You make my earfquake oh you make my earfquake. This movie is weird it feels like a nightmare before rip off clone but also like it had its own potential to be amazing. It’s one of those animated movies from everyone’s childhood that you very very vaguely remember but you just never sought out to rewatch again because there was no reason too. It wasn’t a good memory or a fascinating one it was just a memory, an itch that you couldn’t get rid of

I guess it would be the characters mostly people criticize them for being too common despite sticking out more so than MOST characters in animated films and such
Igor for example jormally in his case guys like him wish they were good looking and charming but not igor he never cared about changing his looks he DID have confidence in himself as a person he just needed to show he was smart enough to prove it but in the end it didint natter he just wanted to save someone he cared about
Scampers a suicidal rabbit and very many characters who EVER go into suicide in general but with his invincibility he plays it off as if dying a casual friday with him but by the end he finds life worth living and realizes hes got a family
Brains the typical idiot but occasionally he has the BIGGEST moments in the film like turning eva into an actress and slapping some common sense into igor hes not just there for the idiot role he has a place in the story UNLIKE MOST dumbass characters
Eva need i say more? Shes honestly true to herself the whole film but her positive personality and can do attitude influences all 3 into becoming better people
It might not look like for MOST people but they are fairly unique characters but they are DEFINITELY interesting
Heres an odd comparison joel and ellie from TLoU1 everyone says the stories unique but its not typical saving the world mumbo jumbo but its ellie AND joels relationship and how they learn to care and motivate eachother that makes the game so good

For a long time I would tell my parents "bring me back a toy" as a reference to this. Not to long after I forgot where the reference came from, but it became just a normal thing. I only found out where it came from about a year ago when I watched it again for old times sake.

Ehhhhh... not gonna lie? I personally think it looks fine. Hell, I'll admit it even looks pretty stylized (even if it does so by being a mimic of the Tim Burton style). It's a guilty pleasure, and I'd rather watch this than The Emoji Movie any day.

The music was great and the characters; even now after all these years from when I watched it as a kid, Scamper is still rememberable.
The rabbit that kept trying to kill itself
I think Nick's criticism of the movie as "good ideas bogged by bad execution" is pretty much spot-on. Few of the jokes that aren't about the rabit trying to kill himself land, the pacing is incredibly weird and uneven and the ending is just hokey as hell.

I think you completely missed the plot of Igor, it is about Igor falling in love with someone who doesn’t love him. The first song gives us the insight of what the album is and how much Tyler has changed from Bastard. The he slowly falls more and more in love with this person but realizes they don’t love him back and they end up getting back together with his ex after inviting both Igor and his ex to dinner. The second half of Igor is about how Igor deals with rejection and gets over the heartbreak. He ends up choosing that he wants to be friends with his former love interest and it ends with a interpretive ending where it’s very possible that the love interest may try to get back with Igor. Great story and I wish you wouldn’t have missed the mark that bad :/

this movie has been at the back of my head for years. it has haunted me ever since i watched when i was very young. i have no memory of anything but what the protagonist looks like. i’ve never seen anything about it after watching the movie and tbh i convinced myself it doesn’t exist.

@@curly_wyn ain't nothing to do with nosolgia. My kids watched this movie this year and it was the most loved film. It has a very well put together plot. It has very funny dark humor. The characters are all pretty well fleshed out and deep. The pop culture references are clever. Its like saying shrek is bad because he is ugly and the animation is ugly. Its a flawed argument. The art style is similar to time burton, but story wise it is its own film. Then again, its not even like time burton, I would never have made that comparison.

So, pretty much liked by nobody with a functioning brain.
When I saw this movie, I couldn't but wonder what was Scamper's story before he met Igor? Suddenly, I came up with a tragic backstory for him and why he's constantly wanting to unalive himself...
Scamper started as a beloved pet for the unplanned daughter of King Malbert. She loved him as much as he loved her. The two were inseparable... That is until they've gotten the news from the doctor, she doesn't have that long to live (thanks to King Malbert's weather machine), so she spends the rest of her life with Scamper. Despite the fact that she's keeping a brave face to not worry him, Scamper could tell that she was getting weaker and weaker. When she "got cold", Scamper couldn't imagine a world without her... so he played into busy traffic.
About a few (or so) years later, Igor dug Scamper up for a science experiment (which Scamper hated from the start). By the near end of the movie (where they learned more about the weather machine), Scamper had a change of heart when he electrocuted himself while dismantling it. For a brief moment, Scamper was reunited with his owner/best friend who had an important message for him:
"Thank you for being there in my life. Now, go and enjoy yours...."
Then, he woke up all singed. Brain (as always) was confused about this due to Scamper's immortality.

Far from perfect but atleast it has heart ambition and takes risks in having a dark theme. The characters are good and the climax is done well
I saw Igor again not too long ago and I think it still holds up. Sure it's not pretty but that's kind of the point. It's an ugly world where evil is celebrated and kindness is bad, it really highlights Eva's inner beauty as the only kind sweet person in that world.

This movie will always be a childhood favorite.

I haven't seen that movie so sorry, but Igor Is my favorite hunchback
I remember re-watching this and being blown away that the main villains name is a huge pun that like no kid could ever get. He’s actually named Schadenfreude or the effect of feeling pleasure from people’s pain, I’d always been so confused by his name and it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I’m actually ready to fight you over this.

I'll be honest. My favorite character was the rabbit and his pet plant. That was honestly a thoughtful gift from Eva. And something about her singing fight scene was cool to me.
