This was one of the best shows on TV when i was a lad. I loved the presenter and his quirky eccentric ways also. It's being made again so lets hope it lives up to the great show of the past.
Can't believe I'm watching this in 2024. I used to watch this when it was originally on TV 30 years ago lol

One of my fav. shows during my childhood .. and I started watching it a few years after Richard O'Brien left the show , I guess. His voice and way of talking is so sweet.
I can't be the only person who prefers Ed Tudor-Pole. Not that Rick isn't great also!

This team is a great example of the need to have confidence and follow through once you've figured out the room! Julia is the only person who understands the need to hustle the whole time. Richard gives them the most snarky quips but he also gives the most hints and explanations in this episode! It didn't help because of the one thing he couldn't teach them: if you have only 10 seconds left but the crystal and door are both in sight, you focus hard and GET THE CRYSTAL.
My favourite part of this show is the absolute pointless crap the rest of the team shout through the door. Top ones this ep are ‘take your time’ six times during the same challenge and ‘positive thinking’ when trying to complete a puzzle

In the whole history of the maze. No team has ever worked out that in the dome if 3 collected and 3 sorted you wouldn't have any silver at the end

My mum has one but lied to us saying she had been a contestant. Me my brothers and sister were all amazed. Watched when 1st aired loved it. Richard was and still is epic.
Growing up in Australia I had no idea what this show was but English friends rave about it during their childhoods and how great it was. I found this incredibly infuriating to watch, but maybe that's the fun - the fact everyone is an idiot? I dunno how this Richard guy put up with this stupidity. He is the saving grace of this show.
It was the best. My parents used to swear at the telly. Effing idiots.. get the crystal. Idiot teams made it more fun.

I think he always took it out when the team were giving useful help to their team-mate, just to drown out what they were saying.

It was only bad team playing right at the end that prevented Brett from getting the crystal. This also happened in a very recent episode too.

From now on, every room SHOULD have a auto-locking mechanism on every door. That way, the contestant wouldn't be able to bail out. Fail a minigame? Too bad. You're stuck, now your teammates have two decisions to make: relinquish one crystal to bail him/out or leave him/her behind and keep the crystals.
In my alternate version of this show, you can’t buy out team members.
Part of the fun of this game, is the team communication, and getting out on time. I see nothing wrong leaving a game before you get locked-in.
It would be smart for teams to call it early, when they realize they can use the extra time on another game.

What the.... Two crystals they didn't get because the team shout too much. So frustrating.
Screaming “out! OUT!” Is so unhelpful. Do a countdown. That guy would have hit the crystal under the bell if they counted him down rather than screamed at him as if the clock was on zero.
