Great job booneman this is Cal you always take it the extra mile as far as realism. And you take the time to explain what and why. When you finish a video you always leave me anxious for the next thank-you my friend.
Thanks Cal
Great video and work as always I'm loving that you're doing a 1/64 layout. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Thank you James
I absolutely love these videos. I have been wanting to do this with my son's 1/43 but really had no idea how. How you use sections of real racetracks have really opened my eyes. Thank you for doing these videos. I've learned so much.
Thank you Keith, I’m glad to hear the video’s are a help.
Once again you work magic you are an artist my friend you bring slot cars alive in a word WOW booneman
Thank you buddy… that’s the goal.. 😂 Where Home Racing Becomes Real … 😂
Great info Boone…thanks!
Your welcome, and thank you 😊
Digging your practical way of looking at build challenges Boone.
That L&M Lola looks really cool and it corners better than the real car ever did.
Thank you 😊,,, yes that little Lola handles a bit better than the real thing 😂
This is so simple that it is genius. This is only the third BSCG video I’ve watched and you have completely changed the way I look a slot car raceways. Many hobbyists, myself included, only use scenery to make their raceways more realistic. You’ve taken realism to another level. Thank you for sharing your vision. Killer stuff! 😎🤙
I’m a retired high school educator and there’s one principle I saw year in, year out. Good teachers have great ideas and successfully incorporate them in their classroom. Great teachers not only incorporate their ideas, they also aren’t afraid to cross the line of thievery and incorporate other’s great ideas in their classroom. That being said, I’M STEALING YOUR IDEAS. 😂😇
😂 thank you very much Mike . Wow I’m at a loss of words. But please steal away. I’m a firm believer in you only keep what your willing to give away. Thank you again and I’m glad that you are enjoying my videos. 😊
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage…I’m currently working on a HO micro raceway (30”x66”/2 lane). It’s really more of a test track, but let’s call it a raceway. It’s been almost thirty years since my last build (4’x9’/4 lane). Would love to do a larger build, but we don’t have the room unless I can convince my wife that we don’t need the dining room table any longer. Any words of wisdom and/or encouragement on that subject? 😂
Even if I never build another raceway, your videos have changed the way I view tabletop raceways. That alone is refreshingly enough. Mucho gracias
@@mikemueller1686 very cool about your track . I don’t know about the other… 😂 I think it’s wise to live by the old saying “ happy wife happy life “ , 😂 so removing the dining room table kinda falls into the category 😂
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage… According to my daughter it’s “Happy wife, keep your life.” 😂
@@mikemueller1686 😂 😂 😂
Thank you Sir Boone
We older guys that have returned to the hobby and are limited with space and committed ourselves to 1:43 need all the fabrication help we can get! I am looking forward to when you show us how to manufacture replacement 1:43 tyres 😉🤞🤔Just voicing my problems with a certain slot company 🏁✌️🏁
Thanks Mike , a video on tires … hhmmm that is a possibility
Great video legend, I will be using these tips in a future build...Picasso of the slot car world
🤪 thanks Mate
Brilliant! This is amazing, your mind is treasure trove of slot car magic! Thank you, I am going to use this method on my layout and skip the Carrera borders!
Thanks buddy, it’s amazing how this tricks the eyes , if you need any questions answered, please feel free to ask…
Looking sweet Boon!! , i been using 6mm cork floor tiles which are a perf hight match it also flexes enough to cut straight strips and bend for radius !!! Works very well. Cheers happy slots my friend
Thank you David , cork tiles work great as well , plus the color and texture is perfect for making sand traps on the side of tracks
Looking good so far 👍👍 I’m like the attention to detail, do it right the first time. Looking forward to the next video!
Thanks buddy
I've changed turn piece radius regular.
remove the metal conductors cut a turn piece say down to a third reinsert conductors and cut those to fit. you'll need to create a complete section but the conductors are bendable and help holding the completed section together.
Very cool
Nice! I’m modifying my track accordingly. Has anyone ever told you to send pictures to Hollywood for an Edward Norton look alike. You could double for him easily. That’s for posting….😊
Nice ,👍 ya I heard of that before 😂. Maybe I can be his stunt double, I mean I’m pretty good at falling from ladders 😂 😂 😂
Its simple. Inside straights get a strip of material. Outside curves get a strip of material. Except when there are 2 90 deg. left or right hand curvers with a straight between them luke the area you are working on. Then the material shouls go on the outside of the straight.
Yep , you got it… then it comes down to just creating the effect to trick the eye
Great stuff I will definitely be using some of your techniques on my 1:43 build.
Thanks buddy, very cool
Great work in progress 👏👏👍😊
Thank you Brian
Great stuff! Thanks for the video.
Thank you Dave
Great job my friend!
Thank you Fred
Again you have a lot of talent,You would be Great in Model Railroad 👍
Thank you very much Snafu
Quick heads up. About 20 years ago, but I can't remember if it was Tyco or Hot Wheels, there was a VERY popular Jeremy McGrath Supercross set... there was 2 versions... '12 radius turns with and without built in aprons! Inner and outer! I've seen them many times on Ebay and these are a MUST if building a Tyco track...
Thanks Robert , I’ll definitely check into this.
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage And another thing about Tyco track which I'm sure you and most experienced HO slotters know but some newbies might not is the rails on Tyco track are just a little further apart then they are on Aurora and Tomy track.... so original Aurora A/FX pickup equipped cars will not work on Tyco track... the pickups land INSIDE the rails... but there is a easy solution... Auto World Xtraction pickups are much wider and cure this problem... downside to this is they wear out very quickly on Tyco track... so if you don't want to keep replacing pickups, Wizzard and BSRT make some very high quality ones that will not burn through in a couple of hundred laps...
@@roberthill2219 yes I did know that about tyco, but I didn’t know about those other pickups , thanks for the info
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage Check out Lucky Bob's HO slot cars in Milwaukee... They are the LEB or Electric Dreams of the HO world... they even have NOS Aurora T-jet and A/FX parts and bodies... and Bob is great people...
@@roberthill2219 very cool
Great video 👍
Thank you Lee
Awesome video Boone! That's the stuff I'll be doing soon. Just figuring out my layout first so I can secure the track. Can't wait to see your layout come to life! I'm into HO. Never used digital before but the more I watch the videos on it, the more interesting it gets haha.
Thanks Mike , very cool news about your layout
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage Thanks man! I have 125 ft of giant raceway so space is kind of an issue. But it's gonna happen 🤣🤣
@@mikelandis6042 😂
Boone when ya gonna start the Ho vids back up? Was really excited for that one!! Love your content!! Let’s do this!!!
I hope to start working on the HO project soon. Had to purchase some more track . Some of the pieces didn’t make the move. I believe they have become lost toys 😂… and I need to finish up the pulley system for it as well. But that’s minor stuff to contend with. I do plan on doing an update video on the HO soon, so this should explain and update everything that’s going on and planned out.
Thanks for the update. And you are the Bob Ross of slot car art. 👍
@@dynamicdago4549 😂 thanks buddy
Wasn't even done with the intro and LIKE''d it, LOL.... I was just building catch fencing on my HO track / Mark Emm
😂 thanks buddy
Sir Boone
After seeing the Miami Street Circuit one has to asked, we’re you consulted on the harbor modeling? 🏁✌️🏁
😂 thanks Mike
Thanks, man these are really helpful. Did you use the bending technique on this HO track, too?
Thank you Spencer , yes I did use the bending technique some on this section of track
So, does TYCO also have the same radius' (radii?) as Tomy/AFX. TOMY offers the normal 9", plus a 12. 15 and an 18.. and for the braver people, an inside 6" and 3" hairpin (so, like 10 lanes are possible--though not fluid really...- 4 to 6 lanes is best, and I just got the first batch from eBay for my 4 lane today.
I don’t believe the old tyco like I have has the amount of verity to pick from like the newer stuff
Hi Boone,
I was working out how to layout my track. The Apex turns and it just didn’t seem right when compared to watching real racing. Then I found a driving video that talked about how the ideal line isn’t used. The way slot car track corners are built. Same radius all the way around the corner. The racing line has most of the turning completed prior to the apex, the radius opening the rest of the way around the corner. Allowing for more acceleration out of the corner into the straight. Have you constructed any corners like that?
I have a couple corners like that on my 1/32 layout , and yes it makes for a faster corner
Thanks for the feedback. It’s looking like I will be using R2 and R3 sized corners for most of the layout. It gives me the option to go 4 lane later without too much modification. I was able to find some good engineering drawings of real world tracks and those sizes better fit scale size.
Is it possible to do custom banking for stock car track setups with this sort of HO scale track?
Yes it is , see my comment to you on the prior video. Thanks buddy
only way is to route
very nice job and you explain very nice!!!!! if you want please make in your video subtible :)
Thank you 😊
