With the new movie it just feels like there wasn’t the same amount of love put into it. I read the movie diary books for the wimpy kid movies religiously when I was little and in the books it explains just how much effort went into making the heffley’s feel like a real family and making Greg feel like a real kid even down to his clothes and haircut. The new movie is missing that detail and care, the new heffley’s don’t feel like a real family and more like their just reading their lines and Greg doesn’t feel like a real kid, he feels like what boomers think gen z and gen z culture is.

guys i get it the old movies were better but please lets not bully the new rodrick actor himself.. i mean like what more can he do? he was casted in the role and he probably had no control over the script. it was also one of his first acting gigs. please do not send death threats or be rude :(( if anything blame the director

@@ivewonyhk21 I personally have nothing against the actor, but the role doesn't fit him, they even changed the personality. Anyone would look terrible in a role not meant for them. I'm just stating that Rodrick's old personality and looks would definitely bully him, as that's what his mindset would do.🤷🏼♀🤷🏼♀

It’s so funny that in both of the wimpy kid movies the dads are both from a movie called “That thing you do” and the comparison between them shows in both movies between their acting and personalities. It’s really cool actually and a fun little thing I picked up :)

Yes also they use older actors for high school movies plus they wanted the characters the same age as the first movie impossible it could've been changed and they actually grow up like real movies

It also completely destroyed any character development the first three movies made. Like yeah, Greg was still a narcissist, but after Rodrick Rules they had a much closer bond as brothers. And his relationship with his father was getting better. This just destroyed all of that for quick laughs
