago- in both of my inner wrists. They are based on my favorite lines from a Stephen King book (I read every single book of his when I was younger. My fave author). I now tell people when they ask, but I wish people would just admire or notice a tattoo and then wait to see if the person with the tattoo tells you what getting or erasing a tattoo means to them instead of asking. Sometimes you would rather drown than explain.
Ugh sorry for the long comment this video hit a spot I guess.

Let's be honest, there are worse mistakes a human can do than a face tattoo.
And I think it's good to have honest discussions about tattoo regret, its a thing that people feel and sometimes it is good to think before making those kind of BIG decisions especially ones that are very visible and hard to cover would you ever regret them.
But it's complicated at the end of the day. Just know, its okay to regret things and feel like you made a mistake. its okay to try and fix those mistakes if you are able to. We are all humans.

There's nothing wrong with waiting until you're 30+ to start your tattoo journey. Being tattoo'd young isn't always best. Looking back on it I wish I'd taken more time with design choices, placement and quality before I had some of mine. That being said, I don't regret being tattood but I never went to any extremes. I can see how someone with heavy tattoos at a young age might regret them because we change over time and that's normal.

i'm so glad there's CZcamsrs like you who sift through these kinds of vids..I don't want to ruin my algorithm lol..I'm in my 30's and am ready for my next 5-6 tattoos..none on my face but I work in the legal professionals industry and no one cares if you have tatts unless they're visible but there's plenty of people in traditional fields with tats.

I waited until I was 28 to get tattooed. I had taken time to focus on my health- physical and mental- and treat myself with kindness. I also stopped giving a fuck about what anyone else thinks of me, which is a big factor to consider when becoming heavily tattooed. I think there would be a lot less tattoo regret if people just waited. Plus, then you can get a better artist and your tattoos will come out better once you're more financially secure and mentally mature. Just my take as someone with no regret who's glad she waited.

And i know what my life holds now and know nothing I’m doing will affect my livelihood. Everything I’m doing has been heavily considered. I’m lucky i guess.

Still watching the video, but I’ll be curious to see how the laser tattoo market expands especially for POC. I am in the middle of a tattoo removal myself but bc of my skin color and the red ink, the best I can hope for is a cover-up. I’ve come to terms with my tattoo and I do love it now (lightening the black ink portions helped to make the tattoo visually better for me). Altho I still plan to keep at removal till all that’s left is the red, and then go for a cover up. But, it would be awesome to see if we could find the right *insert science* to figure out how to remove color tattoos on melanated skin without the consequences of trying to do so now.

I only have one tattoo and the only reason I personally regret it is because 1) my birthgiver pet me get it at 15 years old and 2) it was drawn on me by her ex and someone I don't trust/am no contact with and I wish my first tattoo could've been anything else by anyone else.
I'm hoping when I get the money I can hopefully get it covered or removed cuz I hate that every time I look at it I think of the two people I don't wanna think about ever again

As a very indecisive person this is why I don’t tattoo. I have nothing against it and wish I was inked but my thoughts/feelings change. So unless I’ve been thinking of the same thing for 5+ years. Probably not gonna do it, tattoo wise. Also the fact that I’m broke and the tattoo artist I would want to ink me are pricey or another country. So there’s that too.

I know you are such an understanding and empathetic person but the way the title of the video is my mind went straight to “wow look at what all these other people are regretting”. But it’s so much more than that. Everyone has a story and I already judged the video when I’m trying not o judge others 😅 anyway, I love how you are so understanding of people’s situation and see that someone’s we all make mistakes, especially in are darkest moments 🖤🖤

Most people wouldn't be getting face tattoos (or tattoos in general) if their influences weren't rappers/celebrities and TikTok influencers. It's sad what the industry has become the last 10-15 years. 🍳

    I think the case is . . .
People see Egg's tiktok and just go " OH another handsome guy, what's he doing " and they stay or they skip past it
But people see the dramatic and intense tattoos like Alyssa's and it unfortunately attracts more negative attention. Unfortunately it's low hanging fruit and easy to go for, for people who are just negative.

Ana's hot takes pissed me off so much. I heard "you will regret" every choice I made about my life, tattoos or otherwise did not matter I do not regret ANY of my tattoos there are some life choices I regret but overall I am satisfied with the choices I've made and how I have grown as a person as I learned and failed and kept trying. I think it's disgusting how misogynistic the internet is, if it's a woman wearing face tattoos they are just absolutely shit all over or asked repeatedly "why did you ruin your face" or other bullshit that is so objectifying and worthless. It's not called for- thank you for drawing attention to the hate and helping share Alyssa's story. It is heartbreaking but WELL DONE Alyssa YOU ARE SO STRONG holy shit. I can't believe she is still sharing the vlog of tattoo removal despite the hate - thank you for sharing, so much thank you

Watching the evolution of tattoos has been truly amazing… it went from a select few people having them, to everyone and their mama HAVING to have them…craving them..desperate for them. So many people have them now, it’s common. Basic. True definition of a social contagion at work. The removal shops will be busy for decades to come.
